When he was just a baby, Kal-El of Krypton and his mother Lara had escaped the destruction of their home planet. They had traveled to Earth, where they had landed on the island of Themiscyra, where they were taken in by the Amazons. Queen Hippolyta and her daughter Diana had in particular grown attached to the Kryptonians. Then a few years later, Thomas and Martha Wayne had been shipwrecked on the island, along with their butler Alfred and their son Bruce, who likewise had gotten along famously with Kal and Diana. It was shortly thereafter that they saw more of the wider world.

They had gotten quite a view of everything humanity had to offer, and their capacity for good. It was an important building block.

Bruce and his parents had gone home to Gotham City, whereas Kal and his mother had traveled to the town of Smallville, Kansas, where they had moved in with a couple by the name of Jonathan and Martha Kent. Lara had taken on the identity of Laura Kent, Jonathan's younger sister, and Kal was her son Clark.

As for Diana, she certainly preferred to stay on Themiscyra with her mother.

But luckily, their parents had found a way to remain in contact with one another, and, more importantly, the children could have time together.

At this moment, Diana was still fast asleep, and resisting Hippolyta's entreaties to get up.

"It is not becoming of a princess to waste the day away in bed," Hippolyta chided her daughter, shaking her constantly.

Diana groaned and kept trying to swat the queen away.

"Alright, we'll do it the hard way," Hippolyta thought aloud, moving to take Diana's feet in her hands. She began to tickle the soles.

She giggled excitedly and soon bolted up, heavy bedhead visible.
