Illusions of Adulthood (Perdente)

It had only been a few months since the entire region of Unova was flipped on its head. Pokémon were in charge as opposed to humans, trainers were given odd roles in this new Pokémon driven society, and some were simply kept in rooms to make sure they didn’t pull any dangerous stunts. And one of those trainers was none other than Rosa. The former champion of Unova had been stripped to her panties, and was supposedly going to be given to a Pokémon to be personally cared for as opposed to just kept in this room. Either way, it was humiliating.

The 21-year-old girl was currently hiding under her bed, cold and defeated. She knew why her clothes were gone, they were tattered and stained from mud in the woods, and she refused to wear any of the humiliating baby clothes. The adoption center keeping her in a windowless room to prevent escape didn't ease her fears. She could only hope things would at least get better from here.

Time felt slow for everyone there, until the sounds of chattering and speech could be heard outside, something about the adoption papers being needed to be filled out. It must be for another trainer kept here...at least, until she heard the sounds of a voice getting louder in terms of speech and how close it was to her door. And then the sound of the knob turning on the other side, and a click. Someone was coming in.

Rosa gritted her teeth, curling up in the fetal position in the corner of the wall while still under the bed. She'd be really hard to see, she was banking he wouldn't be dedicated enough to search further.

The door opened and it wouldn't be long until a Pokémon stepped in...one she didn't recognize as any of the staff. It was a Zoroark, much taller than her or any other human, and at a glance it seemed ambiguous as to what gender they were, maybe even more feminine with how they walked or looked, but as soon as they spoke, it became obvious. A higher pitch yet still masculine enough to know that this Pokémon was a male, and one full of energy. "Now, where could that little human be...? I heard they were quite antisocial, but I can't see them anywhere..." He was obviously playing an act, pretending to not notice her.

Rosa held her breath in as long as she could, shivering and cowering in fear, tears welling in the naked woman's eyes. She knew what happened to adult trainers in Unova. The children and those over the age of 40 got off scott free, staying in Kanto after the revolution. No, now her and her friends were all that was left, experiments for the Pokemon's new kind of living in harmony.

He could hear the crying and looked in her general direction, seeing her tearing up. As if some paternal instinct kicked in suddenly, he whispered to one of the other caretakers, telling them to grab something as soon as possible. It only took a few seconds before they returned, and he soon approached the crying trainer and crouched down to her level, gently wrapping a blanket around her to try and calm her. "Hello there, little one. Would you mind telling me why you're crying in the corner here?"

Rosa threw the blanket off of her, shrinking further into the corner to make herself harder to reach.

"No!" She wailed, "No, I'm not letting you take anymore of my dignity! I know we weren't great, and I know the jungle was bad for me, but at least I could do whatever I wanted!"

She was malnourished, she had a fever, and she knew it. The woods had been awful to her, hiding in the tall grass like the pokemon used to. Ironic, she supposed, but at least they could survive there. There were only so many berries she could scavenge.

The Zoroark listened to how she reacted and how she spoke, and sighed softly. He knew that the trainers that were taken from the jungles they hid in weren't exactly the most delighted to be kept there, and he had experience with this. It would take a bit to break down Rosa's barriers, but he could manage.

"Hey now, I'm not going to take anything away from you for now, alright? I just want you to be calm and talk to me, so I can make sure you're okay."

He slowly placed the blanket around where she was again, but was much more gentle with the approach. When all was said and done, he sat next to her bed and started to gently pat her on the back from under there to comfort her.
