Classroom Confessions

The day had just begun at Central Allistair Highschool, as students of all grades and ages flooded the hallways to get to their lockers and classes. Teachers waited patiently in their classrooms for their roster to arrive safely. Today marked the 131st day of school, which meant the school year was more than halfway over. By this time students, especially seniors, were growing impatient beyond belief of having to wake up early and sit in a classroom for several hours, and the same went for the teachers. CAH was a very large school, it has three stories, one for each grade. The student population was in the thousands and had roughly one to two hundred members of staff. Each student was required to wear a uniform, girls wore a blouse and a skirt, while boys wore a buttoned shirt and khakis. The school colors were purple and white, and their mascot was a Stallion. CAH offers almost any sport you could think of, from swimming to ice hockey to lacrosse.

Channing was racing down the halls, they were empty after the tardy bell rang just seconds ago! She was late. Locker 41 was her first stop, as she put in her combination, and retrieved her books for class. Next she hurried to Ms. Taylor's class, which was actually her favorite one. Due to being a senior, and a smart one at that, Channing's schedule didn't require her to take as many classes as the other kids her age, for she had gotten her credits done in the years before. This is why she chose to have Ms. Taylor's class for three hours in the same day. First, second, and last hour. Her reason behind this was that she had always loved Ms. Taylor as a teacher and her class was always so fun to be in. Even if other students didn't feel the same about their teacher or her classroom, Channing did.

Channing Wheeler was 5"2 and had beautiful brown hair. She had gorgeous eyes and a nice smile, and she was skinny. But even then no boys ever noticed her. How could they when she was so shy and anti-social. This is why Channing only really talked to Ms. Taylor during school, because she didn't have any friends. Channing knew it was her fault that she had no-one else to talk to, but she really didn't mind. It was her last year here, and the senior was off to college, she could do without friends.

"Tanya Valero?"

"Here."

"Sasha Westbrook?"

"Present."

"Channing Wheeler?"

"..."

"Ms. Wheeler?" A the pair of lavish, crimson-red eyes glanced up from the roll-call sheet. Silence. The beautiful young woman at the front of the room glanced back at Channing's desk. Sure enough, the girl wasn't present. She simply sighed to herself and put a little 'x' by her name.

"Alright students, I'm assuming you all read chapter 8 in your textbooks last night as I requested; because today we're going to be discussing the economic implications on England during the war of 1812." The teacher stated, turning to the whiteboard behind her and writing out the required assignments for the day before turning around to face the class.

Miranda Taylor, while quite a bombshell by most standards, was an intimidating woman. She stood at a commanding 6'1, making her taller than many of the male teachers at the school. Her long, silky crimson hair was professionally tied back into a ponytail. She was not exactly a mean woman by any standards...Simply because very few actually dared to test her wrath. Ms. Taylor seemed like the kind of person that could destroy you with words, rather than punishment. Though, there was a rumor going around that she spanked a girl in the middle of class for swearing at her.

"Now then, can any of you girls tell me who was reigning over Great Britian during the time of this war with the newly formed United States?" She asked, arms crossed. Her eyes kept drifting to Channing's empty desk, wondering where her student was...

Channing held her books closely, wrapping her arms around them against her chest. She walked into the classroom slowly, and silently. This didn't help her in the least bit as her desk was in the front row, but on the far-right corner, which was the closest desk in the classroom to Ms. Taylor's own desk. She hoped Ms. Taylor wouldn't say anything as she got to class late. While moving through the rows of desks other students would let out a muffled laugh, trying to embarress the girl. Channing paid no attention to this, as she had been used to it since elementary school.

Several hands were raised at her question, to Miranda's pleasure. She was about to call on one of the girls to answer when the door opened. Instantly, all eyes in the classroom glanced at the arrival, including the teacher's. It was none other than the girl whom she had just counted absent.

The busty redhead at the front of the room smirked to herself as she watched the shirt girl silently shuffle to her desk. She waited to speak until Channing had just arrived to her desk. "Very nice of you to join us, Ms. Wheeler." She said simply, causing the class to erupt in stifled giggles.

Channing began to blush lightly. Although she was used to this. It happened everytime she was late to class. Channing only nodded, sinking deeper into her seat, as if she could just somehow vanish under the desk. When all the laughter ended, she sighed, pulling out her notebook. When she knew Ms. Taylor wasn't paying attention, Channing began to doodle in her notebook. She was finishing up on her most recent drawing, it was a large, and exceptionally well-drawn heart for a student who never took an art class. The sketch was in black and white, only using her pencil. Channing decided she'd take this hour to finish it. She began by beggining to illustrate a fancy "M . T" in the middle of the heart, but the clever girl made sure to cover it up when needed, as to prevent other students of seeing it.

"Now that we're all here, let's continue, shall we? Who was the current monarch of England during the war of 1812?" The history teacher asked the class, once again seeing the same hands raise as she called. Miranda, out of the corner of her eye, noticed that Channing hadn't raised her hand. The small girl was still unpacking her things...Should she call on her? No...She had already embarassed the cute brunette enough...for now anyway.

"Yes, that is correct Bethany. Now, can someone who read the chapter last night tell me why Prince George of Wales was ruling Britian at the time; rather than his father George the third?"

The tall woman continued her lecture, all the while continuing to check on Channing every once and awhile. Sure enough, the teenaged girl didn't seem to be laying much attention, or taking notes. From what she could see; it looked like she was doodling around her notebook. Ms. Taylor smirked to herself, seeing another oppurtunity.

"So tell me Channing, who led the American forces during the battle of Mississinewa?"

"John B. Campbell." Channing said softly, without even having to look up or to any reference of text. Infact, she didn't even read what she was supposed to last night, the senior was just very intelligent. Channing made sure not to have an undesireable tone when she said this, as so spare her from Ms. Taylor's wrath after she figured out Channing was right. The girl didn't want to be a know it all, even though she was, in a sense. Her eyes nor hands never left her sketch, which was she was not outlining in a darker color.

Rather than snap at her, Miranda grinned to herself, impressed. "Very good dear. However, I would recommend looking up every now and again just to let me know you're paying attention. I'd hate to think you're ignoring me..." She said, a tiny bit a playfulness in her voice. "Oh, and I would recommend taking some notes just in case there's something you miss. That is, if you can take your attention away from your doodles." Her teacher added, more giggles arising from the other girls.

Channing sighed, she didn't like it when Miranda teased her like that. Well, on the outside. But in all honesty she loved to be getting attention from one of her favorite persons in the world. She enjoyed Ms/ Taylors company more then any of her family, since she had no friends. This conclusion gave Channing a small smile, although in added playfullness she did'nt look up, nor stop doodling. She simply sat there and waited for the bell to ring.

Seeing Channing keep her head lowered, the young woman raised an eyebrow, smirking as she returned her attention back to the class. The quiet brunette had always gotten her attention...It was a shame she never spoke up more.

Miranda's lecture continued until the bell rang, dismissing all the girls. "See you tomorrow students. Remember, study up on chapter 9.2 and 9.3 for your quiz tomorrow." The buxom redhead reminded all the teenagers as they packed up to leave. Then, her eyes once again fixed on Channing. "And Ms.Wheeler, if you don't mind, I want to have a word with you..." She told the shy girl packing up.
