Summer of Love (private for me and jhudson)

The soft light of dusk had just begun to sweep over the rolling, pine-covered mountains of southern Oklahoma. The birds' song was starting to slowly die out, replaced by the monotonous tone of the screaming cicadas and the chirping crickets. Night was falling on Broken Arrow.

A convoy of SUV's, pickup trucks, and small sedans and coupes navigated their way through the winding roads of Broken Arrow State Park. Most of the SUV's and trucks pulled campers along behind them, while the smaller cars were loaded down with camping equipment. Summer had just begun, and Felix Vega, along with most of his friends from college, were eager to celebrate.

"How much longer now? Like, 5 minutes to the camp site?" asked the red furred fox, propped back in the passenger seat of the small car with his gaze turned to the window.

"No around 10 more minutes." Said Thomas, as he was driving car and looking over to see Felix staring out the window. "Man this guy rubs me the wrong way" Thomas said in his head as he looked back to the road." You don't mind if I roll down the window, Felix?". Thomas said.

At that, the fox shook his head and said, "Nah, go on ahead." He then gave a little yawn and sat up, groaning as he stretched his arms and legs as much as the cramped space would allow. " 'Sides, I could use a nice breeze," he added.

With that Thomas pushed the automatic button for all the windows with his paw. When he did all four windows in the car were down and the air came rushing in. The air hit Thomas's golden fur and started to blow in the wind. It was a good feeling to Thomas. With that out the way, Thomas asked a question nervously, "So Felix, um... you were a freshmen this year. Right?" As Thomas continued to look at the road as he asked the question.

"Yep, sure was. Gonna be a sophomore this year," replied Felix, a little smile on his face as the pleasant breeze blew across his face, causing the white fur on his muzzle to slowly ripple and his long headfur to go whipping every which way. "And what about you? You're gonna be a senior, right?"

Thomas was slowly to answer..."um...yeah I'm going to be a senior this year. I'm getting my degree in biology. What about you? Have you decided to declare your major yet?" Thomas asked as his eyes slowly glanced at Felix.

"Nah, not yet. I think I'm gonna go out for history, but I don't really know for sure..." Felix replied with a sigh. "I'll get it figured out, though. I guess. So biology? You gonna teach high school, college, go into genetics, or what?"

"You know I don't know. I might go for my masters, I might get Ito research, or I might get into teaching but I don't think I have the skill for it." Thomas said. "Hey isn't the turn up here on the left next to the big rock?" Thomas asked...

"Um...I think so," said Felix with a bit of uncertainty as he squinted up to the front of the small convoy of cars, the first of which took the turn. "Well I guess it must be. That is, if we're with that guy...that car was part of our group, wasn't it?

"Yeah, I think your right." Said Thomas as he turned the car and followed the rest of the group of cars. "So how did you end up coming on this camping trip? I thought you were always in your dorm room or with friends? Never expected you to be this outdoorsy kind of guy?" Thomas said with a slight smile.
