One Moonlit Night...

Holly Short was not your average girl. She enjoyed spending days on end in the wilderness, despised modern fashion, and had no cell phone. Her friends all got together a couple times a month, her career was tending to wildlife and nature, and she would work for days on end with no pay and no rest, simply because she loved it. She also loved flying, and would often spend evenings floating through trees beneath the moonlight. She was fifteen inches tall, ninety eight years old, slim, and wore almost nothing but sundresses made of woven grass or silk.*
It's worth mentioning that she was a fairy.

Another hobby of hers was, of course, trickery. Tonight, in fact, she was playing a classic tune: Luring a poor camper into the woods, until he could not find his way and would require her help getting back. For a fee, of course. She had already chosen her mark, and was making her wings glimmer in the moonlight to attract the attention of a young camper.

Matt had gone to the woods for a simple camping trip to get away from his city life and had a tent and fire all set up in the woods as he just finished eating some chicken he cooked up. Once he was full he put everything away and threw trash into the fire of course. At the moment he had on a light green shirt and blue jeans and looked up to the stars to take it all in. Suddenly an odd glimmer caught his attention and he looked into the woods seeing something shine. He grabbed a flashlight and put it on the spot and it only made the shiner brighter.

Figuring that it wasn't a beast he got up, having a knife in his pocket, and made his way through the trees towards the light.

Holly giggled loudly, both to attract the human's attention and because this was so easy. With a little luck she'd have him lost in half an hour. Shoiting into the air, her wings humming, she relocated to a spot in the forest a dozen feet further from the campgrounds, luring him further into the woods.

Matt saw the thing move and heard it giggle, so it was either a cute creature, or he was going crazy. Nevertheless he knew he'd get lost if he didn't make markers or a trail for himself. He thought of how to do this and pulled out his knife to mark the nearby tree, and would do so in a pattern as he went along with the giggling, sparkling creature

The fairy giggled. The human thought he was being clever, didn't he? She had dealt with clever humans before. And so, in the darkness as she jumped and flew and sparkled, she prepared a little magic so that, once deep in the woods, she could also mark some trees. Or, all of the trees...

Matt kept following, losing track of the trees he marked, especially when he saw some already marked and put one last hope in the compass on his phone, which he knew the road was North, so he would go there if he got lost.

Finally, the fairy giggled one more time, landed on a tree above the human, and with a little bit of bad-luck magic fried the battery on the human's machine. Then, it was time to collect.
"Matt," she said, hanging from a tree above him, smirking all the while. "Up here!"

As the flashlight went out he of course hit it a few times then heard his name called and looked up before setting the flashlight in his back pocket. "What are you?" he asks while trying to squint and find out what he was talking to.

"I'm a friend, Matt," the Fairy said, snickering again. "It looks like you've gotten yourself all lost in the woods! Do you need help finding your way out?" So far, so good. He was following the script, making things easy for her. Unless further complications arose, things were going to be very easy for her.

"I guess so. Then again I was following you, so you led me into an area I don't know. I'm not sure what you want, but hopefully we can make a deal where you get me back where I need to be rather than me doing that the hard way. Surely you wanted me for something" He reasons.
