The Airbending Novice

It was a warm day, even atop the summit of the Southern Air Temple. A gentle breeze wafted through the barren rooms, and around the cliff side. For the most part, this place was a deserted one, even with the resurgence of the airbenders, their wasn't enough yet to repopulate the once great temples. No, now it was mostly lemurs, and the occasional heard of roaming sky bison that called this place home. That was, until earlier today.

Opal, the one and only daughter to the Bei Fong name, and still relatively new airbender had come to this ancient and spiritual place, with non other than Avatar Aang's two granddaughters. At first, she was taken aback by the offer to come to the Northern Air Temple with them, seeing as she was older than them, but they, in the sense of airbending, were years ahead of her. She thought it would be a strange dynamic. It wasn't though, and the three girls seemed to be getting along very well.

They spent most of their first day there exploring the architecture and history of their ancient nomad ancestors. Now however, they decided it would be good to get some training in from the newly crowned "Master Jinora" herself. They trained for a few hours, and even though she was quite new at this still, Opal found herself discouraged throughout the afternoon.

As the sun set over the surrounding mountains, they worked themselves into a cooldown exercise, where they simply stood in a circle, and passed a concentrated breeze around in a clockwise manner. Opal watched as Jinora and Ikki plainly and easily passed along the air current to one another, but when it came Ikki passing it to her, and passing it off to Jinora, it became noticeably weaker and slower. "I don't like how it gets weaker when it passes through me." She spoke up, as she once again guided the current to Jinora. "Is my form messed up?" She asked. She knew she was still a greenhorn at this point, but she didn't like the girls having to look down on her as an airbender.

"I think you're doing just fine for a beginner," Jinora encouraged, passing the current to her sister. "Practice makes perfect. Ikki and I were no good when we first started out, even though we're born airbenders."

"Speak for yourself," Ikki teased, getting ready to pass the air back to Opal. "I don't care about any status put on your head, even in tattoo form; I was a natural from a start."

"Whatever you say," Jinora simply sighed. She watched as Opal once again tried passing it back, but the air dissipated before it could reach her. In order to keep the young woman from feeling immediately down, Jinora smiled as she walked up to her, Ikki joining. "I think the problem here is you keep worrying about not getting better. Airbending requires clear minds in order to properly master. Maybe taking a break will help you feel better."

Opal smiled at the two girls back and forth. They were sisters separated by only a few years, but Jinora was so mature for her age. She wiped the sweat from her brow with the back of her hand, only know realizing how taxing she actually found the training to be. She had to agree with Jinora, she was worried about not improving, and she did think a break was a good idea. "Yeah, that sounds good." She agreed, looking towards their pile of belongings, her bag slightly off to the side of the other girls'. "Are we just gonna stay here tonight?" She asked, unclear of her real say in things, as she usually just let Jinora decide. "We might be able to find some beds around here." She thought in a hopeful tone.

"I'll have to call our Dad first," Jinora said, going over to grab her own bag, which was noticeably smaller than both hers and Ikki's combined. "He'll probably understand us wanting to stay in order to easily start this back up tomorrow."

"By the way," Ikki suddenly cut in. "How come you've got so much stuff, Opal? It's not like we're on vacation or anything. Just a few spare clothes would have done fine for coming here. Are you like one of those rich people who needs a dress for every meal or something? Cuz that's weird."

Opal picked her bag up as she listened to the ever responsible Jinora once again speak reason. It was good though, she was sort of like the team leader, even though she was younger than Opal herself. "I'm sure he won't have a problem with it." She assured as she slung her bag over her shoulder. When Ikki decided to jump in however she had to back pedal. "I uh, I've never been on one of these training things before, gimme a break." She looked down at the youngest of their trio with a deadpanned expression. She began to back peddle away from the two girls. "I'm gonna go see if I can find anywhere half comfortable in this place." She mumbled, just loud enough so that they could hear her. Really she just wanted to get away so she could do some more...private things, but this sufficed as an excuse.

Both girls looked at one another in confusion, finding the change of mood from Opal very odd. Ikki had only been kidding around, but now they were both seriously curious about why Opal reacted like that. Was she hiding something?

"Um...maybe she just needs sleep," Jinora said, trying to wave it off. "People get grumpy when they're tired, I suppose."

"I dunno. It seemed much more sudden than that," Ikki said, tapping a finger on her chin. She was now wanting to get to the bottom of this.

Opal hoped that the girls didn't take her sudden retraction the wrong way. It wasn't their fault after all, she just wanted to so something. She made her way inside of the large open doorway of the building they were training outside of, but she quickly realized it wasn't anything resembling living quarters. She left through the back of the building and walked along a stone wall, and looked over at a peculiar sight. It was a bunch of wooden poles sticking out of the ground and up to about 15 feet in the air. She noticed what looked like two goals at the end, and figured it must have been some ancient airbending sport. She shrugged to herself and carried on along the wall until she met the stairs that went up them and onto another plateau that another building sat on. She was doing her best to be discreet, but the fact that the place was deserted and totally made of stone made her feel like she was stomping instead of tiptoeing around.

Opal entered the new building and instantly got a more welcoming vibe, even though no one was ever there. It seemed like she had walked into the some living quarters, as there were some chairs facing each other in the center of the room. She nodded to herself, thinking that this spot would do the trick if she found somewhere a little more secluded. She looked to her left and found a set of wooden stairs. They creaked awfully as she ascended them, but once she climbed them, she found a hallway lined with bedrooms on either side. She smiled to herself. "One of these will do." She whispered to no one in particular. It seemed however that airbenders of years past didn't really have much of a liking of doors. The majority of rooms had nothing in the doorway at all, and those that did just had a simple clothing hanging from the top. She settled for the seconde one on the right, which did happen to have a cloth.

Now it was time to get down to business. She placed her bag on the floor in the center of the room, her heart aflutter in anticipation. She opened it quickly and grabbed the soft package inside, and quickly pulled it out and examined her unopened pack of baby diapers. She always wanted to do this. She was always to nervous at her home however. It always felt to crowded; surrounded by her family and their guard. She jumped up and took off the bottom half of her traditional airbender clothing, as well as her light blue panties. She once more knelt down and tore into the package. Immediately she was hit with the smell of fresh diapers. She smiled and extracted her first one and examined it thoroughly. It was small, to be sure, but so was she. It was definitely a girls diaper, as wherever it wasn't white, it was pink, and the crotch was decorated with flowers. She unfolded it as she sat her warm bottom down onto the cold wood flooring. She hadn't done this before, so it was kind of an awkward endeavor. She managed to get in underneath herself and once more reached into her bag. With her hand came a bottle of baby powder. "I might as well do it right..." She whispered to herself as she sprinkled some powder onto her crotch. Maybe a bit too much she thought, as the sweet smell of the powder was quite noticeable even after she had put the bottle away. So there she sat, her heart now pounding, ready to tape herself into her first diaper.

Oblivious to Opal, Ikki had decided to follow Opal, although keeping enough distance to avoid detection. It wasn't so much that she suspected Opal to be hiding something, but was more curious about what had caused the negative behavior. If Opal was upset, surely she would need someone to comfort her if needed. At least, that's how Ikki justified it to herself.

Ikki made sure her feet didn't make a single sound, taking advantage of her much lighter body. Ikki's curiosity only rose seeing Opal go further into the temple, into a much more private areas versus simply sleeping on one of the nearby rooms next to the training grounds. Maybe Opal just didn't know, or simply thought a more comfortable place would be better. Admittedly, the floors were not exactly comfortable, so Ikki couldn't call Opal out on this later. Ikki might even bring Jinora back here later once she was done talking to their father. They both hadn't had a chance to sleep back here before, having no real reason to.

Unlike Opal, who simply walked up the creaky stairs, Ikki silently airbended all the way up to avoid making any suspicious noises; Opal was sure to know something was up, since those stairs echoed throughout the whole area. Waiting on the other side of the hall, Ikki listened in to make sure Opal had settled down in her chosen room before quietly tiptoeing towards the entrance, though again hiding behind the wall. She then simply listened, not able to determine what Opal was doing quite yet, and peaking inside was definitely not a good idea.

Opal sighed in anticipation. Here was the moment she had been waiting for since as long as she could remember. She laid back and pulled the padding up between her legs. She wanted to think abut how good it felt right away, but she thought it better to get it tapped on first. Once again her inexperience with this sort of thing gave her a bit of trouble. It took her a minute to figure out how to keep the padding between her legs and do up the tabs. She did eventually figure it out, and sighed happily once the second tape was snugly fitted to her hip. Her hands instantly went to her crotch as she sat up, she felt the padding on her body and pressed it against herself. Despite how much she really wanted to have some more...fun with herself, she knew it wouldn't be a good idea to keep Ikki and Jinora waiting.

She stood up slowly, afraid that the tabs of the baby diaper wouldn't hold. A pleasant surprise however, not only did the tabs hold well, the diaper fit her even better. She felt the back of it and felt that it covered her ass nicely, the waistband coming up clear to her waist. And as she looked at the front, she was surprised that it looked like it fit perfectly all the way around her. She smiled, thanking herself on some level for having such a small frame. As she inspected herself her back was to the door, unaware of Ikki lurking there anyway. She stayed facing the wall as she bent over to get her clothes again, and threw her panties into her bag. "Good thing airbenders dress baggy." She said aloud, as if she were having a normal conversation as she grabbed her pants.

Ikki raised an eyebrow at Opal's last comment. Now she was dying to know what Opal was doing. She was willing to take a risk, and quickly took a peek inside. Her face turned instantly red as she hid once again, thankful that Opal was not facing the door, or else this would have been disastrous. Was she actually wearing...a diaper? Ikki didn't know why it bothered her that much, but they were meant for babies, right? By the sounds of it, Opal was preparing to leave, and this cued Ikki to leave herself, doing so quickly but quietly. She wasn't sure whether or not to ask Jinora about this later, but Ikki didn't know how long she could keep something like this to herself.
