an unexpected adoption (private)

On a cold late-winter night in a small tiwn near a forest something strange had occured. Somewhere in the woods close to the town a boy had appeared. He lay in the.middle of an open spot between the trees. He was sound asleep. He wore old clothes and his hair was wrapped around him. He was clearly young and realy small, he sucked his thumb in his sleep.

"Nothing like an invigorating cold to get the mind moving." A young woman sighed to herself, stepping over a log to get back on the path to home. She had ventured it a bit further than usual, with the intent of discovering if she was able to find her way back easily. Worst case, her phone had a signal out here, and even if it didn't the trees weren't all that thick. "But I think I could use a..." She stopped. There was... something, near a tree up ahead. Mary Johanesinon's eyes widened, that... that wasn't a dead body, was it? She pulled her phone out in case it was, and dialed 911 but didn't press send yet. She took a few more steps and found that it was a small boy. Bending down to check a pulse, she found he was alive.

"Oh my god!" She breathed, peeling her coat of and wrapping the boy in it. Mary made the call now and did her best to explain what was going on, and she'd meet the ambulance out by her apartment. "Hang in there little guy, you're gonna be okay." She hefted him over her shoulder and began carrying him out of the woods, it would take her about 10 minutes with her encumbered like this.

As soon as she picked him up he slowly opened his eyes. A pair of icy blue eyes stared at her and then looked around. He did not speak, he simple looked around clearly confused,.like he had never seen the place before

Mary rearranged him so she could see him a bit better. "You're going to be alright, kid. Can you tell me your name?" She said slowly upon reaching the edge of the forest. The ambulance was already parked outside her home, as she walked over two EMTs noticed her flagging them down and began rushing over to take him.

"my name id gray... And why are you all in such a hurry?" he asks

"You were laying out in the cold, I don't know how long." She said, before the EMTs met her, "Okay, Gray, these people are going to make sure you're okay." She said, handing him off to one of them. They began rushing him back to the bus, while the other one in the driver seat started it back up. Mary followed them all the way to the back of the ambulance.

He looked around confused "but im okay..." he said
