Today, in a different part of the world, school was just now starting up again after a long summer break. Many kids smiled, but not because they were going back to school, but because they were going to be allowed to see some friends, that they couldn't meet over the summer break, again. At the moment, everyone was currently outside at the front of the school, chatting with each other on the large field. Few kids sat at the steps while others just simply either sat in the grass or on benches in the field in front of the school.

One kid in particular was different though. Unlike everyone else, he had fur, white fur, big yellow eyes and two large bat like ears on his head, in other words, he had a bat like appearance. He stood at a height of five feet and two inches and had a moderately sized tail. The only thing he lacked was wings. He wore a simple, white button shirt with some black jeans and he wore no shoes because his feet didn't exactly allow that. This kid was commonly called numerous nick names that he all brushed off as if they were nothing, even if they complimented or insulted him. One name stuck though, and that was "Nibs" because of his fangs and the fact that he seemed to always be chewing on a pencil or something. He never bothered telling anyone his real name as he figured that they would still call him "Nibs".

At the moment, he sat alone on one of the steps, reading a book with one of his legs lying on top of the other while ignoring any looks given to him or anything directed at him. He was able to ignore most people, but there was one person who he just couldn't ignore. It wasn't because he hated them or they irritated him, but because he liked them in a way that even seeing that person would make him blush a bit. Although, this person didn't exactly treat him in the best way, but again, he didn't care. At the moment, he didn't see this person and he continued to just read his book with a idle expression on his face. The bell was going to ring within five minutes.

The person that Nibs was refering to was a black and white racoon named Tyler. He was five foot 10 inches tall, and always had a cocky smirk on his face. He was very physically active, being on both the football and baseball team. However, being a star player, he had grown to develop a bit of a superiority complex, that caused him to often pick on the smaller students. However, his favorite victim was the bat boy Nibs. There was something about him that just made him want to embarrass and torture. He didn't know why, but he knew he enjoyed it so that was all the reason he needed.

Smirking, he walked over to Nibs, sitting next to him and pressing him slightly into the bars of the handrail next to the steps. "Hows it going bat boy," He teased, reaching over and pulling the book out of his hands, and looking at it. "What are you even reading," He asked, flipping through the pages.

Nibs' eyes widened in surprise when he was suddenly being pushed up against the bars of the handrail next to the stairs. When he saw Tyler, he could immediately start to feel his face warm up slowly, and he knew that he was going to start blushing, so he immediately looked away and kept at it even after his book was suddenly snatched out of his hands.

"Um...Everything is going fine, Tyler and I'm just reading a book about," he paused for a bit, not wanting to say something wrong, "investigations and stuff like that." Nibs, despite having obvious likings for Tyler, still wanted to play his cards carefully in order to avoid causing a scene between the raccoon and himself. However, he decided to pull one card of bravery by sort of holding his hand out a bit and asking, "Can I...have that back now?"

He smirked at him and held his book up high in the air and said, "Maybe. That depends if your willing to get down and dirty to get it. Huh, tell you what, you go down on the ground and give me fifty push-ups and its yours. Hmmm, what do you say Batty Boy? You enough of a male to actually use some physical strength and do some pushups? Or are you willing to actually fight me for it."

Nibs frowned as he watched Tyler suddenly hold above his head like he was holding some bait on a fishing hook and Nibs was the fish. As much as this really bothered him, he decided not to take it too hard, not yet at least. Instead, he did the thing that everyone would do, and that was suddenly jump up an attempt to grab the book. Sure, this may have been a bad idea because Tyler could easily knock Nibs on his ass or toss the book away, but he didn't care.

Tyler smirked and when Nibs went to try and jump for the book, he pushed him down off the stairs to the grass below. "Come on Nibs," He said with a cocky look, jumping on top of him, and pinning him on the ground, "You can do better then that."

Nibs let out a grunt as he fell onto his rear when he was pushed off the stairs and onto the grass below. He was about to get back onto his feet until Tyler suddenly pinned him down on his back. Being unable to move wasn't comfortable, so he squirmed. But what made this even worse was that he could feel his cheeks getting warmer from blushing so hard now. It would be impossible to miss the bat's heavy blushing. He didn't say or do anything other than just stare at Tyler in the eyes. To him, Tyler looked beautiful, but of course, he kept that to himself for obvious reasons. So he just continued to stare with wide eyes.

Tyler was quiet for a minute, unsure what to think, all he could tell was that Nibs looked kinda cute looking him into his eyes like this. He paused, but quickly regained his composure and said, "What are you doing looking at me like that, huh, take your book back and go to class," He said, climbing off him and running in the building, bitting his bottom lip in confusion.

Nibs sat up slowly, rubbing his head a bit as he watched Tyler walk off. He was still blushing as he sat in the grass for a few seconds, daydreaming about things. However, when the thought of school came into mind along with being late, he immediately got up and grabbed his book before jogging back up the stairs and into the school. The warning bell was going to ring any second now and Nibs didn't want to be late on his first day. All the attention would freak him out.

Upon reaching his locker, he immediately started to put anything he wouldn't need in there, occasionally double checking to make sure he wasn't putting away the wrong thing. Sometimes he would look around though because he had a hunch Tyler wasn't done with him.

Not that he minded anyway.
