A Land Devided (private)

[Rye]

Grey skies cast over the land. The town of Grimsby , a quaint little town , or rather used to be. The town fell to revolts a little more than a year ago. Not technically under the control of the dark lord who had taken up the conquerors mantle. It wasn't clear where he or she came from. News didn't travel too fast, but all that was certain was towns , castles , land , all fell before back handed corruption and army's flying a dark banner. Grimsby wasn't under his control , but was pretty close to it , various armies passed through , the mayor was dead and rebels took control of the town. The temple was ransacked , the town hall just a meeting hall for planned raids on any paddler foolish to travail into a area controlled by brigands and rebels. The tavern was still available, although was much to the same function as the fallen town hall , only with more drink available. It was a dark town , no law or order, bodies of former town guard hung from wooden signs , any valuables stripped from them. The streets were little more than muddy waterlogged trails. Most of the old houses and shops were shut up , raided or empty.

The tavern was one half bar and one half brothel , two booming industries since the law and order fell apart in the town. A boy worked there, one of only a few children not belonging to whores. He was technically the towns priest After the last one was hoisted up by the neck of the bell tower and left to hang. He was just an assistant, but the only one left He worked in the bar, clearing drinks and serving food. Putting up with a few sexual passes from those mistaking him from the brothel, but a quick tongue got them to move on to where they wanted to be.
He was rather sweet looking , platinum blond hair , grown long and covering his left eye , which was bandaged up ; most of them hidden by his hair. He wore some stained white bar clothes and a set of shorts. He walked barefoot , not much money in the terms of tips for him to afford much. His one free eye was a radiant green one.

The bar was quiet during the day , which was good for him. He was resting at the side of the room, listening to the rain pattering on the wooden roof. He rubbed his eye , he had been up all night serving people. But today was a raid , so they wouldn't back for some time.

The town of Grimsby was no target to Aelieth. Not at all actually. As the female warrior moved trough the street, she saw nothing that would interest her. She was tired, she had been walking for days now. The tall, well built woman walked up to what seemed to be a tavern. Her clothes were torn, showing a little too much than she was comfortable with.

She opened the door to the tavern, and walked up to the boy. "What's a sprout like you doing here?" she asked him as she sat by the bar

[Rye]

Luke sprang up as she entered "hello m'lady" he chirped "What can I get you , drink , men , women? We have rooms too in the back" he said , trying to smile although he was just too worn out to get anything. "Oh , I work here. Got to work somewhere" he said looking for the bartender , but knew he was probably passed on on the ale again. So it would be up to him to serve the traveller.

"A boy like you should not be in a city like this. Where are your parents?" she woman asked as she stretched and loosened her armor for a bit. Her hair waved as she undid it of it's ties.

[Rye]

"New in town? Dead. Most citizens were hung or killed when the rebels moved in and took over. You saw he bodies on the way in. That's what's left of the city guard. There's no law here" he replied with a sigh. It made him a little sad at times. "Make yourself at home. I'll get a fire going" he said getting up and heading to the stone fireplace.

She looked at him "oh... you poor thing... so you're all alone her?!" she asked, being a little shocked. She walked up to him, lying a hand on the boy's shoulder

[Rye]

He flinched when he was touched "I-I was helping at the church , before they raided it....They looked after me there for a little bit. Although the gods seem to have been looking the other way that day" he sighed as he got the fire going "there we go , you can warm up there" he said getting back up "some of the other kids were sold , or killed , or other thing" he shrugged "the bartender wanted someone to work for free here so they gave me to him."

She looked at him. "that is too harsh for a little sprout like you to have to live trough. Tomorrow, you are comming with me. We will find you a better place" she said as she stroke his hair

[Rye]

"b-but I can't leave. I have a bed here, and they won't be happy if I run away. They'll find me and punish me for doing it" he whimpered, feeling like he didn't have much of a choice.

"Sweetie, a child like you should not be here. I hereby take you under my wing. You are under my protection." she said clearly, in an 'there is no choice' way.
