Honestly I can't even remember a time when I didn't need diapers. I remember once though when I was 16, I woke up late for school and didn't have time to change my wet diaper. So I went to school in it, about 3 hours in, I felt myself peeing again and didn't have a spare so I had told them I was sick and they sent me home.
Another story, this is 2 in one as they both were at the same job. So I worked at OfficeMax when I was in college, I was 21 when I was there. I was extremely sick and did not want to call off, so I put on the thickest diaper I had at the time (it was a Bambino Total Dry XPlus I think) and I was put at register. About 2 hours in, I had flooded my diaper to the point it was running down my legs and I had no change of clothes. I had to tell my boss about it and was super embarrassing because I had no idea that I needed to change at all til that happened. So I am standing there in the middle of the sales floor in wet pants explaining to my manager what happened.
This other story is from a few months after that. So I had worked my normal shift and was told that I would be working overnight that night. I didn't mind as I knew I would be up for it. During the night, however, I was walking around and felt a damp patch on the back of my leg. Sure enough, I realize that my diaper has leaked. I guess my boss noticed it because he told me like 10 minutes later to go home. I was ironically about to ask of I could run to the Walmart down the road from my store to get a clean pair of pants but I am glad I didn't have to stay, the night was horribly dull as the floor waxing and cleaning crew was dreadfully slow so we jad nothing to do during the night.
So yeah, those are my stories. Like I said, I honestly can't even remember a time when I didn't need diapers so I can't say they were the cause of the issues.
