Max couldn't believe how crazy it had been for her and how crazy each day seemed to get. It didn't seem to slow down or stop at all. To an extent Max didn't like how everything was going from her class and to her life in general.

She liked that she and Chole were now friends again but they tended to butt heads a lot. Max also doubted that Chole actually forgave her for everything that she had or more accurately for things she did not do. Max hated that she was a coward and wanted to change that about her but it was hard and with Nathan on her back now all she wanted to do was go and hide somewhere. The school didn't feel safe. Victoria was being difficult but she always tended to be difficult no matter what and Max wasn't sure what to make of the rich girl at all.

Then there was Kate.

Max never thought she would end up 'saving' someone and how hard it was to stay calm at all. Her anxiety and nervousness had gone up tenfold since that day with Kate on the roof. It was hard to sleep and she felt sick all the time. Nightmares were normal and so was wetting the bed at night much to her embarrassment.

Class was over for the day and she just wasn't feeling herself. She didn't really want to do with Chole now nor anyone else for that matter. Max walked slowly through the hall planning on just going to bed.

Kate was currently alone in her room, crying. In this continuity she wasn't taken to the hospital, and just had her face buried in her hands, feeling absolutely awful for what she did earlier. It hurt. A lot. Just seeing Max's face killed her. And when Max was able to pull her favorite verse, that just made everything hurt more. But it hurt in a good way after, and she would never forget Max for that.

So as she heard the girls soft footsteps, she quickly opened the door "Max... it's okay... I'm safe now. You don't need to worry anymore..." she said softly, hugging her friend as she could tell everything was getting to her again. "Here... why don't you stay the night with me Max? We can talk... and get over everything together..." she suggested, though, by the fact that she was already pulling the brunette teen into her dorm room, it was quite obvious that it wasn't really a suggestion.

Max wasn't that surprised by how quickly the door opened or that Kate was crying giving everything that happened earlier. It had been rough for Kate and Max felt like a asshole for even being upset over herself and becoming emotional. It was Kate who needed support not her and yet the moment she felt Kate's arms around her Max started to cry softly onto her friend's shoulder unable to help herself at all.

"I can't help but worry," she said, "I feel awful and I should of done more for you," she paused, "y-yeah that sounds good." stammered Max wiping her eyes a little as she found herself pulled into Kate's dorm room. It would be good if they stayed together and maybe she wouldn't have a nightmare knowing that Kate was next to her? Maybe she wouldn't even wet the bed? Max smiled nervously because of her new found anxiety, "H-how have you been doing?" she asked trying to be strong and supportive for Kate.

Kate hugged Max tightly "It's okay Max... you've done everything you possibly can. It doesn't just take an average friend to know as much about me as you do..." she reassured her brunette friend. "You've opened my eyes again Max... and I'm forever in your debt." she smiled "Max... I love you." she said shyly. She wasn't sure if it was truly romantic love, but she felt like Max was part of her real family, not the people who raised her. "I'm okay Max... I'm okay... don't make me save you now." she joked a little.

Max didn't want to cry again having just gained some control over herself but being hugged tightly by Kate caused Max to sob loudly and cling to her tightly, "Y-your my friend I would do anything to save you if I could," said Max, "no matter the risk or cost I don't want to see you in pain ever again if I can do something to help it," whimpered Max softly as she cried listening to Kate only to become somewhat surprised by her words, "I-I love you too." replied Max just as unsure as Kate was about the meaning behind her words but she did love Kate. She loved how kind, gentle and sweet she was and how caring she was to everyone around her. It amazed her that someone like Kate even existed! Max laughed only to choke on one of her sobs at the slight joke, "I-I'll be okay!" replied Max with a grin despite her tears, "Don't worry about me! We need to look after you." she added with a smile despite going through her own emotional roller-coaster.

Kate held Max in her arms tightly as the girl sobbed, caring more for her best friend than she did for herself. Though she was worried Max felt the exact same way. No progress could ever be made if they only cared about each other! But she didn't know what else to say right now. "Max... I don't believe that for a second." Kate simply said "You are a good person Max, don't let Victoria or Nate take that away from you. Chloe and I both know it. But you need just as much help as I do Max... I can feel it. Let me help you. No one else even has to know. Just you and me Max. Okay?" Kate asked sweetly, rubbing Max's back as they continued their embrace for the moment being.

Max rested her head against Kate's shoulder as she cried softly trying her best to contain herself not let her emotions get in the way. Max didn't want to burden Kate at all! She knew that it was okay to lean on Kate or Chole if she needed it but she felt scared for different reasons. Kate had her own problems and so did Chole. Why couldn't she do more to help those she cared about? It wasn't fair. Max smiled weakly at Kate surprised to hear that she was a 'good' person by Kate at all, "I should of stuck up for you more and I should stand up more to both Victoria and Nath," she paused, "I should just be doing more to help others but I'm not," said Max, "I feel so stupid." she added knowing that it was unfair to dump and unload this onto Kate.

Max looked at Kate, "Just us?" questioned Max softly almost as a whisper wondering what that truly meant and yet the idea of her and Kate together somehow made her feel a bit more happy, "That'd be nice," said Max, "Chole has a lot of stuff going on a-and I don't want to mess up anymore then I already have with her I don't think she's even really forgiving me for just leaving her like I did when we were kids." she added filled with guilt.

Kate smiled as she kept rubbing Max's back while the girl cried "It's okay Max... no more tears..." she said softly. "I promise... I'm okay now. Mostly. Just meeting you has made my life a million times better than it was before Max..." she whispered and even gently laid her lips upon Max's cheek for a moment before pulling off with another bright blush. "You don't need to do anything Max... what you did for me was purely out of the goodness of your heart. You didn't need to do that. You don't have any bigger duty than anyone else in this world Max..." she said softly, and gently swayed back and forth as they hugged, kind of like calming an unruly child

"Don't worry... eventually Chloe will grow up enough to understand that you didn't have a choice when you left Max. But yes, just the two of us. We'll take some time off from school... my father I'm sure would be willing to pay for a room for the two of us... after all, he's just as grateful that you saved me Max."

Max nuzzled her head against Kate's shoulder whimpering softly glad to hear that Kate was mostly okay but that didn't change the fact that she felt so scared and just wanted to cling to Kate no matter what. The feelings she felt and had for Kate were terrifying it didn't feel like a normal crush at all it felt worse but it wasn't 'love' yet it was 'love' just maybe not romantic or maybe it was? She didn't know and she felt so conflicted by her feelings. She had a crush on Chole but she doubted that the punk really cared for her in that way at all nor had she really made a move on Chole at all.

Max smiled as the kiss, "You're so sweet," she replied blushing just as brightly but smiling now, "it feels like I do," said Max knowing that she couldn't reveal her powers to Kate right now at this second giving how emotional she felt and she didn't want to scare Kate at all, "I hope Chole understands but it wasn't just leaving I didn't even return her calls or say a single word to her at all." she added with a frown only to quickly smile again.

"Getting away from here sounds good but are you sure? I don't want him or you to be out of pocket in anyway." said Max continuing to hug and cling to Kate like a child.

Kate smiled, thinking it was almost cute how childish Max was acting, clinging to her like a baby. But she definitely wouldn't say that as she was afraid it might hurt the girls feelings. She then pulled Max off of her for a second "Hey. This is about you now. And yes I'm sure. You are such a great person Max, no amount of money would be too much to help you." Kate replied seriously, before pulling Max right back into their tight embrace.

"She'll get over it." Kate simply replied in relation to the whole Chloe thing "She's still one of your best friends Max, and you're still definitely hers, even if neither of you want to see it or admit it." she smiled, and wiped away a few tears from Max's face.
