How do you feel about a meteor the size of a garage passing within 9,000 miles (14,000 kilometers) of the earth? here's the article http://cosmiclog.msnbc.msn.com/archi...aspx?GT1=43001

If it's only about the size of a garage, it wouldn't have done that much damage though. I wouldn't wanna be near it, regardless.

yeah, just think though, it could've been bigger, so it might be possible that we may get hit by a meteor in 2012

Well... When the time comes for the Meteor of Earthly Doom to knock on our door, the situation won't be any better from the fact that we worried over it for three centuries before it happened. It's like worrying over if the plane you're sitting on is going to crash: you worrying over it will achieve little, but ruin your experience of the flight. So do yourself a favor and stop worrying.
If we want to do something about it; why don't we stop going to war for only a little while and start trying to get into space? Colonize the moon or something.

Mayans didn't have folk beliefs relating to "oh-my-gods-it-is-the-end-of-the-world" mentality.

Damn those Hollywood New Agers who spews unrealistic beliefs for money.

Oh, I'm not that butthurt over wars in general. I'd be encouraging more people to fight, if only to have some decent entertainment and to rid the world of some useless population, had it not been for the fact that modern warfare is generally unhealthy for the environment, and it takes resources that could've been spent better.

Ever read a book called "The 37th Mandala"?

It's about exactly what you just posted. Some guy learns about these elder gods and, neglecting the fact that everyone says not to screw with them, turns all writings about them into a self-help book. Naturally, chaos follows, but instead of people being sad about the world (NOT) ending, its mini Ktulu's ripping people up and stuff.

It's from the guy who wrote the Half-Life games.
