An RP About a Train...A Very Special Train

The title is most definitely in the process of being changed. However, this idea struck me after I was in a rather interesting chat room with some rather interesting people.

The premise is this:

You've got a ticket for a train. How you got this ticket is completely up to you, whether it's sheer coincidence, fate, or what have you. The destination on the train ticket is unclear, but you feel strangely attracted to wanting to get on the train anyway. Almost as if it's your calling.

This is no ordinary train. It's the old locomotive type, coal engines, cabooses and all. And the Conductor (which would be my character) has this strange aura about him; not necessarily evil, but not necessarily good, either. He also seems to appear in whatever scenario the train throws its passengers into.

The train will stop at various places, all depending on your character, what they do, what they want, and who they bond with while on the train. Just be forewarned that some of the stops are...unearthly, to say the least! Maybe some freakish creature needs to be fought, or maybe you'll face a mirror image of yourself. Sometimes you might find yourself overcoming these obstacles on your own, while other times might require you to seek the aid of those on the train.

Now for the Rules:

1.) Your character MUST be original. That means NO character from an anime show like Naruto or Bleach. Some of you have seen the post on our cry for improving Roleplaying on this site. Well, here's your shot.

2.) While spelling/grammar do not have to be perfect, pleaseeeee make an effort to make your sentences legible. I understand many of you struggle with spelling and grammar, but there are two things you can do: Copy and Paste your block of text into a Word Processor and use spell check, or download Firefox, as it has a spell check built into the browser.

3.) Slowly but surely reveal a back story on your character! This can be when you're riding on the train with fellow travelers or when in the heat of battle or some other crazy scenario you get thrown into on one of the train's many stops. I'm looking for decent character development here.

4.) As much as many of you seem to enjoy the involvement of diapers/babying in your Roleplaying sessions (and as much as I'd like to give it a shot) I'm going to say for this particular RP, none of that please...at least without my permission. And here's why: someone always has a diaper that needs changing and they continue to whimper and whine until someone else changes it. And then it turns into one-liners that take away from the RP.

5.) As the Conductor, I have the right to discharge people from the train when I feel it necessary. This doesn't necessarily mean you can't come back into the RP, but it DOES mean if you're out of the loop or your character's growing stale, then you'll have to create a new character.

6.) Please no posts that look like this: (okay ummm wut r we doing now?) It's a waste of space, and if you're confused, simply PM me or write on my wall or whatever it is they call it on this site.

7.) If you're going to be away for a while, please let me know ASAP If I don't hear from you for 48 hours without prior notice, I'll consider your character to be KIA or left behind at one of the stops!

Space is going to be limited to around three or four people NOT including myself at first. We'll see how well it goes before more can become involved. I'm not necessarily experienced in RPing, but I feel like this'll be my shot to let my imagination flow freely, as well as get to know a few of you folks.

Name: Conductor Mayhews, aka "The Conductor"

Age: Unknown, but appears to be in his thirties.

Location: The Train.

Origin: It's rumored that Conductor Mayhews is an entity or spirit. Some even say he is, or was, a god at one point, but it's unclear as to just where he comes from. (This will be revealed later in the RP)

Abilities: Conductor Mayhews has a few unique abilities up his sleeve. For one, he can assume the form of anyone he sees, or anything he feels based off of somebody's inner most feelings. This includes freakish monsters, loved ones, and other paranormal things. He's also very good with firearms and small blades. Almost too good.

Appearance: He wears your typical Conductor's uniform; navy blue with golden lace around each arm. His hat is slightly tilted sideways and his black leather shoes make him appear very professional.

Personality: It varies. He's cynical, cunning, mean, ruthless, kind, and caring. It all depends on who he interacts with while on The Train.

That's my description, and it will go more in depth as we move this along. I urge you to attempt to follow suit with this type of description. And please remember rule number 2.

Samiel, I'd love a short biography. It doesn't have to be detailed like crazy because I'd like to see characters develop as The Train moves along its strange tracks.

Sounds like a plan! I'll be using my usual OC, Samiel.

Name: Samiel Mortlock

Location: Erehwon, a large island a few hundred miles off the East Coast of the united states.

Abilities: He's pretty fit and athletic, having had to deal with kids for most of his life. He's also got sharp hearing and eyesight as a result--but just very good human attributes--nothing superhuman. He's just a regular guy, really.

Appearance: He's very tall, about 6'0, with long, dark hair, somewhat noble features--an aquiline nose, a strong chin, dark brown eyes, but not ridiculously overdone. He's clean shaven, and carries himself rather proudly.

Personality: He's kind and sweet, but he has a bit of a temper, and it sometimes gets the best of him. He won't pass up a chance to help someone else, though. Unless they get on his bad side first, of course.

Name: Steve "_____" (He's not fond of handing out his last name willy-nilly)

Age: 24

Location: The Train

Origin: Steve grew up in a small town in the continental United States. (He's also not fond of handing out personal information) He had two parents, an older brother, and two younger sisters. He recently went to college to receive a degree in Molecular Engineering, but he generally dislikes work and dull things (like science) as a whole, so it was a mystery to all who knew him as to why he would study something that would displease him so much.

Abilities: The only practical ability anyone has been able to deduce from him is his innate wit and cunning intellect. Any other talents he might have are either kept secret by him, or no one has bothered to find them out.

Appearance: Steve isn't incredibly tall, measuring in at about 5'8". He has dusty brown hair and green eyes with flecks of hazel. His apparel is a typical white button-down shirt with no tie and the top button unbuttoned, brown slacks, a light-blue undershirt, and a pair of worn leather loafers. He also always wears a peculiar necklace, but he keeps the pendant hidden underneath his shirt at all times, so nobody knows what it is or what it may symbolize.

Personality: Steve isn't exactly shy. In fact, he's rather outgoing if he wants to be. The fact is, he rarely wants to be. He views social interaction as more of an annoyance than anything else, and he'd much rather keep to himself than shoot the breeze. If he must talk with someone, he tries to give out as little information as possible about himself, instead focusing more on the other person. Even in his minimal conversation, though, it's easy to pick up his wit and inherent intelligence. His general aura gives off a feeling of respectfulness and well-intention.

As soon as Widdle gets his bio up, we shall begin! Doesn't look like this is as popular as I'd thought it would be, but that's fine! I'm already liking the roster of RPers, so it'll be fun

Samiel, I'm sorry to hear that! You take all the time you need to recover. That is a special circumstance, and the Train will make constant "stops" at stations, so you can hop aboard whenever you feel ready.
