The Remote

Johnathan sighed as he finished screwing the back panel onto the back of the remote he had been working on. After months of ordering parts from sketchy websites, looking at his blueprintsr, and banging his head against the wall it was finally finished. A remote that could alter reality in any way.

"Now time for a test run." He said, flipping the smooth black remote in his hands, the glowing buttons pulsing, and looked around his room. Smiling as he saw his TV minding its own business her pointed the remote at the screen and pressed a blue button. In an instant the old flat screen TV vanished just to reappear on the wall with a sleek new design, almost twice the original size. "HAHA! IT WORKS! FINALLY!" He cheered jumping up to his feet and sitting the remote down.

There was a quick, soft knock on the door, followed by the sounds of the doorbell. By the looks of it, it seems that Jonathan's sister, Lily, had just returned home from school and was asking to be let in - of course, she didn't know exactly what the remote was, but the girl had saw him tinkering around with a few things (He was sort of a prodigy at things like machines) and knew that he was making something.

John sighed as he heard his sisters demands to be let in. He didn't need to be a genius to know that it was his little sis wanting to see what gadgets had been working on. And normally it wasn't an issue since normally it was a drone he patched together or him fixing something for her. But sharing this newest piece of tech wasn't the smartest move. Especially since it was quite powerful. But he left his room and opened the front door for his sister.

"Sup Lily, forget your key again?" He asked her as he held the door open for her. "Go ahead and get a snack and watch some cartoons. But I'm at the tail end of my project and I need to focus." He informed her, shutting the door and locking it when she finally managed to get in.

The blond-haired girl sighed as she reluctantly nodded, before the door quickly opened and the rather short girl let herself in at her brother's word "Yeah... I think it's in my bedroom." Lily nodded rather sheepishly, though she quickly squinted her eyes as she heard him talk about the 'project'... it also was rather obvious that the TV's changed. "Um, when did we get that...?" The girl mused as the door close behind her, looking at it suspiciously, before staring back at him.

"Ok pleased make sure you have it. Who knows how long you would have been out there if I was away." He chided her and winced when she asked about the TV. "It's new. I just got it today." He explained and it wasn't a lie both statements were technically true. He just didn't buy a new TV. "How about you go ahead and watch something on it. You'll be the first person to sonar I've been to busy to watch-." He statyed to say when there was another knock. Probably another package from a shady site. "Ok yeah go... go.. shoo.' He ordered not needing her wrapped up in his shady tactics. So he slipped outside to take care of the package and deliverer.

She eyed her brother suspiciously, looking around the room "Did you make that or something? No way you got it like this..." Lily thought about it, but shrugged as she simply made her way towards her room. Though she did suddenly pause as she saw a glimpse of an object on the table - a remote. Has there always been there? Was it for the new TV? She thought it was, but the symbols just didn't match, and it didn't look much like a TV remote at all... That must be his new invention! Lily thought to herself. It couldn't hurt to take a small peak, could it...?

Well if she wanted to try it out then now was the perfect time as Johnathan argued with the delivery guy. The project was done, the remote was finished, he didn't need the parts anymore. He could just make them if he needed them. But sadly the guy was being difficult with their 'no return policy'. Which was fair considering it was a dark web website so he wasn't sure how a return would work. But he didn't need the part and wanted his money back.

Her big brother wasn't her right now... and, looking around and not seeing anybody, she slowly set her school bags to the side as she ran over in front of the "new" TV as she looked at the remote. Lily picked it up as she inspected it - it looked very odd, that's for sure. She wondered what her brother intended to do with it... the girl picked it up and held it in front of her towards the TV as she moved to press the buttons as she would do on a regular TV remote.

As soon as she clicked on one of the buttons the TV seemingly disappeared from existence. The wall was free from any brackets or screws as well. But on the ground a black cat with orange popped up and looked around. "Mrow?" The cat mused quizzically before taking a wobbly step forward towards the girl. Rubbing against her leg and purring as it reached her.

"Ok fine I'm taking it, hesh." Johnthan said as he opened the door with the package in his hand. "You don't gotta be so pushy about it dude." He mumbled shutting the door behind him and rolling his eyes. "Ok Lily I'm back!" He announced as he locked the door behind him.

Lily looked at the cat, her mouth agape as she held the cat in her arms. How did it get here...? Where did the TV go...? She had so many questions - was it the power of the remote? If this remote can really do anything... the possibilities in her mind were endless. Especially if it could affect people like his brother... well, let's just say some of those possibilities weren't all that great. "Um, Hi..." Lily slowly said as she patted the cat, looking rather nervous with the remote in her hands.
