Tips to prevent leaking! (A guide)
How to avoid leaks!
Here are some tips for everyone to avoid leaking, which will help prevent messy and embarrassing situations!
1. Finding the right diaper/Pull-up.
The best thing is to find the right diaper for the right situation. Wearing a thin diaper that doesn’t hold a lot and planning on wearing it all day isn’t a smart idea. Make sure you know the capacity of the diaper, and try to pick something that fits your schedule. This is more of a problem if you wear more often or go out into public while wearing then people who wear in the privacy of their own home.
2. The right size.
The next important thing is the right size. Make sure it fits your waist size to avoid it being too tight or too loose. If the diaper is too loose, then you might leak out the legs because the leg gatherers aren’t able to do their job. If it’s too tight, then it’s generally just uncomfortable to wear.
3. When in public, make sure you know how much your diaper can hold.
Once again, just pointing this out. Try not to go if you think the diaper is going to leak. Go a little at a time, and let the diaper absorb it. If you go all at once, the diaper might not be able to take it all in at once, and there is a high chance you’ll leak.
4. When going, spread your legs a bit.
This may seem awkward, but it helps the padding spread out a bit, which will allow it more room to absorb. If it’s crushed between your thighs, there is no place for the pee to go but out the sides. People with bigger thighs are going to have to spread their legs a bit more then people with smaller thighs.
5. If going out, bring an extra change of pants/socks.
If you should leak, this can be a lifesaver. Also bring a pair of underwear to change into in case you get tired of wearing the diaper, or something should happen. Be prepared!
6. Try to do it standing up.
Wetting standing up means there is more padding to absorb the pee, as apposed to sitting and most of it is squished underneath your butt. Lying down is the same way, though if wearing an absorbent enough diaper, it shouldn’t be a problem.
7. Plastic pants.
Plastic pants often help prevent leaks. Only problem is some of the crinkle, which can sometime be heard. Plastic grocery bags can be used as well as a cheap and apparently effective alternative method.(Thanks Friereaiz!)
8. Stuffers.
Another thing to try is putting another diaper inside the one you're wearing to add more padding to it. If you want it to work, you have to cut the outer layer (Not the padding!) of the inside diaper/pull-up so it can leak into the padding on the outside. This also works well if you want to thicken your diaper up.(Thanks Stevie!)
9. Leak Guards.
Leak guards are important! You want to make sure you get diapers with leak guards, which, as the name suggest, help prevent leaks! Make sure they are on the outside of the legs so they can do there job properly!(Thanks LinusBlueSnow88!)
10. Backwards.
With the "cheaper" brands of diapers, if you wear them backwards, they apparently hold more. I'm going to give this a try next time I have some cheap diapers.. or if someone else who uses cheap diapers wants to try it out. It does make sense those, considering more of the front where the most padding is will take the pee, rather then the back where there is thinner padding.(Thanks victoriahnichole!)
11. Controlled Release.
This was one I experimented with (Well, CatharticLluna and I) and found it to work quite well. With this, you pee a little and stop, pee a little and stop. You keep doing this until your done. This allows the diaper to absorb everything as fast as your giving it, which shouldn't be too fast when you do it like this. This is great for cheaper diapers that can't absorb quickly. (Thanks CatharticLluna for reminding me!)
Remember, everyone wets different amounts, and different diapers absorb different amounts in different places. This isn’t foolproof, but it should help stop some leaking.
I wrote this to help people out. Hopefully you find use for it.. and I hope someone else hasn't already done this.. Lemme know how things go! I'll probably add more things as I think of them, or let me know if I forgot anything you think is important.

This is great! Next, you should review diapers and make recommendations specific to each case. n.n I'll bring the powder!

one thing I did to prevent leaks was using a plastic bag, well 2 and after putting a pullup on I would put a small hole in the bag and slide my feet through slowly so the holes would be tight, and repeating this with another bag, that way I wouldn't leak and if you're worried about lying down then use some tap around only the top of the bag to make it tight then wearing some briefs. it may seem a little overdone but I still live at home and couldn't risk any leaks. Not sure if this will help anyone but I found it helpful.

The plastic bags work as cheap plastic pants. I'll add it to the list though, thanks. =) It's not a bad idea besides the loud crinkle...

also a tip for leaking if you only really pee them try using a baby diaper or 2 inside the adult one poking a few holes in the outer shell. each one all most doubles the amount pee the diaper will hold before leaking as long as you don't flood them all at once.
