Punishment and reward system:

The Quinn's have a simple, but unique system of punishing consistent naughtyness, and rewarding good behavior. It's the Star and X system.

Each child's name is listed on a chart on the living-room wall. Beside it are two columns that will be cleared at the end of each month.

One for stars, and one for X's. Stars cannot erase X's, and X's do not take away stars. This removes the idea that being naughty is alright if you make up for it with sweetness. You shouldn't be naughty ever.



★ Stars are easy to earn. Most kids will be able to get ten without breaking a sweat. Be helpful. Be kind. And just generally be a good kid. An adult will notice, and stick a star up beside your name. More impressive actions are worth more stars.


- ★ - For 10 stars, you get a small treat. A favorite candy/snack, or getting to pick out a movie or game to rent. Maybe a small toy, like a matchbox car, or play jewelry. Teens can ask for small things that they'd like. Typically not over $5.

- ★ - For 20 stars, you can pick out something bigger. Maybe you want a new teeshirt, or earrings. Think $20 and under.

- ★ - For 30 stars, and you get a special day out with one of the Quinn's, to do whatever you want. Special attention time wherever you would choose to have it, just you and daddy. It could be the zoo, or the beach, or as simple as a picnic in the park. Alternately, you can ask for a big gift that you'd like. A new video game, or a new outfit. A bigger toy. Think between $30-$50

- ★ - For 30+ stars: In the event that a child is so well behaved, so helpful, and so overwhelmingly good as to earn more than 30 stars, a special reward will be discussed with them. Likely being quite spoiled on their day out. But it's upto the child themselves to ask for something extra special if they want it.



X's are just as easy to earn, but absolutely no fun once they add up. Just like with stars, more naughty deeds means more X's up on your chart. Talking back would be 1, but pulling your sister's hair? That's 5. And so on.

- X - For 10 X's, you can expect a lecture, and maybe a small bottom warming, if an adult feels you've earned it. Maybe an hour with a pacifier in your mouth to get you thinking correctly and mouthing off less. Whatever the punishment, it will be mild.

- X - For 20 X's, You can expect to be in pampers for at least a day, if not more. Likely with a sore tushie. Maybe with pigrtails.

- X -For 30 X's, FBT for at least a day, if not more. 30 stars worth of misbehavior is an impressive amount, and anyone who's earned it has likely gone beyond deserving the treatment.


Any non-adult seen removing or adding stars or x's to the chart will be punished.


But, sometimes actions are big enough on their own to warrant a punishment then and there on the spot.
Here, we have a tier system for punishments:

Tier One: General brattery.
Tier one, generally, is resolved with a sore backside. It includes such transgressions as talking back, forgetting homework, lying, forgetting chores, coming home late, or others along this line. Careless and rude, but mostly harmless brattyness. Small things will be met with a few swats, larger with a full on spanking. Additional punishments, such as diapering for a short time, mouth soaping for swearing, may be given. Repeat offenses can add up to a higher tier. (Most of these offenses will add at least one X to your chart, if not more)

Tier Two: Advanced Brattery
Tier two is where you start getting into more trouble. Repeat offenders land here, as do those who get into small fights, or other more advanced types of trouble. Diapers for a are implemented for a few days time, along with spankings. Girlish clothing is also a possibility, and an option, depending on the transgression, and severity, along with the child's attitude.

Tier Three: FBT Offenses
Getting into tier three is not an easy task. These offenses usually revolve around large fights, breaking critical house rules (drug use, truancy, or worse) or repeat tier two offenses. FBT (Full Baby Treatment) is applied. Sized up baby clothes, baby programming, baby toys... And spankings.

Tier Four: The Danger Zone
Please don't reach tier four. That's when things start getting... Banny. Things like repeatedly getting FBT without any progress, and showing no remorse for past crimes get you here. Kids who are incorrigible are sent off to military school, until they learn to behave themselves. (Generally, this means a ban for several weeks, if not permanently)
