What Happens After a Broken Arm.(private)

Tom sulked in his room, glaring at his broken arm. He couldn’t believe it. His mom was making him wear pull-ups because of it! He was 7 years old for crying out loud, a certified big kid! Just ‘cause he couldn’t really use his right arm for a few weeks, didn’t mean he needed to wear pull-ups! Though, his mom knew better than him. He already had enough trouble getting his shorts off in time to go to the bathroom with both of his hands available. Though, he’d never admit that to himself. His mom always treated him like a baby!

His mom couldn’t really be blamed though. He still had a few babyish habits he had yet to kick. For example, bedtime without at least one of his many stuffies nearby and his pacifier was an absolute nightmare. Also up until a few months ago, he still wore actual diapers to bed. Even his big brother treated him a bit like a baby, but he wasn’t as bad as his mom. The boys had always got along very well, with the elder always taking care of and loved looking after Tom, and in turn, Tom adored his big brother and wanted to be just like him.

That’s why his mom felt safe leaving for an extended business trip to deal with a few unruly clients. She made a lot of money and worked long hours, but she always tried to make time for her kids. She didn’t delegate raising her kids to a nanny, but at the times when she had to leave for extended peroid of times for work, she did usually hire a babysitter. At her older son’s insistence though, she didn’t this time. She was a bit reluctant, but her oldest was very mature for his age and independent and wanted to take care of himself and his baby brother. She was reluctant at first, but she trusted him and agreed.

She didn’t expect any troubles from them; they were both good kids and not spoiled despite being raised in luxury. Her friends adored her children for that reason. Many of them owned several homes across the country, and if the boys wanted to come and visit the properties, they were more than welcome. Her friends were not to be made enemies of, or things would go very...poorly for said enemy. That’s why she knew her kids were safe. Nobody would be stupid enough to cross her children while her friends protected them. She tried to keep her kids ignorant of just what exactly her friends did; she wanted them to just think of them as their sweet Uncles and Aunts.

For his part John had nothing more than a few small cuts, maybe a bruise or two but nothing more. The 13 year old did feel really bad about his little brother though because not only had he been the cause of his little brother breaking his arm as the two played hide and seek but his mother had seen fit to take him back to pull ups, not that the older of the two would dare mention it. John loved his little brother, though he knew the younger must have been berating himself over his need for the pull-ups, which is why he had went out to personally buy a few things for him that was sure to make him feel better

John has a smile on his face as he moved dow the long, elegantly decorated hallway to get to his brothers room, a small kids backpack draped over his arm which contained everything he needed to make his little brother smile. The wealth that the family has meant they never wanted for much, even less so in such a large manor-like home. “Tommy?” He called out from behind his room door using the babyish nickname he had given his brother. John waited only a few seconds before letting himself into the room. “Hey buddy. I brought something for you.” He stated softly going deeper into the room, managing to close the door behind him with his foot. John was especially determined to make his brother feel better, especially since their mother had left the boys alone for their first night alone to attend to one of her ‘business meetings’ whatever that was. Once the door behind him was closed John made his way straight to his little brothers bed, setting the Paw Patrol themed backpack down gently onto the bed. Do you want to see what I brought you?” He asked with a happy smile on his face, reaching out to ruffle his brothers hair, eyes glancing from his brothers cast and down to his puffy pull-up, something that he had to admit made the ‘certified big boy’ look like the most adorable baby, not that he’d ever come out and tell him, lest he embarrass him further.

Tom took a seat on the plush carpet in his bedroom. He hadn't bothered getting dressed yet, so he sat just sat in his shirt,and already damp pull up. He stayed this way mostly because he fell on his butt multiple times trying to put his pants on. If asked about it though, he'd deny it and say he was just feeling lazy. He grabbed his favorite stuffed frog and held it close. Then, he rose to his knees, in order to grab a few more of his toys when his brother knocked on the door. "Come in!" He invited in, wondering what his brother wanted.

He looked as his brother sat down his old Paw Patrol backpack. He had to get a new one after kids in school started teasing him about it. Unlike most kids his age, he liked shows like Paw Patrol better than Spongebob. He turned to his brother, and his eyes lit up as his brother mentioned getting him something. "Yeah! What'd you get me?! You gotta tell me, Johnny!" He knew it sounded kinda babyish, calling his big brother Johnny and all, but he was too darn excited to care! He really looked just like an excited toddler as he fidgeted in place. He'd look even more the part if he had his pacifier in. He usually kept it right near his bed, since he mostly kept it for bedtime. His mom and brother sometimes just plopped it in his mouth, even in the morning if he was particularly cranky or excited. He kinda liked when that happened, even if did make him look like a big baby.

John smiled looking down at his brother, his shirt coupled with his damp pull-up made his younger sibling look like a baby rather than the ‘certified big kid’ that he routinely claimed to be, a fact that John couldn’t help but think was absolutely adorable. John had stuffed his little brothers old backpack with new toys, stuffies, coloring books and something he had picked out specifically for him, a brand new baby blue pacifier with a monogrammed ‘T’ on the front of it. Plopping himself onto the floor across from his little brother, a wide smile gracing his face. He had even managed to clean up his brothers old backpack ensuring that it shined as if it were brand new. The way Tommy seemed content with watching Paw Patrol rather than the more popular shows among the kids at his school, something that made Tommy even more innocent in Johns eyes.

“You’re going to love what I got for you.” John was just as excited to show Tommy all he had gotten him and pulled the Paw Patrol backpack into his lap. unzipping it and beginning to pull out the various items. First came the toys, paw patrol themed trucks and little pup figures came first then came the blues clues plushie, even if he wasn’t too sure if Tommy watched that show still or not. “Paw Patrol stuff for the best little brother in the world and a bear of Blue from Blues Clues but that’s not all.” He explained setting the few things down directly in front of his brother before continuing to dig in the backpack. “I know you’re going to like this.” Tom added pulling out a few coloring books, the first being a Barney The Dinosaur one, bright stickers included with the book. The next few were of Paw Patrol, Sesame Street and Clifford The Big Red Dog. “I know the kids at school teased you about liking this stuff but I think it’s cute.” He commented setting the coloring books down finally getting to the main thing he had wanted to give him. Now for this next one I want you to know that I got it special for you.” John smiles ruffling his brothers hair before pulling out the monogrammed pacifier, which he had in its own special carrying case. “Open it.” He told the boy holding out the small box, a bright smile on his face making a mental note to get the tyke changed after this whole thing was over.

Tom eyed his old backpack with great interest. It looked all shiny and new. Was this the surprise John meant? He didn't expect it at all, but he felt like he missed something. He took a second look at the backpack and noticed how stuffed it was. He couldn't tell what was in it though. "It's not filled with school books right?" He asked, scrunching his nose up in distaste. He liked reading and learning new things, but school was just so boring! Everything they learned was so easy, for him at least! The only good parts about it were his friends and recess. His mom wants him to study and do his best, but he studying got so boring. He figured he could keep his good grades and while still barely ever looking at his books!

His mental tangent ended, and he looked back towards his brother as he spoke. His anticipation and excitement grew. If John said he'd like the stuff, then it must be really awesome! He watched eagerly as John brought out the Paw Patrol toys, letting out a few oohs and ahs. He gave a big grin as John took out the Blue's Clues plushy. It took more of his will power than he cared to admit to not grab the blue dog plushy immediately. He nodded eagerly as John began to take out coloring books. They were his second favorite type of book!

He pouted and puffed his cheeks out, at the cute comment. "I'm not cute. I'm a certified big boy!" He insisted, trying to sound mature. Unsurprisingly, he didn't. To be fair, looking mature was hard to do when you're sitting in a wet pull up and cuddling a plushy. "Hmm...I thought all this stuff was special for me. Do you have some other little brother I don't know about." He joked, taking the offered small box, wondering what it held. He slowly opened it and let out a delighted giggle, seeing the brand new pacifier. He nearly tackled his brother in a huge grateful hug. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" He laughed, smiling as big and as wide as he could!
