There were only a few days left to go before the big event over at Heavens Arena.

How long had it been since they had even seen the place? Gon Freeces and his best friend Killua Zoldyck have gone off to accomplish so much since their time there it almost seemed like a bit of a farce to go back.

Gon and Killua had never truly been all that impressed by the structure of that place or the rewards you got whenever you ranked up in the tower. Their only interest was fighting stronger and stronger foes. Killua himself had advanced so far and gotten so good at such a young age that what they had there wasn't impressive enough for him. At least, that's what Gon figured.

However, now, there was a new conundrum happening in a few days that could possibly change all that. The Trials of Lucifer as they were called, were about to begin. Apparently, the tower had been given quite the hefty upgrade since they had been gone. Not just new foes but a new challenge system too. These trials were said to be a sequence where you go through all the challenges they had on offer one by one to rank up and defeat your competition. Not too many opted to try it, whether it was too hard or because it was a lot easier and more straight forward just having normal fights. Who knows?

Gon just knew it sounded interesting. The challenges were said to still be broadcast everywhere they were to go as well. Forests, ice lands, new cities, small villages, and even volcanoes were areas worthy of putting the challenges at. It seemed like a nice way to also see more of the world too.

But first thing's first, he had to kick back and relax a bit more. After all, he wasn't getting any younger. With a chuckle at his own peppy joke ran along the ground with Killua a bit behind him and made it to a boardwalk just outside the tower where there were plenty of stands selling food.

He stood his ground with his hands in his shorts pockets, overlooking the fries and the ice-cream stands before making up his mind and buying one tall scoop of the three flavors. Because why not. With that, he turned and headed for the tower, not even really waiting for Killua to catch up in his eager rush to get inside. Hopefully they still allowed outside food.

Killua came in , using his feet to effortlessly propel himself forward on his skateboard. He casually blue up a pink bubblegum bubble , letting it pop before chewed it back up into his mouth to repeat the process. This would be his third tour of the arena and his top hope was that they spelt his name right on the boards. That and that that imported enough sweets to satisfy his cravings. He fancied something chewy , maybe toffee , that or maybe something exotic. He had seen the new event being plastered on every free surface available , big and red and loud they were. He guessed they thought it looked cool to the young ones but he dismissed it as a bit of a pr event to drum up some more audience members and to throw in some new merchandise to paw off to anyone with a bit too much money on them.

Having said that he would like a nice cushy hotel room up there, one up high with a long time between fights would be nice. Then again the fights should be rather fun , if not a little taxing if they went on and on. He pushed off again and turned a corner , seeing his green clothed friend standing by a balcony and skated over , stepping off and stomping on it to cause it to flip up into his hands "sup" he said casually as he stood beside him and leaned over the balcony "that looks good" he said pointing to the ice cream "you get that from outside?" he asked stretching a arm up behind his head and blowing up another bubblegum bubble and letting it pop "you see this new challenge thing?" he asked "Looks like something for us to do while we wait and make sure we don't get rusty" he offered thinking maybe he should get some fries or something "we would need to find the start up booth though" he added wondering what sort of opponents they might see, hopefully better ones than at the tower.

Gon casually and carelessly licked on his ice-cream like there was no tomorrow. He was going to town on those three scoops! That said, he always had an ear open for whatever it was that Killua had to say to him. It wasn't quite as attentive as Killua usually was, where he would sometimes catch him watching him while he slept when they were riding to new places on the train but it was enough. Gon turned to his friend with a cute splattering of ice-cream gunk on his mouth and grinned before responding with, "Why of course. That's the whole reason we came in the first place."

He took a few more licks before he answered Killua's other question. "And yeah, I got it from outside. I don't think they had a problem with me carrying it in. I know because they didn't pay it any attention when I asked them where the start up booth was. Haha. See? I was one step ahead of you." He grinned, feeling pretty good. "All we gotta do now is hope the tower has some sort of challenge awaiting us now. We've advanced far beyond what we used to be back when we first entered the place... I wonder if Zushi and Wing are still here."

Killua looked over at him and smirked "you need a bib the way your going at that. Didn't you ever get taught how to eat an ice cream like a big boy" he teased in a condensing tone , waggling a finger at him like he had down something bad. But the smile on his face betrayed his words and showed he was really just poking fun at him. "Should probably get our names down somewhere so we can enter. I don't think they'll mind , floors this clean must be cleaned frequently" he said with a shrug "Should have at least something of value , if not they'll probably kick us off for finishing it too quickly and not drawing it out like a bloodsport for the crowds" he said , at least they would get to fight someone

"Not to sure really , they might be around here somewhere training , we should try and look them up before our first fight. Anyway , I'm gonna sign up our names, meet you at the entrance and we can see where we're suppose to go to fight on the big boards down there" he said throwing his board down and getting on and gently pushing himself along towards the staircase where he gracefully trundled down towards a red desk which he presumed were the sign ups were given all the burly people standing in line were.

Gon actually blushed at Killua's comment. He knew he was joking but such a straight forward example of emasculation caught him off guard. He quickly recovered though and watched as his friend made his way out the door. "Phew... alright! I kind of want to fight right now honestly." He said to himself before taking off his green jacket and setting it down.

Killua had a ton of the burly men he saw look him over with a bit of interest. No one was scoffing at him or anything like thay. Not yet any way. But there was one person who took notice of him.

"Killua?" Zushi looked over, just a few feet away from his friend from a while back.

Killua peered up at the other contestants. He didn't pay them much notice , he guessed they thought him as a spectator or some curious kid. Made no difference to him he was fine waiting in line with no one bothering him. He looked up as he heard his name , he turned round to see where the noise had come from and saw Zushi "hey there" he called back , waving at him. He didn't want to loose his place so motioned for him to come up and join him. "Hey , how you been Zushi? Gon was just wondering how you were doing and now you're here. He's up there eating icecream. I've gotta stand here and sign us up to these fight things" he said nodding at the sign up desk as it slowly moved forward. "So you here to see something or to try moving up the tower again?" he said curiously.

Zushi smiled and trotted on over to Killua. He had a spring in his step that made him look positively happy to see his friend once again. Hearing that Gon was around wasn't surprising but it made him elated too. With a chuckle, he decided to answer Killua's question in the most grandiose way imaginable.

"I'm doing EXCELLENT!" He gave a thumbs up and winked... then had to keep walking alongside him which ruined the pose he was going for. "Uh, anyway, I've moved up the tower ranks a bit. I never stopped doing my absolute best to catch up to you. Especially since you were the one who said I'd never be able to when you left. I might surprise you if we fought now... "

He looked to the side a bit. "It was... really kind of embarrassing... training with Master for so long only for you guys to show up and out pace me in only a fraction of the time I've spent with him. I know everyone says I'm much younger and all that but it still stung a whole lot. I'm not one to accept any notion that some people are just born more exceptional than me I guess." He said, with his arms crossed. "And when you guys sign up for that thing, I'll prove it. We might even get in a nice tag-team match going. Or you could both come at just me. Either way is fine."

"You still seem enthusiastic though. I'm sure you'll catch up eventually , especially since we're off doing other things as well." he said casually "You might , but lets not do it out in the nice reception place. I can't cover damages to marble pillars and your medical bills when I'm done" he laughed. "I can get that , but you didn't see all the training we were doing before hand. It's not like beating the pulp out of you come naturally , it's just time and dedication." he said , taking his usual slouch "besides , if you go about comparing yourself to others you'll always be feeling bad since there's always some better. Sounds stupid but it's not" he said shrugging "Both of us? Well we will see , just as long as you don't mind getting hurt" he commented , getting a bit cocky "either way we'll probably see you at some point in the games"

The line moved forward and he soon got to the front where he scribbled down his and Gon's name and took down some directions on where to go to start and headed back to where he left his friend "you wanna come or do you have to get ready to fight?" he asked as he headed up the stairs "if not we can get you after you've lost , it's grapes you bring to sick bed's isn't it" he said as he headed up and went to find Gon and let him know the start times. Seems like they were up soon , he didn't check who he was up against , just that he was in fact paired up with Gon which was nice.

Zushi walked forward and wrote his name down as Killua responded to his concerns. When Killua mentioned all that stuff about hard work, time, and dedication, he almost let his face fell. He did do all that, for longer than them, and they still shot past him. It weighed on a guy... but comparing himself to others was probably a bad thing... true. But it still sucks when the only thing you're doing is just something someone else can do better.

"Do I want to come or fight? Well, I'd rather fight in the tournament really. Although a preliminary in your room might be fun." Zushi chuckled, rubbing the back of his head before his eyes widened and his face turned red when Killua snuck in that snide comment about the sick bed. He clenched his fists and steam rose from his head. "You know what? Let's have a practice match in your room after all..."

He practically stomped up the stairs after him.

Gon waited in the room, humming the theme to the anime as he tapped his fingers on the window sile. When he heard the stomping and walking he couldn't help being a bit confused. Sounded like a midget was throwing a tantrum.

"Well you can fight , but I think it's better to do so in the arena. Simply because I can then move up and win , and it's got the safety and medical staff so you don't get seriously hurt and can recover. " he replied , thinking practically , that and he didn't really want to hurt Zushi , after all he was his friend. He sided up and nudged his friend "sup. Got us signed up , you mopped up your face at all?" he asked , smirking a little , Gon sure could be childish at times. Not that it bothered him , gave him plenty of opportunists to mock him "I don't know when we're up but it should be soon hopefully, I'm getting restless just sitting here waiting" he sighed , stomping on his board to flip it up into his hands.
