It was rumored to have been a daycare long ago, but it had closed over 50 years ago and since then had been rumored to be haunted

“Well, when you pose it as a question...” Ciel responds, now unsure with the building looming over the pair imposingly. She may have been ‘short and sweet’ to her peers but when she didn’t have anything to prove or appearances to maintain the dainty-looking girl had a rough streak and a thirst for adventure.

But that adventure has always been the outdoors or maybe the occasional cave. She’d never found her way into an abandoned building before. “Lily, I....If you wanna’ turn back now, I’ll try not to remind you how you wussed out on me too often.” She egged her friend on, hoping to rile her so she had an excuse to not turn around and leave this adventure at the doorstep.

Ah crap... It’s as if Lily knew. With a deep breath, Ciel put on her best face and tried to play it smooth. “Alright then, that’s the spirit. Winners never back down!” Ciel gloats in a very uncharacteristic manner. When she was young she was the smallest of her family both in size and age, and that hasn’t changed too much even passed her eighteenth birthday and on... She was waiting for a major growth any day now, but she somewhat feared she ended up with her recessive great grabdmother’s genes for being a petite little thing... She wanted to take charge ever since she hit her early teens since she was tired of being the one doted on family wide, even if deep down she never really hated the attention.

Ceil reached for the handle, turned it and... Nothing. “Ugh, gee that’s too bad. Darn it, and I was really looking forward to exploring this place too....” Ciel made a scene in another ploy to bail, not noticing the loose shutter paneling just above the front entrance...

We might as well look around a bit I mean it's a half hour drive anywhere else she says

“Nope! We’re done, we can leave, no way in!” Ciel started to say in a singy voice. Lily had seen this before from Ciel many times - This was her way of justifying her way out of a situation like a brat... With that in mind, it would take hardly any effort to rope her back in if such an entrance was easily procured, such as the one that Ciel was conveniently not paying attention to...

nope! You drag me in this far I'm dragging you in the rest of the way she says walking past her and grabbing the back of her shirt tugging her inside the house suddenly the paneling fell off blocking any Escape

“H-hey! Let go of me, there’s no way inside! We’re wasting our time!” Ciel whined, not even realizing that they were just casually entering the building... Ciel has never even bothered to try the left handle, having validated this place’s inaccessibility based soly on the right handle....

“You’re going to stretch out my shirt, I love this shirt! I... Huh?” She said as she stopped being a whiner long enough to see that they were inside. “...Oh... We’re in... Hehe....” She played it cool, immediately turning around and putting on her ‘adventurer face’. “That’s the go-getter spirit Lily! You found a way inside despite the impenetrable exterior! Go team Ceailily!” She said bombastically, holding up her hand for a very unearned high-five.

There wasn’t much time to be left hanging when the door behind them closed with a clatter, followed by another louder clatter from just outside of the door - both of the girls were plummeted into the dark as the door slammed...

“Ahhiie! Lily, we have to find lights or leave, this place really is haunted!” Ciel whimpered, using that ‘Team Ceilily High-Five’ to instead grasp at and cling to Lily’s hand like a lost child...

lily felt around along the wall trying to find a light switch... her hands manage to find it as she flicked it on

Miraculously, light happened! Ciel almost jumped from that too from how suddenly it was. The haunted place of distress surrounding her was... A lobby, basic and boring with drab aged color on the walls and not much else to see. Of course, this connected to a hallway, and hallways were always where the adventure began in the documentaries!

...And it’s also where the first of the teenagers died to the serial killer in horror movies. “Uh...Eh he he... ummm, ladies first?” Ciel said gesturing to Lily, hoping that she wasn’t going to make good on that “you lead” statement from earlier...
