Avatar - Learning to Pottybend (Private with TheGoat and Chancellor Castro)
The gang had only barely escaped from Zuko's clutches, and were hightailing it north, away from their pursuers and continuing their journey to the Northern Water Tribe. Once in the air, Appa took over, and Katara was finally able to catch her breath.
"I don't understand how they keep finding us!" she shouted to no one in particular. "No matter where we go, Zuko's right behind us." She laid down on her side and stared at Aang. He may have been the Avatar, but he was nothing like she had been expecting. He acted really childish for his age. He spent a lot of time playing with Momo and Appa, and he was always looking for ways to have fun. And of course, there was the big cloth bundle around his waist. The Avatar, humanity's greatest hope wasn't even potty trained.

Aang laid back in his seat as appas pilot, seemingly relaxed after their latest brush with the psychotic fire nation prince.
"Hey, we got away didn't we?" he asked. "besides, wasn't that so cool when I blasted him back over his boat and right into the river!" he conveyed excitedly, with arm motions and everything. The sound effects he made interupted only by the light growl of his gut.

Sokka sat straight up in his seat. "That was amazing! Aang was like, 'pow!' and Zuko was like, 'Ow, my face!'" Sokka made explosion noises as he pantomimed the action.
Katara rolled her eyes. "Cool? Aang, we almost died! I don't care about looking cool, I care about us getting to the Northern Water Tribe in one piece. But I guess we did make it this far..." She was too distracted by the conversation no notice the growling. "So, Aang..." she wasn't sure how to bring this up. "This is our first moment to catch our breath in a while... do you need... you know..." Regardless of his answer, she planned to check anyway. Not that she didn't trust him, she just wasn't convinced that he always knew when to tell her he needed a change.

"Need to what Katara?" Aang asked innocently. He was still caught up in describing the events of thei escape to properly notice her concern.
Just at that moment, the growl returned. On instinct aang leaned forward and started grunting.

The growl may have been subtle, but Aang's actions weren't. Katara sighed. "Never mind, I'll just check," she said. She gently slid her fingers in the back of Aang's padding and pulled on the waistband so she could see what was going on inside, anything he'd already done and anything he was about to do.
Sokka was only half paying attention. "Yo, Aang!" he called out. "You feeling alright?"

"yeah, I'm fine sokka, just gotta - ugh!" Aang was cut of as he forcefully pushed his afternoon load into the back of his nappy, acting as if it was completely normal.

"Just gotta what, Aang?" Sokka asked. He wasn't looking, so he had no idea what was going on. But he didn't really care enough to turn and look.
Katara watched the load drop into his nappy, feeling the sudden weight tug on the fabric as it landed. She had a lot of trouble believing that Aang was about the same age as her, but still did his business in nappies.
Did he even know he was pooping? Katara decided to hold back a bit and see how Aang responded to Sokka. "Feeling better now, Aang?" she asked.

"Yeah, much better" he shrugged.
"What's the matter Katara, you've got that super serious look on your face again!"
(Calling a night here. Are you free tomorrow?)

(Okay, good night.)
"Oh I do, huh?" Katara was not amused, and Aang's accusation put her on the defensive. "I'm not being super serious, I'm just trying to figure out what's going on." Her eyes kept moving to Aang's nappy, wondering whether he knew what was inside it now, and praying he wouldn't sit down on it.
"Just gotta what, Aang?" Sokka repeated, since Aang hadn't answered him the first time. "I swear, sometimes it's like the two of you are part of your own secret club, with no Sokka's allowed."

"I didn't mean it like that Katara!" Aang walked back his comments, keen to not anger one of his only friends.
He then moved back, sitting down on his butt as if it was the most normal thing in the world. He never understood what wound Katara so tight. Why couldn't she just relax like him and Sokka? He had felt a little out of place ever since waking up from the iceberg, but he was glad to have these people as friends.
"Oh, nothing Sokka, I just had to go" he replied.
