Undertale: The Regression Spell

[Strawberry Surprise]

Frisk saw that Azzy pointed to the blocks. She put the boxed train set away and sat down with the container of blocks, opening it up and tipping them all out in a multicoloured pile. She patted the floor, signalling to Chara to put Asriel down so he could play.

"Put Azzy down so he can play with us" she told Chara. "What should we make?" she looked at the book that came with it. "Hey this book shows you how to make stuff. I'm going to make a ferris wheel!" she said excitedly. It was more complicated but it looked so cool and colourful. "Why don't you make the carousel that goes with it?" she asked Chara.

Toriel and Asgore left the room. Asgore went back to gardening and Toriel went to start cooking a family meal, excited to try human food. None of the monsters had had it before and she knew that human food didn't get all used up by the body like monster food did, so she was a little nervous about having to use the toilet. She hoped she wouldn't have any accidents.

But monster food was hard to get these days, since so many humans wanted to try it. Human food was cheaper and more readily available. Plus it tasted a lot better. Toriel began to cook, singing to the radio as she did so.

Frisk looked at Asriel's bottle of baby formula "What does that taste like, Azzy? Is it good?" she asked, curious. Eventually, Frisk would find out first hand what a bottle tasted like...but the spell hadn't taken full effect on her yet.

Chara smiled at Frisk's excitement but was a little concerned as she checked her sister for any signs of the spell before stating to make the carousel and Asriel just sucked his bottle as he put the blocks in random shapes

"You're not very talkative today, huh sissy?" Frisk asked Chara and gently poked her arm, wondering why she wasn't saying much. "Did you learn how to put on diapers from playing with baby dolls? I like dolls" she said, trying to make conversation.

Frisk didn't notice Chara checking her over. She concentrated on building the Ferris wheel just right, looking at the book for guidance every few seconds. "These blocks are harder to play with than Lego. I guess because they're made for babies and they are so much bigger. Lego Duplo is okay, I guess" she said, clipping the chunky blocks together into a big colourful wheel, then smiling at it proudly. "Yay! I did it. It looks great" she said, pushing it so that it would turn around.

"Look Azzy, I made a Ferris wheel! You've never been on one but they are really fun. They go up reallllly high and you can see the whole fun park below" she said, raising her hands in the air to show how high up it went. She giggled and looked at Chara, spinning the wheel some more "What do you prefer; the Ferris wheel or the carousel? I think the Ferris wheel's good for a thrill but the carousel is kind of magical and I love the pretty ponies and other animals" she said, happily talking about the fun fair and theme parks.

Frisk had managed to sneak into carnivals/fairs a few times when she was younger and some kind people had paid for her tickets to go on the rides. She treasured the memories of fun times she had. "I've never been on a roller coaster. But they look fun and scary at the same time. I wish all of us could go to a theme park: you, me, Asriel and Mom and Dad" she said.

Frisk didn't used to talk much but ever since getting her new family, it made her so happy she wanted to chat to them all the time.

She then noticed Asriel randomly placing blocks around the floor. "Uhh, Azzy....what are you making?" she asked, blinking at the randomness. "Do you want me to help you build a house?"

Frisk shuffled over to Asriel and sat next to him. "Here, put this block on top of this one. Can you do it?" she pointed, tapping the block, wondering how much he could understand.

She looked at Chara "How old do you think Asriel is right now?" she asked, worried.

Some tasty aromas began to drift from the kitchen.

"Sorry Frisk just got a little preoccupied in my head" Chara chuckled as she finished up the carousel.

"Honestly I don't prefer either I like something more fast and energetic" Chara said as Asriel kept randomly stacking the blocks unaware Frisk was trying to help him build a house

"Honestly I thinks he's maybe in the 12 months or less" Chara said before sniffing the delicious smell of the food

"Wow, you'd probably love the super scary thrill rides and roller coasters" she giggled, impressed at Chara's bravery "You're so brave. But are we tall enough to ride?" Frisk was a small and short ten year old.

Frisk looked at Chara with her light blue eyes, tilting her head slightly, "Oh. Okay. That happens to me sometimes..." she quieted a bit.

She looked at Asriel and noticed that he wasn't paying attention to what she said. "Azzy? Can you understand me?" she asked softly, cupping his cheeks and looking into his eyes, "Nod to say yes. Shake to say no" she instructed.

Once she got his answer, Frisk began to make a butterfly out of blocks, thinking she could play with Asriel more easily with it. She could make it 'kiss' him or 'tickle' him, or have him try to catch it as she flew it around.

She frowned, turning serious "I'm trying to stay positive for our family but....I'm scared, Chara. What if Asriel stays like this forever? And who else got hit with the regression spell? I hope none of our friends did..." She didn't want Chara to turn into a baby like Asriel. She would miss having someone to play with and talk to that was the same age as her. Not to mention, Chara was her only friend at school right now.

Frisk got quiet around other people she didn't know well. "Twelve months..." she trailed off, frowning "That's so little"

Toriel was making a chicken pot pie, some roast potatoes, pumpkin and carrots, minted peas and green beans and some cheesy breadsticks. She was having a great time cooking with the human food, stopping to taste test her cooking now and then. She turned the roasting veggies in the oven and checked on the pie's crust, which was slowly turning golden.

Toriel stirred the peas and beans, then went back to kneading dough and making it into twisted shapes that would become the breadsticks.

She brought some iced tea and oatmeal cookies out to Asgore while he took a break from gardening. "The garden is looking great, Dear. It's going to be so nice being out here during spring and summer" she said, admiring his handiwork "Oh, I see you put in a vegetable patch, and some fruit trees"

Asgore took the tea and gulped down a few refreshing sips. He kissed his wife's cheek, wiping sweat from his brow "Thank you Tori. I'm glad you approve. I want this to be a nice place for the family to come out here and enjoy" he looked at the veggie patch and small fruit trees "Oh, yes! I thought it would be fun and good for the kids to learn about gardening. We can cook together with what we grow. The fruit trees are miniature ones so they won't take up much room"

He then looked at her with some concern "How is Asriel doing? Has there been any change?"

Toriel shook her head "No...he's still acting like a baby. I think he's mentally about a year old" she said sadly.

"Hey I understand your a.little scared I am too this whole thing came down at a moment's notice so things are hard but I'm gonna make sure we got threw it no matter what I'll make sure we have each other so trust me Frisk I'll keep you safe" Chara said.hugging her sister to co.fort her

"I just don't want Asriel to forget who he is, and forget us" she said. "I miss talking to him already"

Frisk looked at her sister, "Yeah..." she smiled slightly at her comforting words and hugged her back tightly "Thanks Chara. I'll do the same for you. You can count on me. If you go baby, I'll be there for you. I'll help find the cure for Azzy too"

She then sat back after a minute and looked at Asriel "So....what are we going to do with him? He can barely understand us"

She picked up the butterfly she had made "Asriel...look! It's a butterfly! Can you say 'butterfly'?"

She smelled the delicious aromas from the kitchen and her mouth watered, "We have to keep him busy for an hour till lunch is ready. You excited to have human food again?" she asked Chara.

Toriel sat down at the garden table with Asgore and talked with him for a while. "Chara and Frisk are taking this very well. I'm proud of them. I'm not sure if it's safe to send them to school on Monday though. The spell seems to hit people at different rates. I bought baby items and furniture for both of them in case we need it" she said

Asgore placed a hand on her hand, looking into her eyes with a kind, reassuring smile. "It will be okay, Toriel. I'll help you care for the little ones if they get regressed too. Lots of people are going through this, not just our family. So we're not alone. I'm sure we can find support from our monster friends" he said. "We might need a babysitter occasionally, or to take Asriel for playdates. It's okay. We raised a baby once, we can do it again. You're a wonderful mother and I am going to try to be the best father I can be" he promised

"I'm not bothered by changing diapers or waking up in the middle of the night. We'll do this together" he smiled, leaning forward to hug her.

Toriel hugged him back, closing her eyes and snuggling into him "Thank you, Honey. You're the best" she said. "Perhaps I should go check on the children to see what they're up to"

"Thanks Frisk" Chara said before Asriel started crying

"Azzy what's wrong" Chara asked trying to comfort him when she notched his diaper

"Aww Azzy you had an accident after drinking that milkies didn't you well don't worry I'm gonna make it all better," she said as she began to help change her whining baby minded brother

Frisk was about to reply when Asriel burst into noisy tears, crying like a baby. She covered her ears and winced, not used to the sounds. She watched while Chara checked him over, wondering what was wrong. Frisk didn't know much about babies.

It seemed kind of odd seeing Asriel cry like that when he looked physically older. She looked at his diaper when Chara mentioned it, noticing some of the flowers on it had faded where the pee seeped around them. "Oh. He wet it" she said, surpised, "That milk went through fast"

She looked at her sister as she got Asriel laid back down on his changing mat. Frisk got up and went to the changing table, grabbing a new diaper and some changing supplies, giving them to Chara. "Here, Chara. You'll need these" she smiled, sitting down beside the mat with her legs tucked under her.

"I hope you don't mind if I watch you change him. You're good with babies. I want to learn how so I can help mom and dad take care of Azzy" she said.

Frisk picked up the butterfly she made out of blocks and moved it around in the air like it was flying "Look, Azzy! A butterfly. Look at the pretty butterfly. Mwah! Mwah!" she lightly tapped the butterfly on his cheek and forehead, pretending it was kissing him.

Asriel looked up at the butterfly and giggled as he reached for it and Chara got started on the change as she untapped the diaper and tossed it in the trashcan being sure to wipe and powder making sure to check for a rash as she then depends fresh one up and have Asriel three light pats as he was now in a fresh new diaper
