An Unlikely Meeting (Private with Princess Goomba)

Lucas looked on in horror as the world burned around him. The Dark Dragon had been awoken, and as a result nearly all life as he knew it was coming to an end. Lucas himself, miraculously, had still survived up to this point, although he did not know how long that would still be the case, or even if it'd still be worth it after everything that had happened.

Eventually the destruction had ceased, leaving only soot, ash, and a single, lone boy, scared out of his mind. All Lucas could do was sit still and stare at what remained, contemplating everything lost and the utter calamity that had just occurred. Unbeknownst to him, an unlikely rescuer was on her way.

Samus Aran, bounty hunter, hero, and many other titles, was currently on her ship, she was traveling though the area, checking out something for the Federation, they'd picked up on some unusual activity in this sector of space, they weren't exactly sure what it was, but their scanners had picked up on a frequency of some kind, a powerful one too, it was hard to miss, and Samus had been sent to check it out, to see if it was someone doing something they shouldn't, and to get there before anyone else did to try and take advantage of the situation.

As her ship reached the planet, she did some scans from orbit that showed her things weren't good. The planet was actively dying, cause unknown, but the images she was getting showed all the plant life, all the animal life, it was all just dying without any sort of cause. This was certainly troubling, her first thoughts were that someone had used a new weapon of sorts to cause this to happen, she'd though that it may have been the inhabitants of the planet, but cursory scans showed there was barely any civilized life on the rock, with two areas that pinged as possible cities.

Normally she would have left it at that, filed her report for what she thought, and left it at that, but then her scans picked up something peculiar. It was an interesting energy reading, one she didn't recognize, but it also seemed to be tied to a life form. Getting imaging of the life form wasn't hard, it looked like, a kid?

Samus hadn't been intending to land, but the image was all she needed. Her ship coming in as fast as it possibly could, heading to a nearby area, after all she couldn't just land on top of this kid, but as the only survivor he might know what happened here, if he was the cause of all of this. Well, she'd just see about it when she spoke to him, he certainly didn't look like a threat.

Her ship landed and she emerged from the top of it, decked out in her suit, after all she couldn't be sure she'd be unaffected by what was happening with the planet, jumping down, she surveyed the area, heading towards where she knew the child would be.

Lucas wasn't sure if he could believe his sight when he first saw the gigantic ship from outer space land not too far from him among the ruined soil and plant life. It seemed like some type of hallucination, conjured up to provide his mind some sort of reprieve from the unending tragedy that had occurred around him. However, no matter how many times he closed his eyes or looked away, it would always still be there when he looked back. Was it possible that what he was seeing was actually real?

Lucas could just barely make out a figure exiting the ship in the distance. Whoever, or whatever, it was had donned some kind of futuristic-looking armor that was so bulky Lucas could only guess at how big the person inside of it was. He cautiously and nervously watched as the figure began to head towards his direction, not sure if they were here to help or finish off what remaining life was left on the planet.

Samus spotted the boy, there he was, real as what she'd seen. Continuing to approach him, it seemed like he wasn't trying to run away, or do anything, he looked rather shocked. Samus couldn't begin to guess how old he was, the boy looked rather small after all. Given his attire, Samus was willing to bet he wasn't too young. Getting close enough, her voice sprang out, although through the helmet she wore, it sounded more robotic, although Samus spoke with a rather neutral tone anyway as to not convey much emotion.

"Child. What has happened?" A straightforward question, Samus needed answers after all, and if the child was truthful, she'd at least know what she'd have to do about him. If it turned out he was the one who had destroyed this place.. Well she was debating if she should just take him out, or simply leave him to the mess he was stuck in, no doubt no one would be living all that long on this planet.

For a brief moment after the robot/alien/soldier (Lucas still wasn't sure which) had asked the question he had remained silent, still in shock. However, the tone and phrasing that the being in front of him used indicated that it had very little patience for any stalling, and so Lucas tried to answer as honestly as he could.

"I-It had been woken up. The Dragon. It destroyed everything, not a single soul managed to escape alive. W-Well, except for me, I guess..." He said nothing more after that. What else could he have said? In one single day the entire world had come to an end, and there was nothing he could do to stop it. He looked up to the suit of armor, hoping that his explanation was satisfactory.

Samus didn't really know what to think of that statement, it sounded more like some sort of fable as opposed to the actual truth, although it did explain the large dragon looking corpse she'd seen on her images. Said dragon seemed to have died along with the rest of the world, but perhaps it was because it died that everything was dying with it. Regardless she didn't see anything too wrong with the boys explanation, and her heart wasn't made of stone.

"Come with me. Unless you want to be stranded here." Samus told him, she looked a bit less tense, which wasn't much given her suit made such body language hard to notice, she then began to walk back to her ship, going a bit slowly, giving the boy time to follow her, of course if he didn't follow her, she wasn't going to leave without him, if he was too scared to follow she'd probably just come back and grab him, but she preferred to see if he would come of his own volition first.

Lucas briefly pondered his options after hearing the person/thing's offer. He didn't know if going with it was safe, for one. He found them to be quite intimidating, and who knows what their goals or motivations were for coming here and picking him up. Second, well, this planet was his home. Even if it was dead now, he wasn't sure if he wanted to say goodbye to it forever.

However, he soon came to the conclusion that following the alien was the only choice he really had. Lucas had been given an extremely rare second chance at life when by all means he should've died here, and he wasn't going to let that opportunity pass him up. Giving the suit of armor (and the person in it, if there was one) a nervous nod, he stood up and began following it, hoping that he had made the correct decision in doing so.

Samus didn't need to turn and see him to know he was following, her suit kept track of him nearby, and she observed him following. Once she was sure he was following her, she picked up the pace, she still wasn't certain of the exact reason everything here was dying, but she wouldn't stick around to find out if it could effect her or the child if they lingered. Once back at her ship, she allowed the child to catch up. From there she grabbed him off of the ground and jumped up on top of her ship, where a round panel slowly descended into it, while another panel slide in place over the top.

The two of them went down into the center of Samus' ship, where she put the boy down and took off her helmet. Long yellow hair spilled down out of it from where it was wrapped up inside the helmet, done up in a ponytail. Her face was finally visible as she looked down at the boy. "I'm not sure where you'll end up, but at least you won't die alone." Samus told the boy, her voice sounding more feminine without her helmet modulating it, but it still had a rather neutral tone. From there Samus stripped out of her armor, it peeled away and was set into a panel on the wall, along with her helmet. The woman was now in her bright blue single suit, a form fitting suit that showed off every curve.

Samus made her way to the front of the ship to begin piloting it off of the planet before anything unexpected happened.

Lucas was amazed when he saw the woman take off her suit of armor, quickly realizing what gender she was. "You're... you're a..." Ultimately, he elects not to comment on her gender, thinking that it probably wouldn't be the right thing to say at the moment. Instead, he elected to get a look of his surroundings, that being the interior of the woman's ship.

The best word Lucas could think of to describe the look of the ship was "futuristic". There was a control board that had many buttons and screens that he could only guess at the purposes of, and just the general architecture of the whole thing looked like something out of a space movie he'd watch back when, well, there were actually people to watch it with. That thought brought him back to the utter calamity that he had witnessed not long ago, and the same sense of dread fell over him as it did before the woman showed up.

"Not a robot?" Samus commented idly, it was a pretty normal response she got from plenty of people when she revealed she was more than just a suit. Not that she minded it too much, if people wanted to think she was some kind of robot then let them, it usually just made things far less annoying for her in the long run anyway. Once she'd set the ship to launch she didn't need to directly oversee it to travel, they were heading to the nearest Federation planet, where Samus would explain how her mission went, as well as see if she could do anything for this child she'd picked up.

After she came back over to him, she crouched down, putting a hand on his head, gently stroking his head. There wasn't anything she could say to him, based off of what she knew, his entire world had just come to an end thanks to some sort of giant creature wiping everything out, although from what she observed of the planet, there hadn't been a whole lot of civilization on most of it. It was odd to be sure, it looked more like there was one major settlement, and one minor one, with the major one having far more advanced technology. She would have assumed this was a colony planet that had started sometime in the last fifty years or so, but there was no references to it at all in the data she had.

A secret perhaps? Given some giant beast came out and destroyed the whole thing, her thoughts were drifting to a bio-weapon of some kind, and the colonies were either there specifically to watch over it, or act as a cover to make sure no one found out about it. It seems she'd never get her answers though, not with her only witness being a young child. She'd leave the more.. Theoretical points of her mission to the few who would need to hear it.

"What's your name kid?" Samus asked him, after all, she needed to call him something other than kid.
