hey a idea that probly isnt to hard is to sort the member who are online by abc order

You have a good eye for details, Wolfie! I never noticed that the "Currently Active Users:" section down below in the Forum page is not currently sorted by username in ascending order (Alphabetically), unlike the the list of members who are online on the top left side of the Home page and the list in the "Users active in the past 24 hours:" section that is all the way at the bottom of the Forum page. The list of usernames in the "Currently Active Users:" section is currently sorted by member logon date-time (Or by Last Activity date-time if no one has logged on other than those members that are already on) in descending order so that the username of any member who most recently logs on will be placed in the front (Left) of the list (You can test this out by first logging out and then logging back in again. After you have logged back in again, immediately go down below in the Forum page and you should see your username placed in the front (Left) of that list as long as no one else has logged in after you did. Yes, it should be an easy thing to change the sort order of that list (It would probably involve editing the SQL SELECT statement responsible so that the result set is sorted by username in ASC order before being parsed by some code into the comma delimited list that we all see) but the way things are is just how this site was designed. Whoever designed it (Ai or Stoner?) probably thought that it would be redundant to have the "Currently Active Users:" list sorted in the same way as the other two lists that I had already mentioned.


With all of the technical problems with this site that already need fixing (Like fixing the display of the "Latest Gallery Comments" section on the right side of the Home page, the reformatting of any uploaded story text into a single block of text whenever the Internet Explorer browser is used and a few other problems), I don't think that redesigning the sort order of the "Currently Active Users:" section (A design choice) would be high on Stoner's "To do" list if such a redesign was even to be considered. A more urgently needed redesign would involve redesigning the placement of the "Notice: Just to note, the box above is NOT a ..." text or [Override] the click() method behind the "Shout" button (So that a confirmation window displays the Notice text and asks the user to decide [By clicking on either a Yes or a No button] whether they want to continue to post the text that he/she already typed in the Shoutbox's textbox - I don't know if that's even possible with the old version of the Cbox Shoutbox that this site is using) associated with the Shoutbox so that new peeps don't mistake the Shoutbox for a Search Bar!

I have OCD (See -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obsess...lsive_disorder), so seeing the "Currently Active Users:" list not in alphabetical order bothers me a little bit but I'm not too stressed about it, if at all, since the "Users active in the past 24 hours:" list directly below it on the same [Forum] page is already sorted in alphabetical order. If you re-examine both of those lists, you will see that the username of the member who most recently logged on is also simultaneously included in the larger "Users active in the past 24 hours:" list.

As long as something on the page serves a meaningful purpose, I am okay with it for the very most part. Knowing who just logged in can be very useful to those members here who RP online. It lets the RP'er know, by periodically checking the left side of "Currently Active Users:" list, that their RP partner has recently arrived, thus it makes sense that the list is sorted by member login time (I don't RP online which is why I never noticed or paid serious attention to that list before. I can see when my friends have arrived though, so that I start/continue a VM conversation and have a more frequent ("Back and forth") interaction with them rather than just leave each one concerned a VM message, log out and wait until the next day or after the weekend to read their response and then add my reply VM). You are correct in believing that the "Site Feedback & Suggestions" section is a "giant suggestion box" and did no harm by leaving your suggestion. In fact by bringing it up, you helped to "Clear the air" about this non-issue for anyone else who might wonder about it in the future!

we are in the process of migrating to new software at some point but its proven to be a very large task as we have 4 sites along with keeping the current software running, our coder also has offline obligations as well which means that things are slow going despite their best effort to get things done.
