No, no, it’s alright. Thank you for asking.
-
Sorry, I wasn't sure where you wanted to go with it.
-
Probably not. She likes to keep Mrs Bertinelli the teacher and Helena the Huntress very separate.
-
Would any of her students know she's Huntress?
-
Helena Bertinelli’s white chalk tapped on the blackboard of her classroom.
“Good morning, class.”
A chorus of greetings came from the students. Helena smiled, she loved her class. She ran through the name call, stopping on one that had been absent yesterday too.
“Has anyone heard from Charlie? Charlie Stone?”
Murmurs. She could ask Maddie later.
“Okay, today’s lesson is all about Pythagoras…”
The school day continued on, and Helena couldn’t help but notice the absent student. Charlie wasn’t a troublemaker, he came to class on the dot. If he was missing…
“Maddie, can I ask you something. Just a moment.”
Maddie, her brown hair tied in a twin braid, slowly walked up to her teacher.
“Yes, Mrs Bertinelli?”
“You’re friends with Charlie. Do you have any idea where he is? I don’t need everything, just… I care about my students.”
Maddie rambled. She knew that Charlie’s family was having some problems, and he was listening to him mutter something about owing a favour to people she didn’t know. Helena felt her blood go cold.
“I-I don’t know, but I’m worried about him.”
“Hey, it’s okay. Maddie, someone will find him. He’ll be fine and you’ll see him tomorrow, I promise.”
Maddie was fond of promises. It was an easy way to her heart. She raced away, giving Helena a moment to herself. Okay. One of her students might be in trouble involving criminals. She couldn’t go out on a bloody rampage, she had her job and she couldn’t risk wasting time.
If she wanted results, she’d need to contact some help.
Opening her laptop, Helena sent an email to an old friend.
Charlie Stone is in some trouble. Drug related. I need names and locations. Send me what you know.
If you want some idea of the Hel as a teacher moment.
-
You don’t think it’s too bloated?
-
That all sounds like a plan to me.
-
Furthermore. Another idea. You know how Helena is going to save Baby-Bat when she’s kidnapped and then have a heart to heart at her house? What if, before that, Barbara sends her some information about a missing student, and then when we switch over to night time and Babs gets saved, Helena says
“That information was solid.”
Maybe the day after Barbara helps Dinah clear Ollie’s name and babysits Conner, we start with Helena’s day job as a teacher? Then she messages Barbara for help and we transition to night time for the baby doll bit?
-
That could work. . . . . .
-
I know, right?
I think it’d be fun if Mary is perfectly cordial during the show. If we want to set up the brief kidnapping, maybe someone can ask her how she feels about the changes in Gotham since she was in Arkham?
