Oh. I have long term depression as well, so I can understand (There are good days where I can function pretty much okay [The key is to laugh a lot, even at yourself] and then there a really bad days where I feel like everything in my life is hopeless and that life is not worth living anymore). Do you want to talk about it?
Whatever you do, you have to get your sleep or things will only get worse for your health. Try all of the recommended non-medication based remedies (See ->
here) before resorting to nasty prescription drugs like Lunesta (Side effects ->
here) or Ambien (Side effects ->
here). My doctor gave me Lunesta but it only made me fall asleep for four hours at night. I would wake up in the middle of the night and then couldn't fall asleep for the rest of the night (Do you know how vile the chirping of birds sound in the morning when you've only had partial sleep or not had any sleep at all the night before?). He wanted to put me on Ambien next but I declined when I saw the horrible side effects. Some people have even reported having hallucinations and amnesia as a side effect of taking Ambien (See ->
here). After reading about all of the horrible side effects and stories, I decided to focus my mind into relaxing and not thinking about anything else (I "zoned out" of any and all problems in my life). Eventually, I was able to regain my proper circadian rhythm (See ->
here) and sleep regularly (It took weeks for it to happen).
As a less extreme measure, you can first try an OTC (Over The Counter), non-prescription supplement like melatonin (See ->
here). If all of that doesn't work for you then you'll have to see a doctor about your sleep problem.
