Suko closed his eyes, the storm was slowly disrupting the trajectory of his flight, changing his direction toward Omashu. Soon he rode out the storm and flew straight past the border without warning.

He had need for supplies, and Omashu was the only place around.
So, broken glider in hand, he straightened his stance and walked the few hundred yards to the city gate - and the patrolwoman that guarded it. "Excuse me, patrolwoman? My name is Yang, I am a wanderer, and I would like to get into the city."

"!" Jia looked up in surprise as a man approached her, asking for entry into the city. A simple glance-over suggested he was indeed a vagrant as he claimed, but something about him...his hood made it hard for her to tell, but the man looked a little like an Air Nomad, which wouldn't necessarily clash with his claim to be a wanderer...
Jia quashed her musings silently, standing up straight as she looked Yang in the eyes. Yang's origins weren't of any great importance, but she would need to make sure he entered the city properly.
"I see..." She said calmly. "May I ask what your plans in Omashu are, sir?"

Miyu giggles as she lets Yama use her as a crutch. Miyu knew he was as powerfull as a dragon, but his appereance and first impression might steer a stranger otherwise. He seemed like a steryotipical old man, lazy, tired all the time, and slow. Miyu smiled at Yama, "So Yama, any plans for today? Or are you just going to find another cozy chair to sleep in?" Miyu teased playfulley, feeling a bit concerned to how long Yama had been sleeping today, or where he has been sleeping. She knew he would be alright in any instance, but Miyu always felt like she cared almost in a motherly sense about him, feeling as if he were too old to do simple household tasks.
Miyu had been wanting to tell Yama somthing for a long time, he would be the only person she'd tell, but it would be hard to tell to even Yama. Miyu had been secretly planning on travleing by sea to the Earth Kingdom, to Ba Sing Se, and possibly lend a hand to their war efforts, in any way she could. But of course, Miyu would be worried about Yama, not only was she, in a sense, caring for him, but he was her only friend, her only connection to keeping her sanity, how could she leave him?

Yama grins and rolls his eyes. "You'll be old one of these
days...'little girl'." He chuckles slighty before letting his hand
drop from her shoulder. "My only regret is that I won't be around to
make fun of you when you get there." Yama takes a look around the
small living area and strokes his beard. "I had been having lunch
with your family before I dozed off, I wonder where they went..." As
his eyes return to Miyu's he can immediately tell something is
bothering her, he had gotten rather good at reading people. "Is
something wrong child? You seem troubled."

Yang heaved a noticeable sigh. "Of course they want to know what I'm doing. Always have to keep tabs, I suppose. God, I hate these people." He looked straight into her eyes, so as not to arouse false suspicion, and blandly stated "I've come to stay for a visit, see the city, and perhaps find cloth for my broken glider." As he said it he pulled the stick from his side and kicked it open, its wings flying out and locking rigidly in place.
There was, indeed, a large tear on the left-hand side of the gliding cloth, rendering the object rather useless. Almost as quickly as he opened it did he snap it back shut and return it to its place by his side. With another quiet sigh he asked "May I go into the city now, ma'am?"

Jia nodded slowly. "Ah, I see." She turned to the city's thick walls, and with a simple gesture, opened a wide door for the vagrant to pass through. She turned to Yang, replacing the severe guard's face with a genuine smile.
"Please enjoy your stay in Omashu, sir. I apologize for asking about your business, but you know how it is these days..." She said humbly, scratching her head.
The airbender's annoyance had been quite visible to Jia, and she sympathized. It was sometimes disheartening that her new job required her to be suspicious of outsiders, and she imagined a man simply wanting to repair his mode of transport did not appreciate being treated like a criminal suspect. Jia wished there was a way to make it up to him.

Yang was pleasantly surprised as the woman opened the entrance. As the large, earthen gate rumbled across the barren soil he watched her cautiously, perplexed. He was fully expecting another round of interrogative questions, and so he was taken aback by the near instantaneous access to the city, and even more by her friendly smile. In all of his wandering, that was the first time he had ever seen an on-duty earth warrior smile.
With a slight pause he said "Thank you, ma'am," and walked onward into the city. Halfway through the gate he looked back over his shoulder at the oddity of the woman, wondering why all earth soldiers weren't more like her. But the gate began its slow march shut, so he sauntered off into the confines of Omashu.

Jia noted the look of surprise mixed with gratitude as she let Yang into Omashu, and felt a little saddened by knowing its cause. Knowing Omashu security, the airbender had likely been expecting a full interrogation and several forms to sign before Jia would consider letting him inside. She often feared that beareucracy and mistrust were undermining the altruism of her chosen profession. She was here to protect people, not make life harder for everyone outside the walls. Still, she offered Yang a little wave as he walked in.
"Please enjoy your stay in Omashu, sir, and good luck in your future travels." She said, wanting to end the encounter postively.

Miyu looked up to Yama with a concerned expression on her face, taking in a deep breathe, and exhaling slowley. She began to pace back and forth slowley infront of Yama, trying to think of how she would tell him her plans. "Yama--" Miyu said, but then hushed herself, feeling what she was about to say wouldn't exactly be right. "I--" she cut herself off again. fearing Yama's reaction. "Yama I want to move to Ba Sing Se!" She blurted out rapidly, sighing breifly as the words escaped her mouth, now fearing what Yama had to say, as if he would punish her for such a 'disgracefull thing to say', as Miyu would call it, full-well knowing it brings shame to a water bender and their family when they want to move.
