Body Trap (Private for Strawberry & PaddedPrincelingJoey)

Body Trap

Story: One day two brothers found an enchanted book while their parents were away on an important trip. The older of the two had found it after a successful monster hunting expedition where he raided the defeated dragon’s lair. He proudly brought the book home, eager to show his friends the prize. Although their father and mother had told them never to touch such magical items without letting their parents examine them first, the brothers just couldn’t resist. The youngest brother discovered the book in its hiding place and without knowing what it was; he started to read it that rainy day. The older brother came along and told him not to touch that, but then they ended up reading it together. Older brother agreed to read it aloud because younger could not yet read. But what they didn’t know was that some of the spells activated if you spoke them aloud. Now, they find themselves in a bizarre situation…the one known to some as a body swap…but to these two brothers, it feels more like a trap. How are they going to get back to normal before someone finds out?

Setting: The world of Litaire, where modern day technology and developments coexist alongside fantasy elements such as monsters and magic. The main story takes place in a sub-urban neighbourhood in a small city with several schools, convenience stores, a supermarket, a hospital, doctors, a local park and most shops you can find in a city of its size (clothing, fast-food, pet stores, etc).

The boys’ house is a two storey, medium sized home on a little bit of land large enough for a few animals and a garden. Downstairs is a large living room with polished floor boards, a study room with a computer, a connected kitchen-dining area and a bathroom. Upstairs is a hallway with the parents’ room that has its own bathroom, a bedroom each and another bathroom plus one extra room which is mostly used as a rumpus room.

Profiles

Name: Kai Arkell

Age: 19

Appearance: Kai now looks like a three old boy with shoulder length, messy red hair which falls across bright greenish-blue eyes and a cowlick that sticks up just about the middle of his fringe. A few freckles sprinkle his light suntanned skin. His wardrobe consists mostly of t-shirts and shorts in bright colours or animal prints and a pair of shiny rubber gumboots. This is the appearance of his younger brother, however, whose body he is trapped in.

Personality: He’s normally an introverted soul, spending most of his time in his room on his computer or with his nose in one of his many dragon books. Otherwise he’s out training, doing tasks that relate to his training, or monster hunting, which is what all the training is for. When something needs to be done, he tries to do it well and if it’s not right, he’ll re-do it, making him a bit of a perfectionist. Despite being an introvert, he knows how to be polite and hold a reasonable conversation. Kai does have a kind side, which often shows most when he’s playing with or taking care of their pet cat, Biscuits or playing with his younger brother. Normally, he can be a bit strict and a little too serious, even when playing video games. But when he’s pushed too far, he certainly does have a temper, which has been known to cause foot-stamping and shouting, especially when he thinks someone is being unfair or breaking the rules.

Occupation: After finishing high school he started training to become a monster hunter at one of the academies. He has a few close friends that he doesn’t normally bring to the house.

Other: This is the older brother, though he’s currently trapped in the body of his little brother after the spell took effect. He has models of dragons and some of the treasures he’s found on high shelves in his room, above his bed. He has a dragon softie that he’s owned since he was little. He stays in his own room even though the bed is now way too big for him.

People he knows: their mother Sophie Arkell and father Thomas Arkell, Freya, a girl he met at the academy who he also went to school with, Mary, another girl he met at the academy who specialises in Asian style dragons, Tyson, another friend he went to school with, Jack, an older student of the academy, Mrs Wassell, the local convenience store owner…etc.

************************************************** ***********

Name: Yosefu Arkell
Age: Two-and a half/Three
Appearance: X: : More often nowadays, Yosefu finds himself having his brother primp his hair, so that it's got the right feel of... "Lion's mane". The garb mostly entails the constant use of darker shades of t-shirt and basic jeans that hang pretty casually about his strangely shapen hips. A standard set of sneakers for his every day life to alternate with combat boots when on the job (not that he's let this happen). Admittedly, this is his elder brother's body, after all.
Personality: Yose, be he in his brother's nineteen year old body, or his regular body, there's one consistent fact: The boy is a toddler. Energetic and moody, around the people he gets to know, he feeds off of his most simplistic urges. Cuddling and playing... It tends to be kind of hard to hide (if it weren't for his brother being such a good one). Obviously, the young man's attention span is a bit lacking, when he finds himself not being entertained as he pleases. Outside of his social circle (and those he lets in), the enormous toddler tends to find himself pretty shy, avoiding people he doesn't recognize the best he can.
Occupation: Before the switch, it was his turn to be Mrs. Naoko's special helper! Obviously since he doesn't have much else, as a toddler, he has yet to even attend primary school.
Other: The baby brother in a big brother's body, he tends to collect popular stuffed animals that his mother and father bring back for him. In the end, he can't sleep without many of them in the same room as him. Considering his bed is meant for his body, Yosefu tends to force his way into Kai's room with several of the stuffed animals with him.
People he knows: Sophie and Thomas Arkell, his parents. Mrs Naoko, the bumble room --specifically a room designed for older toddlers-- attendant, Marcey and May, a pair of identical twins who happen to sit at his colouring table during day care, etc...

Kai could still feel the tingling throughout his whole body. Like he was immersed in a giant pool of lemonade infused with an electrical current, with bubbles fizzing all over his skin and his hair standing on end. Faintly, he registered the hiss of rain from the summer storm that railed outside. They had been reading the book...the herbal, smoky scent of its ancient pages mingled with the damp scent of ozone in the air.

Slowly, he dared to open his eyes, blinking groggily as the sensations faded. His vision starred and he had to wait for the bursts of shapes and the faint ache behind his eyes to fade before the room came back into focus. Kai coughed, absentmindedly reaching to push hair out of his face as he swayed suddenly, disoriented. "Wha..." he paused, gave a small shake of his head. His voice...it was way too high pitched. Kai put it down to being shocked and tried again, feeling as though he had blocked ears and was hearing himself speak from a distance "What happened? I feel...I feel weird" Weird was the understatement of the year. The whole room looked different. Everything seemed...what was it...they were bigger somehow, he decided, chewing his lower lip with a frown. "What...ahh, what the heck is wrong with my voice? Yose, where are you?" Falling onto one hand in another bout of dizziness, his eyes scanned the area for the familiar burst of red hair. His little brother had been sitting right next to him, right next to the open book. A flash of lightning illuminated the room and he caught sight of a larger figure, one that had to be an illusion or some sort of distorted reflection. "Yose?" The small voice again, and a sickened feeling of dawning realization. Kai let out a strangled squeak, staring in disbelief at what could only be a clone of himself. "No way...that can't be"

Taking a breath to steady himself, the nineteen year old looked down at his shrunken body, the shiny rubber gumboots, the rainbow tee, brain finally connecting the dots."NO...A swapping spell?!"

It was hard for Yosef to really know what it was that he was feeling... It was tingly, and the whole of his body was extremely odd. A statement couldn't even be comprehended by the little brother, to even muster a description. The rain was falling. His brother had been reading the book, and the air tasted kind of funny.

There was something on his face that he didn't know terribly well, a sensation of a weight upon his nose. He knew it from somewhere... That sensation the boy knew, when he'd snatch his big brother's glasses while they were playing from time to time. His own eyes opened, and the dark hair that fell over his eyes wasn't his red that he knew all too well. He worked to push the hair from his face, fussing his brow, when he realized in his hands was the book his brother had been reading before. "K-kai?" the boy whispered in disbelief, his treble voice now a baritone. He cringed some, as he felt warmth pooling about him.
Yosef was shocked to feel the warm feeling spread across the floor, and even more so... a lot of his clothing was becoming dampened. "Kai?" he asked once more, while he looks down upon the shrunken form of the toddler that he recognized as his own...

"What happened?" the boy scrambled, realizing that in his transformation, or rather... swap, he was suddenly unnerved by the accident he'd just experienced. He missed his training pants, it would have saved a big mess in the room. "What did I...?" He rolled over and clumsily onto his feet and suddenly the world was a lot smaller. He reached up carefully, and pulled a cord, illuminating the room. There he was, there Yosef was rather. He bit his lip, biting back tears. "Can't we fix this?"

The little redhead peered up at his larger brother and slapped a hand to his forehead with a groan, too worried about the magical dilemma right now to notice the other predicament his younger brother was in. “Y-yeah, it’s me.You’ve got my body and I’ve got your body. We switched places because of a magic spell in that book we were just reading” he informed Yose in reply to the obvious confusion. It hadn’t taken him long to figure out, being more knowledgeable about phenomena in this world.

He made a face at the childish voice he was hearing whenever he spoke, finding it unnerving. Kai coughed a few times, as though trying to regain his normal voice. “Reading it aloud must have been a trigger. It should have been protected by a seal or a key word, though, or even a symbol. I don’t get why it was so easy” The tiny figure folded his arms and frowned, considering with furrowed brow as he blew at the orange mop hanging over his eyes. “Geez, your hair is annoying. How you can even see anything when it’s constantly over your eyes?”

Watching Yose’s clumsy movements, Kai blinked against the sudden illumination from the living room light. “Oh, thanks, that’s better. Now I can see…” Kai trailed off when he noticed the dark stain on the pants that he’d been wearing that day and the liquid that pooled over the floorboards. A vein in his temple instantly started to throb as he felt his temper flare. “Fix what? Fix that?” he pointed, both embarrassed and ticked off at the same time. A tinge of red on his ears gave it away, although his expression and tone of voice said enough together.

“How did you even manage to do that when I’m…when you’re in…never mind!” he shouted. Kai couldn’t fathom how that worked. He was completely toilet trained, for goodness sakes. And all he’d had was a glass of water about an hour ago, it shouldn’t have been that difficult to avoid what had happened. He noticed the tears behind the familiar rimmed glasses and huffed in exasperation.

“Don’t start crying! Stay there and don’t move while I grab the book” he ordered, walking over to the taller version of ‘him’, gumboots tapping lightly against wood with soft squeaking sounds. Kai stopped a short distance in front of the boy and stood on tip-toe, careful to avoid the puddle as he reached out his hands and fixed Yosefu with a compelling stare. It was still pouring outside, a heavy thunderclap adding emphasis to the older brother’s demand, lightning sprites dancing outside the windows.

“Give me the book. I don’t know if there’s a way to fix it instantly but there will be one and it’s probably in there. The last thing we need is for you to drop it in pee and wreck the pages” That last comment was probably unnecessary but he couldn’t hold it in. He was tense, jumpy. They had to fix this before anyone else found out what had happened and moreso, before anyone saw them!

Add to that the fact that he really couldn’t snatch the book forcefully from his little brother how he wanted to and the irritation increased that bit more.

His brother was taking care to explain everything as a toddler would understand at its best. The little gears in his head slowly turning. So, his brother had read some kind of spell... and then the two of them had switched. Then his brother went on further to complain as to what happened, and then it began to roll on to further complaints. A key or a magic word. Something to keep it shut and out of the hands of children, such as Yosef.

"Your hair's annoyin'," the big baby brother replied to his sibling, shaking his head violently. His own hair had been perfectly fine! It was Kai who insisted on a lion's mane of icky smelling hair product! And then to boot, he'd inadvertently ruined his brother's pants. Not simply was it that he'd wet them (or even sat in them), his clumsy toddler-esque habits of not rising to his like an adult. He'd all but rolled in his own pee!

With the lights active, it was now that his brother was addressing his last question. How were they to fix the fact that they'd switched, and with a reddening of his ears, Yosefu realized now just how embarrassing it was. It didn't usually end up pooling.... Their parents hadn't put in the time for potty training like that, and it certainly made things odd. Warm, wet and quickly cooling into discomfort, he wanted to do what he always did. The way his brother went into flustered detail... Tears pooled at the corner behind his glasses. "I... I didn't meant to, Kai..." the boy replied, a baritone sounded foreign as he spoke slightly more quietly. It sounded funny while his brother's voice was whimpering along.

Kai went about demanding the book from him, and in this instance... The size difference between the two of them became much more apparent now to him. The boy was loud, but now he was the elder. Mommy would be proud of him (not now... but eventually he'd get used to being a big kid), and Kai would get to be the baby. "I don't wanna, Kai," Yosefu replied with a pout, holding it up, and stepping back from his puddle. His brother had made him feel bad enough for the moment. "I need to change my clothes now, c'mon. I'm gonna close the door behind me."

Now it wasn't actually a threat he'd follow through with, but in the end, Yosef was moving down the stairs. It felt so very weird to move down them in a fashion that was anything but clumsy. It was a stubborn pace. as he hurried along. Habit brought him to his room. A seventeen year old in a toddler's bedroom would have been a sight to see for anyone. The book was dropped onto the toddler's bed, and even now, he began to fuss with annoying belt buckles. Who wears such difficult clothes? he thought to himself with a pout.

((OMG...Kai's so mean. Lol.))

“Don’t get tears on my glasses. You don’t know how to clean them properly and I don’t want them getting scratched” Kai warned, suspiciously eying the liquid that had pooled in Yosef’s eyes. It was almost like magic, how fast he could turn the waterworks on and off. Kai couldn’t cry at a whim unless he cut up an onion first.

He noted the hesitation in his demand for the book and it didn’t take him long to figure out that the cogs in his little brother’s head were turning. So, he’s realised the difference in sizes. Kai hadn’t been counting on that being used against him straight away. Yosefu was normally not manipulative. Then again, the little brat could be when he wanted something.

Luckily, Kai knew how to play this game. He ignored that his sibling was possibly dripping urine through the house due to the fact there was no way to stop him wandering off right now. Kai would make him clean it up later. For now, he raised a brow at his kid brother and lowered his outstretched hand, following him into the hall and all way upstairs. His now much smaller legs made the going slower for him but he stubbornly pushed them to go faster, having to take higher strides. It was like he was marching until he got to the top, puffing softly from the extra workout. The gumboots tapped squeakily as he made his way along the upper hallway, stopping at the door to the toddler’s room where Kai smugly leaned back against the doorframe with arms folded across his chest. With the book in his bedroom, it was the perfect time to speak.

“Oh, okay, so you want to hold onto something that has unsealed spells in it; something from which monsters and curses can come out of the pages at any time. Especially in the middle of the night while you’re sleeping…and you have no way of fighting them?” he asked with complete cool, watching his brother drop the book carelessly on the bed. It bounced and landed oddly, some of the pages crushing, a scrap or two of paper and the odd bookmark flying out.

“Well, that’s fine by me. But I just want you to know that if something does come out of that book, I won’t be able to help you since you don’t’ want to listen to me”

Ah yes, the good old fun of scare tactics. Not that it wasn’t true, either. Things could come out of that book and his brother could be in danger for all he knew…which is why Kai wanted to put it somewhere safe and out of reach. Preferably he’d place it on the high shelf in the lock box in their father’s private study. The petite redhead knelt and picked up the bookmark that had landed near his feet, making a show of inspecting it.

“You know, I think you just walked pee all through the house. Mum’s gonna be mad when she finds out what you did. And good luck getting dressed by yourself too. If you can’t get the belts undone, I guess you’ll just have to stay like that until Mum and Dad come home”

Kai didn’t care if he was being harsh now. He was angry at his brother for making a difficult situation more difficult, shoving down the panic that kept threatening to rise at the thought that someone might find them like this before he could fix it. As the big brother, he knew their parents would hold him responsible for what happened.

He was also really worried that his brother would do something reckless with his seemingly newfound freedom of being ‘a big kid’. The last thing he wanted was for Yosef to end up getting hurt or wrecking the house. “But I guess if you don’t want my help, and you don’t wanna listen, I should let you work everything out on your own. After all, you’re a big boy now. I’m sure you can handle everything all alone. With a cursed spell book” He let that be the final word, tucking the bookmark into his pocket and turning, taking a few steps as if to leave…

((EDIT 26.04.14: YAY! My friend's going to keep posting in this, so it's going to get rolling again. Thanks, Joey-chan~~! You're the best <3 Hehe))

Kai followed in Yosef's step down the hall and into his bedroom. He tracked, much to his chagrin, but Kai hadn't said a word. The book soared and fell into disarray onto toddler bed, certain that it was going to be perfectly fine. The boy in the wrong body failed at his buckles again. It seemed that it wasn't just like he had become the big boy in the family, but quite literally like someone had popped his brain out and switched it with Kai's. Yosefu's motor control appeared to suck. Quite a lot.

He'd made such a stink just a second ago how he was the big boy now, and that meant Kai would be listening to him, right? It seemed that Kai didn't quite agree with the context of "I'm bigger means I'm in charge." He was about to lose it in his usual "I'm the baby" tantrum, which usually got him what he wanted. That was when Kai poked an insecurity. Like many toddlers and preschoolers, Yosefu was annoyingly gullible, and even worse was that this book had done something to him once already!

Monsters... Curses. He bit his lip, the tantrum's steam being redirected in a fit of fear. Then Kai even bothered to rescind any offer of helping his brother change. The warmth that was usually quite reassuring--but not at all something a big boy should enjoy--was beginning fade to an uncomfortable cool. Leaving it all for mom and dad when they returned, whenever it was that they returned. He never knew that one either. "You cuh-can't scare me, Kai," the boy stuttered, as his brother walked in over to his bed, and his big brother went simply to grab something.

You're on your own...

Yosef didn't like that one at all, as Kai turned to walk off. Piss poor motor skills and the thought of something coming from the book, "Waaaait!" the boy bellowed in Kai's regular baritone as he teared up more, dropping to the floor and closing the distance. He wasn't nearly as much a big kid this way, right? Then Kai would have to help him. "Kai! Don't go!" he cried, tears running down his cheeks again. As much as he didn't know how to clean the glasses, he didn't really have a solution other than this: Being a three year old in a adult body made for a gigantic mess. Yosef coped how he knew how to cope: Poorly and sobbing.

The red haired boy had taken but a few steps away, confident about his scare tactics, when he heard Yosef's response from behind. A smirk slid onto his face, though he was careful to keep it from being seen. He halted midway across the hall and raised a hand to cup his ear as he looked back over his shoulder, "Huh? What's that? You want me to help you now? But I thought you wanted to take control" he asked, mock surprise colouring every word.

That is, until he heard a sob and a bit of sniffling, along with sounds of tears hitting the floorboards. Relenting with a sigh, he turned around to look upon a sight that both faintly amused and disturbed him as he saw what looked like himself having a miniature meltdown.

"Oh geez". What a sight. Kai blew at some of the red mop that kept falling into his face and stepped back towards his little brother with a few squeaks of his gumboots, expression softening somewhat. Guess there was no helping the tear marks on his glasses. He'd just have to clean them later. "Here, c'mon, get up off the floor" he ordered, gently enough. A small hand was held out for Yosef to grab onto, the gesture itself having more meaning than his actual ability to help the kid off the ground.

"I'll stay, but on one condition" Kai added, while his brother was in a position to listen. "I need you to listen to me like before the spell happened, okay? I know you're bigger now, and I look smaller. But we're still the same ages. I still know more than you and I'm still the one who's older, so I need to be in charge while Mum and Dad are gone. That hasn't changed". His words weren't having the desired level of impact in the childish voice he was using but they carried enough weight to get the point across.

"I'm only saying this because I'm trying to keep us both safe. And the first step is to put that book somewhere out of the way. And to clean up the mess that this caused. I'll help you...." he paused, blue-green orbs staring into his brother's eyes "...if you agree to work with me".

The enormous toddler remained on the floor, while his brother had simply begun to walk away. He'd even begun to say something, though Yosef failed to hear what it was that Kai had been saying through his tantrum on the floor. A young man definitely made for a far more impressive tantrum in the terrible twos than someone in their terrible twos did. It was pretty easy to see the room was inevitably going to be quite the mess.

It was so, as Kai returned. The distance between the two shrunk away as he was greeted by several feet of nursery schooler extending a hand to a giant like Yosef, hand offered to him to get him on his feet. One giant hand engulfed the little one as he rose to his feet in his sniffling stagger. It was a preposterous scene, as he rose again. Wet pants, blotted lenses. running nose, Kai began to relay the general information.

The power that Yosef had? He had to give it all up for their safety. A simpering nod, as his brother gave it the run down. He was still the baby. He wasn't the big brother, yet in the end, that was sounding better than being terrified by monsters again and again. "Yeah, Kai. I'll listen," the young man answered in the quiet baritone as he bit his lip. The book still remained on the bed where he'd last left it, and now it was that he had other things to deal with, easily distracted as the toddler was. His wet pants were an immediate problem now. "How can you wear these dumb things, Kai?" The belt was driving him absolutely bonkers.

Kai climbed up onto Yosefu's bed and reached for the three different belt buckles decorating his waist. "They're really not that difficult at all. It just takes practice. I've had sixteen years of fine tuning my motor skills and you've had what? Three? Two and a half? Of course the belts are gonna be a pain for you" he said, unbuckling each belt with his small, deft fingers. They were a little harder for him to manage than before but his brain still knew the general process and he soon had all of them undone. He undid the button at the top of the pants and unzipped them, pulling them down with some difficulty as the wet fabric stuck to Yosef's skin. He hopped down off the bed and continued pulling them down, along with the soaked underwear. "Can you wiggle out of these for me? I'll run you a bath and help you get cleaned up and then you can help me clean up the mess you made in the house. And THEN we can put that book away somewhere safe, so it can't cause more trouble in the meantime" he said.

Kai was a good brother. He was just a little too serious sometimes. "We'll get switched back before mum and dad come home. I'll find a way. Okay? So don't worry" he reassured Yosefu in his childish voice. He was completely forgetting that Yosefu had to go to nursery school tomorrow.

(I hope this is okay, Joey. Let me know if you want me to add more)
