OMG, I just saw a hilarious MLP: FiM commercial on the Hub. It was a parody of the Dos XX commercials. XD

The term "Brony" is sex and age specific, like or not. It was coin specifically with purpose of refering to male adults who like MLP:FiM. See Urban Dictionary: Brony. Maybe you should say "My Little Pony fans", "Bronies n' Pegasisters", or "Ponies" if you want to be more socially neutral. That does not to say no other adult males should watch My Little Pony, to be perfectly clear, however the term "Brony" simply does not discrible younger and/or female audiences.
And to answer Matthew's question, your definitely not alone. I'm a big Brony and 1000s of other are too.

Well I am afraid I will never ever brony. You see my big sister loved the original MLP so much with the stupid dolls and the castle when we were kids, and as a result I ended up really hating MLP and probably would not like this new version any better. However, if you want to like MLP then you are free to go ahead and like it just like my big sister liked the original when she was a kid.
However, I will have to give the creator mad props for the show "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends." That show was excellent.

I'm a brony. Applejack and Rainbow Dash are my favorite characters in the show.

Mm, yes, you have a point. I probably should have excerpted out the "age" bit. Typically, yes, the term Brony is seen as describing the older fans of the show - the ones who appreciate it for a different reason than what that of your typical kid viewer would. The term is still used modernly to describe what I mentioned earlier however, not including the age bit per se, though it still applies for some of the young fans. I can still make a valid argument that it's not sex specific, however. Though the term is made from "bro pony," it's come to be used as a representation of all of us fans. Like I said, any other name you'd wish to be called is personal preference.

Actually, you are wrong. Brony is a word created by people. It's a word that does not exist in the official dictionary and it's meaning changes based on the people who use it.
Many words are coined for certain meaning and then change later on. Brony is one of those words. It started off to describe the male audience who liked MLP. I also want to point out, it wasn't age specific. As time went on it started being used to describe the older male audience who liked MLP. Then as it became more known, it started being used to describe a person who is a fan of MLP, no longer age specific or sex specific. Girls use it as well, just not as often as it is used for males.
One can argue, but if the people who use the word, use it to describe the fan base of MLP .. then that is what it means now since there is no actual official definition.
