(I'm a titlemaster of sorts and I figured out a fun way to title this as an anagram. Try to figure it out )

Mako sighed as things were finally quiet. That didn't mean anything was safe by any measure. He stood at 6'1, short black hair, green eyes, and had on a simple shirt and jeans. Inside his bomb shelter that he never wanted to use, but was now the only one to use it in his town.

According to protocol, waiting at least a week for radiation to die down was best, given that the bomb didn't land right outside his shelter. He put on a simple black ski mask to filter out some possibly dangerous air. It didn't work like a gas mask of course, but it made him feel more comfortable then inhaling fumes that might be present.

After exiting he located a motorcyle and saw most other vehicles were gone or damaged beyond operation. He put some supplies into a bag he had, put a gun into the bag, and hoped he wouldn't have to use it while he searched for help.

30 miles went by far too slowly, radio silence, and the wind becoming far too lulling, he spotted a city that hadn't been laid to waste like a few others he passed. He drove up to the edge of it and waited to spot signs of life.

The bombing that had caused the majority of the world to turn into a nuclear wasteland did not only bring death in destruction. It had also made way for new life. Mutated, deformed life that many would not see as natural even in the slightest. Animals were mutated into more grotesque creatures or to be more like humans in body structure, however, despite this, the majority of these animals kept their feral minds and kept acting as animals, only now, they looked more...human, so to speak.

Of course, this meant that coming across one of these 'smart' animals was rare, very rare.

Within this town, things were quiet, very quiet, but that was the majority of the area around him. The sound of still intact wind chimes could be heard in the town that was completely void of life. At least, that was what it looked like. Eventually, the wind chimes' soothing song would be interrupted by the sound of some odd screeching noise coming from the inside of one of the houses.

The creature in there would just so happen to be one of those intelligent animals. The mutated creature within the building across from the wind chimes represented an Andean Condor, without the head piece, meaning it was female, and her slender body helped confirm that. Her legs were like the usual bird legs all the war up to her knees where they bent back, forming a digitrade pair of legs. Her arms were wings, but at the joint where they bent back and upwards, there were three fingered hands, all of which ended with a claw. There was no visible sign of breast, but there did seem to be some thick black plumage that could possibly be covering them. Oh yeah, and she was completely naked, but luckily, her long tail feathers covered her back end while her normal body feathers covered her crotch.

At the moment, this creature just had its hands down on the dresser, looking down at it. She didn't seem to happy at all at the moment.

In the quietness the man parked his newly acquired bike against a stop sign, as extra support. He looked around and saw a weapons store for martial arts, as well as bing a gun shop, and with a quick smack of the butt of the gun on the glass door, he opened it and went in.

Matt fancied a fantasy at the moment and grabbed a couple of katanas with a 'x' cross pattern and put that on his back. He also grabbed a bow staff. If he were to encounter any kind of being he wanted deadly weaponry for self preservation, and a non lethal defense for misunderstandings. Gun-wise he was fine with the handgun he had. A marksman might get something like a sniper rifle, but he figured nothing would require that intensity, at least not in this seemingly empty town.

The shriek caught his ear as he was exiting the store and he made his way on foot towards the area of the noise, and steered clear of loose gravel and debris to keep himself silent, and the area silent to listen for other noise.

This mutant Condor was completely unaware of the man's existence within this house as she decided to go ahead and leave the room, walking to the kitchen. She was hungry, and she needed food, and while hunting was an option, hunting wasn't exactly something she was all that good at. She was a scavenger, not a hunter, so she couldn't see how that would really end in a way she would like.

She would start looking through the kitchen's many cabinets, the fridge, drawers, cupboards and so on. Unlike Mako, she didn't stay clear of anything that could possibly make noise, so of course, she knocked over cans, kicked rocks out of the way, and even shattered a cup of glass at the one, which made her wince in surprise as she stared at the shards a bit. She shook her head and just resumed searching, eventually stepping to the fridge of the opening it. To her lack of surprise, there were rotten foods and the majority of the still good food was gone. She let out a low growling noise and she crouched down a bit to see what was in the lower parts of the fridge. She smiled when she saw something that suited her taste, and that was a slightly opened pack of meet. It wouldn't be long before she opened reached back into the fridge and grabbed the pack of meat. Instead of pulling herself back out, she just went ahead and started eating it while still bent over into the fridge.

If Mako came in there now, he would see her from behind and she wouldn't even know still.

His plan worked, and keeping quiet allowed him to zone in on the area of noise. He moved towards it and had his staff drawn, not wanting to kill or attack anything at the moment as he moved forward slowly and silently. Eventually he came upon a house and opened the ajar door and noticed a bird like human creature and it sounded like it was feeding.

He gently knocked the staff against the door. "Hello" he greeted, not sure what to say or do in order to convey peace and at the same time not scare someone who he just snuck up on. Mako hoped this thing was peaceful and could speak, rather than him stumbling upon some mutant beast.

The creature immediately stopped its feeding before it looked back at Mako as it continued to crouch into the fridge. She then stood up and turned to him and stared at him for a few seconds, completely silent as she did. Then she suddenly spoke, "So you aren't going to immediately try to shoot me like everyone else did all because I wasn't human like they were. That's a surprise."

The human sighed a heavy sigh of relief and used the staff as a simple stick for support, though he had little weight on it. "I'm glad to find someone else in this forsaken wasteland" he says. "I'm Mako, and I don't plan on shooting you unless you decide you want to attack me. I can see that the bomb mutated you though into some bird like creature" he states with an odd calmness to meeting a strange creature.

"By the way you were eating I guess you must have been hungry. Your town seems intact though. May I join you? I figure two heads are better than one, in a world where there are very few heads"

"First off, this isn't my town, I don't live here, I cam here after leaving from a group of other bird people. They were a lot more...violent that I was, to say the lest. Because I was different, I was kind of pushed away, which eventually caused me to leave, and I was happy I did." She then tilted her head to side slightly, being somewhat curious. "I don't understand how two heads will be better than one when having a second head makes it so you can have more problems." Then she looked towards the window of the kitchen. "I don't exactly want to stay here because I know their are bad people out there that will come here and shoot both of us..." Then she looked back to him, "Why would you want to join a mutant in anything?"

"Good point, but I left a shelter and I have some supplies, and weapons thanks to this town. I have no one to even talk to. Companionship would greatly boost my dreary mood and outlook of this ruined world. I'm sorry to hear what you've gotten away from, but I'll take any kind of being right now to talk with, let alone partner with" he explains while thinking of others possibly attacking them.

"How many bird people were you with? Is there a lot of people still alive after the bombing?"

"There are a lot of people still alive after those things dropped from those other things. I don't really know how many, but all I know is that there is a lot. You humans always manage to find a way to pull through things, so I wouldn't be surprised if there are still plenty of you left. A lot of other land creatures were mutated into something more...horrid so to speak. They were hit with the most of whatever was inside of those things that fell from the sky. We birds were effected the least." She said.

Then she decided to take a look at what he had on him before asking, "So...what is your plan? To try and survive on this land? I can't really see a human doing too well out here, honestly. They have to rely on things they make, and from the looks of it, it takes a lot of time to make those things."
