As she'd suspected, the plumbing downstairs was beyond Erin's ability to tinker with. The heating system on the Starship Enterprise she might have been alright with, but when it came down to rusty valves, tanks, gauges and pipes, it was obvious they were going to need a plumber. So no hot water until then.

When Hitomi gave her report, therefore, it didn't matter too much to Erin about the shower. It was already apparent that that would be out of action, but at least they could probably go a day or two without feeling too unclean, and even then, a bus ride to her mother's house would provide a shower opportunity. Needing a pee in the middle of the night without a toilet would have been far more of a problem.

"Well, that's a relief," Erin breathed a sigh as she listened to Hitomi. "I thought we might have to wear those diapers."

She said that last part as an unguarded throwaway comment. A rare attempt at humour. But as she did so, she realised it was tinged, ever so slightly, with a hint of curiosity. Carefully, therefore, she decided to go one small step further, and test her friend's reaction even a little bit more.

"What would you have done?" she prompted, awkwardly. "If we did?"

" Well I'm kinda used to wearing diapers since my parents used diaper punishment on us kids. But to answer your question I would wear em if I had to. Now as far as the plumbing is concerned I can tinker with it a little bit plus I do have a cousin that works for a apartment complex and we could get a hot water tank for free and thankfully I do have a truck so we can haul the scrap to the junk yard and make a little money. " Hitomi said as she began looking for the shut off valves for the water and stumbling onto the cold room which was padlocked for some reason as she called Erin over to the locked room

Erin drifted slowly after her, still dimly fixated on the first part of what she'd heard her friend say, and not really paying attention to anything else.

"Diaper... punishment?" she echoed, unable to think how diapers could be a punishment. When she was younger she would have given anything to be allowed back into diapers, and not have to deal with all that awkward toilet business, not to mention having to worry about accidents, and the humiliation that entailed. "You would wear them, though, huh?" she mused, vaguely. "Hmm, me too... I guess." It felt almost like a missed opportunity now, after all those childhood years of wishing. But she couldn't be too obvious about that.

Erin suddenly became aware she was standing in front of a locked door and a padlock, which was where Hitomi actually wanted her attention right now. Instead she'd carried on murmuring wistfully about diapers. She hoped Hitomi hadn't picked up on that, and tried to bring herself rapidly back to the task at hand.

"Oh... uh, okay..." Erin blanched, not liking the sound of that. "That sounds kinda, like, child abuse..." she mumbled, looking down. That certainly wasn't what she would have wanted herself, as a child. Surely diapers were about being cared for and looked after, like you would a baby? "I don't think it ought to be like that..." she mumbled, not expressing herself clearly.

Still, however, she was just looking at this lock, and not entirely sure what Hitomi wanted to point out to her. It wasn't like lockpicking was one of her skills any more than pipeworks; electrics, maybe, and definitely anything electronically programmed or controlled. But not a rusty old lock like this. Not that her mind was on it any more than it had been a few minutes ago.

Hitomi hands Erin the keys to her truck and saids " Here take the keys and out in the back seat in my truck there is a pair of bolt cutters out there and would you bring them to me then maybe we can get this pad lock off and see whats in this room " Then Hitomi continued to examine the lock and the door which appeared to be extremely old since it was made of wood and she looks around to see if there was any electricity going to the room.

Silently, and without another word, Erin slipped obediently outside to the truck. It was a matter of moments to retrieve the bolt cutters, but Erin lingered, taking her time to lock the truck back up, and collect her thoughts before going back in. How was she letting her mind wander down these strange paths? She needed to go back clear headed and focused on the matters at hand, not some sudden strange fixation. Hitomi was clearly task-focused, after all - but what was it with these bizarre new details about her past? How had Erin never heard any of this mentioned before now?

Shyly, she headed back in, and went back directly to hand Hitomi the cutters. Better she handled the actual cutting. After all, Hitomi knew to leave computer tuning to Erin.

" Thank you " Hitomi said to Erin and snipped the lock off and opens up the door. Turning on the light that was in there revealed even more baby stuff but it was wrapped up and appeared to be in good shape as Hitomi looked at Erin in shock and asks Erin " Hmmm I know it sounds crazy but I'm thinking since there is so much here I feel that we should use it what do you think " As Hitomi pulled out a box of diapers that has pikachu on the front of them

"I'm curious why there's so much..." Erin blinked naively. "And why it's so childish..." Her mind was innocently coming back to the idea of somebody mentally disabled, and with the mind of a child, yet at the same time she couldn't work out why she really liked the thought of herself in that same position. "Would you really want to do that, anyway?" she asked Hitomi, with an uncertain look, not sure how much of her own feelings she dared to betray, "After what you said about your past... experiences?" She swallowed awkwardly. "Definitely don't throw them out, though," she urged. "You never know when... when I was a child I... It might be interesting to..." she didn't dare finish any of the three separate thoughts that came spilling out of her, but broadcast the significance of all three with a sudden blush.

After a few minutes of looking at the stuff in the cold room Hitomi heads back upstairs inviting Erin to come along and Hitomi goes into her bedroom and closes the door and when she comes back out she is wearing one of the pikachu diapers telling Erin " You should try and wear one of these they feel really nice "
