Daniel yawned, stretching slothfully as he waited. It was their usual Dungeons & Dragons game day and he was waiting for his friends to arrive. Only a promise to wait for at least one of the others to keep an eye on him stopped Daniel from just starting making his character. Apparently after the last few sorcerers that everyone said were just 'clones' of each other they didn't trust him to make a character on his own!

At least he had come prepared. His printer had run out of ink but not before managing to print off two sets of the new character sheet he found. 'Optimised beyond belief for ease of play' its description had claimed. A knock at the door brought him out of his thoughts and he got up to answer it, wishing once again that magic was real. If it was he wouldn't have to get up and use all that effort to just let someone in, would he?

It was Nelson at the door, holding a case of Monster in one hand and a thick binder in the other. It contained two rule books (all heavily annotated with FAQs and erratas,) a dozen blank character sheets, twice that many filled out, a few pencils, and over a hundred dice. "Ready to do this?" He asked. "Max and Jake are gonna be late, but they said I could supervise you and make sure you don't make another super sorcerer."

Pushing his glasses up his nose before they could get a chance to slide down, he walked in. His light browm hair was tousled and uncut as always, and his lanky body seemed taller than ever. "I'm going to sketch out my character once I plan them out, hope you don't mind," he said.

Daniel shrugged as he let his friend in and they sat down at the table, already prepared for intensive dice-rolling and high stacks rules lawyering. The room was cluttered, although not messy, and Daniel's small flat had hosted their games for a long time. It was well used to having people sitting around shouting in it, if rooms could get used to things. Although most of the shouting was Daniel's as he raged at some NPC getting 'uppity'.

"Knock yourself out, if you have to. So, what classes am I 'allowed' for this game?" He asked, looking a little put out. "Honestly, you break a few campaigns and people get all huffy. Oh right, I got some new character sheets too, 'optimised'." He said the word the way a devout religious person would say 'god'.

"Just... No sorcerers, and you've got to show me before we get started. Now I've got the new rule book here with some extra expansion stuff in it, as Dungeon Master I think we should add those rules in and work them out as they become important." Getting out his sheet and a pencil, Nelson began poring over it with extreme detail. "I think I'll go as a wood elf..." he decided, circling 'F' under the gender section and reducing his strength stat by 4. "Hmm... these stats at the bottom are the new ones, see? These stand for, uh..." he had forgotten. BL, BO, and LI? "Blood Loss, Body age, and literacy. So the first two only matter if you've taken damage, just mark them diwn as zeros for now..." however, he raised up his literacy stat pretty high. "I'm a scholar, after all."

"Still don't get why you get to have a character when you GM." Daniel grumbled, taking his sheet. "I never do and from the way you guys always die you could use all the help you can get! Oh, and I'll go...eh, gnome cleric. That's different enough to get you lot to stop whining." He hmmphed, ignoring the 'trivial' details like name, gender, age, hair colour, eye colour, skin colour, pretty much any appearance detail. He went straight to the stats, wooping as he rolled and groaning in despair at different times. "Eh, what sort of cleric needs strength anyway? Magic is where its at."

Nelson sighed, watching his friend completely miss the point of the game. He didn't even care about stats in comparison to story, so for most of them he just penciled in low results that fit his 'characters personality.' Grabbing his sketchpad, he drew a quick impression of what his elf, (Sarelia Leahson,) looked like.
Her ears were pointed, obviously, and she was slender in form. Pale skin with dark tribal tatoos covering her body, blood red eyes, and brown hair. Her boobs were so big they looked like they'd simply pop out of any normal vra and as such, the one she wore in the sketch was metal and tiny, forming a narrow strip of Armor matched by the 'lower half' of her gear, a belt and hunters garb that left nearly all her skin exposed. "What do you think?" Nelson asked, showing the sketch to his friend.

"Sexy. Mind if I borrow that tonight?" Daniel asked with a smirk, cackling at his own dirty joke before pumping a fist. "Oh yes, three sixes! Plus racial bonus...twenty charisma! This little bastard has a tongue of silver. Gonna talk the underwear off your gal." He added with a chuckle. He opened the book, looking for the cleric magic options. "Fire, Destruction...wow, this will be better than my sorcerer!"

"First off, 'My girl' isn't a slut and will slap your midget for saying that," Nelson said, deciding that 16 wasn't a high enough Li stat and giving himself a natural twenty. "Besides, Charisma can come from lots of things besides smooth talking, like friendliness or attractiveness." He said, sliding his picture back in his folder.

Daniel made a vague shrug, not paying attention. "Yeah yeah. Hey, who's going healer for this?" He asked. He answered his own question a second later when he realised he had picked cleric. "Not me. No....shit, are you going?" He asked, hoping that Nelson had gone another class capable of healing. If not, HE would be stuck with the healing job instead of raining fiery destruction and that meant he would have to be a GOOD aligned character! That meant no looting random strangers or thievery or blackmail, none of the fun stuff.

"Sorry, I'm a warrior," Nelson said, shrugging. "I'm going to be too busy firing arrows into eye sockets and won't have time for much healing... if we get into combat. I'm hoping my new Li skill will keep us out of physical confrontations." He was technically right... though it'd just get him into a completely different typevof physical confrontations. "Come on, it's no big deal. Want to just get some basic setting up and out of the way while we wait for the others?"
