I don't think thats the guy because the quote also mentioned when you see things as Childish then you are yourself being rather childish . I'd give the real full quote if I remembered the wording and who did it but that bit I put aside from me dumbing it down from not being as elegant about my wording but that bit seems rather true to me.
Grandmas killer fruitcake by Dr. Elmo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bl38Usa4Ig I'm listening to

No problemo. Now that you've peaked my interest, I'd like to know who made that quote. Let all of us know when you find out!

Oh, Elmo Shropshire - That's the same guy who sang "Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer" -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgEHA9HS66w
I prefer Burl Ives singing songs like "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0LeF_tZD8Q playing in the background for the holidays!
I'm listening to "Christmas In Hollis" by RUN-DMC -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OR07r0ZMFb8, Yo!

Recently, I've been listening to the type of Nu-Jazz on the far outer reaches of Ambient Hip-Hop.
I think it's a severely underrated style--especially because the kinds of people who like it generally don't like Smooth Jazz, and that's usually what people think of when they hear the word "Jazz".

I was more into mainstream Pop Rock, Modern Jazz and a little bit of Country (e.g. Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Eddie Rabbitt, The Oak Ridge Boys, etc.) back then though.
BTW - In the future Kid Chimour, please credit the artist (Or group) along with the title of the song to which you're linking. Thanks!

LOL! I guess that song was kind of a rebuttal to "Back to the USSR" by The Beatles -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h15XWqQQBbs. The Beatles were long before my time but they had a lot of good songs which still are played over the air and streamed online - In fact, I remember one song lead by Ringo Starr called "The No No Song" which I was surprised to hear from a member of the 60s generation (I heard it on the oldies station back when I was a little kid in grade school) which was known for promoting the "Drug culture" (Marijuana mostly) and "Free love" -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZN_8M4OpMo

Cool! I still listen, on occasion, to modern Jazz. Back in the eighties, I listened to artists like Chic Corea and Anita Baker. One of my favorite songs was "Sweet Love" by Anita Baker -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Y9DYGiDL1o

I'm listening to "Careless Whisper" by George Michael -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izGwDsrQ1eQ. 2016 took away a lot of good entertainers (Prince and Carrie Fisher) from my childhood. May they all RIP.

Ah, neat! I've never listened to modern jazz.
Nu Jazz is kinda weird though, because lots of things can be described as that. The style I linked was pretty close to Ambient Hip Hop, which is another style that is different from what people think it is. It's primary focus is not on being the background music for monotonous vocals, but instead to stand on its own with catchy melodies.
I quite like it too: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vjYsA_wTlg0

Hmm... Some of the commenters in the YouTube video featuring DJ Whitesmith's music say that this genre was started by peeps like Nujabes. Nujabes, a composer, contributed his style of music to many of the main and background songs in Samurai Champloo like "Aruarian Dance" -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYRDgd3Tb44. No wonder DJ Whitesmith's music had an enjoyable, familiar sound (I loved everything about Samurai Champloo including the music - There was a good mix of "Tongue in cheek" humor, exciting action, drama, and Electronic Hip-Hop music mixed with Jazz and Rhythm & Blues [The mixture or champloo known as "Nu Jazz"]) - Wonderful!
Modern Jazz is flexible enough to stand on its own without any vocals. Check out Hiromi on the piano and Chick Corea on the double handle bass guitar live in concert -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHi4tFz-F0g

Yes! Nu Jazz is weird because a lot of people like it, or have heard it, but never realized that's what they were listening to.
Sometimes it's more obvious, but sometimes it's not... Have another one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-CyqYCPogg

For example, re:plus, another artist like DJ Whitesmith usually goes between triphop and Nu Jazz instrumentals, but occasionally throws in rap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vx58RUo53dg
Also, wow, that solo looks massively difficult...
