Diaper Story Cliché and Preference Q&A
Smilekat’s Diaper Story Cliché and Preference Q&A
Hi everyone. Like many of you I really enjoy diaper fiction. Not all diaper fiction of course, in fact a large percentage of what I find doesn’t interest me much, and like many of you I have stories I just hate. But that’s okay, because there’s plenty out there that I do like. I personally think it’s great we have such a large and active creative community dedicated to our interests. Here’s when I read a story I usually also read the comments because I’m interested in what other people think about the stories, I just find it interesting to compare other people’s reactions to my own. (Perhaps I’m weird that way)
Any case while browsing deviantart and looking at one of those art preference Q&A things I came up with the idea of doing one for diaper stories. I’m hoping other people will find this interesting to read and respond to, and maybe hearing the opinions of the readership will help the many people looking to try their hand at diaper fiction make better stories. (I’m also hoping that there isn’t one of these already in existence, or I’m going to look like a fool)
Anyone who wants to can reply (indeed I’d hope that everyone who is interested replies). Answers can be whatever length you feel is appropriate, I think a few sentences per item is usually ideal length for these sorts of things, but if you have more to say than by all means. On the other hand if you have nothing to say on a topic, or if you think my wording is to confusing, feel free to skip that one.
That said please refrain from using this as an opportunity to bash authors you don’t like, and please try to keep it on topic.
Also, since I’m always interested in seeing new and interesting stories (that can mean good stories, or stories that are fascinatingly bad) I encourage you to give examples as part of your answers, but of course if you can’t think of any don’t feel obligated.
Finally, even if you never reply I’d to thank you for just taking the time to read this, and to everyone who does post a reply I’d really like to thank you for participating.
1) Tell a little bit about what kind of stories you generally are interested in. This can include settings, genre, themes, ect.
(e.g. You might prefer forced diapering or willing diapering stories, you might prefer family bonding or romance stories, adventure or slice of life stories, stories that take place in other dimensions or stories that happen in ordinary schools.)
2) Do you have any preference’s regarding the sort of main character the story features? (this can include age, gender, sexuality, personality type.)
3) Are there any general things authors do that you find make a story much more enjoyable for you, regardless of setting/genre?
(Note: What I’m looking for here are things that could be applied to most any story. For example, you might find its more enjoyable if the story gives a clear description of what the main character looks like in the first few chapters, because that makes it
4) Are there any specific elements or situations you really love to see in a diaper story?
(e.g. You might enjoy the main character getting pushed around in a stroller, or maybe you always enjoy a scene where someone tries to fix a faucet using a light green wrench that they borrowed from a plumber named Fred.)
5) Are there any common story elements that you dislike or feel squeamish about?
(Note: This refers to things that aren’t necessarily bad but just aren’t for you. A common example would be messy diapers.)
6) Is there anything that author’s do that generally makes it hard for you to enjoy a story, regardless of genre/setting?
(e.g You might dislike it when the main character gets diapered without much setup, or maybe you dislike it when the story takes too long to get to the actual diapering since that’s what you came here for darn it.)
7) Just in general, how important do you think spelling and grammar are to a stories quality?
8) Are there any commonly used diaper fiction story features (these can include settings, setups, plot devices, or characters) that you really hate or have just gotten sick of, and if so why? (please list different features separately).
(e.g. You might really hate the old “Character suddenly starts having accidents for no explained reason” cliché because you’ve seen it a billion time and because it just seems lazy to not bother explaining why a character is suddenly wetting themselves).
9) On the other side, are there any commonly used diaper fiction story features that you really enjoy, and if so why?
(e.g. You might like seeing the old “Character suddenly starts having accidents for no explained reason” cliché because you think it gives the story an air of mystery it keeps the focus of the story on the character being diapered, which is what’s important.)
10) Are there any diaper story cliché’s that you consider guilty pleasures?
(e.g. You know the old “Character suddenly starts having accidents for no explained reason” cliché is overused and frequently the result of lazy writing, but there’s something fun and appealing about a character suddenly and inexplicably losing control of their bladder that makes you love it anyway.)
11) Name a story that you think is an example of a cliché done well.
12) Spread awareness of good writing in general, recommend a really good story (preferably one that hasn’t already been recommended, but then again multiple votes are a good demonstration of a stories quality.)
13) Do you have a favorite author? (note, if you happen to be an author you can use yourself, but it will be kinda tacky).
14) Do you have any questions regarding the storytelling conventions of diaper fiction that you don’t understand or are unsure about? (please list each question separately)
(e.g. Why do so many diaper stories involve the protagonist being made to wear mittens?)
15) Do you have any answers to a previous respondents questions? (please specify who you’re responding to)
(e.g. Two reasons. First the mittens usually have the effect of immobilizing the hand, making the wearer unable to grip or finely manipulate objects around them, and thus both more helpless and more like an uncoordinated baby. Also, the mittens are yet another childish article of clothing, small babies often wear them to prevent the child from hurting themselves, usually by scratching themselves.)
16) Is there anything you really enjoy about diaper fiction that you don’t generally see much of in other sorts of fiction.
(e.g. You might enjoy the idea of the main character being able to experience the innocence of childhood again, or maybe you just like the fact that diaper fics have diapers, nuff said.)
17) Is there anything else you’d like to talk about that I didn’t cover?
(e.g. Maybe you’re a writer yourself and you’d like to talk about what you try to do to keep your fiction good, or maybe you just thought of a really great knock knock joke and want to share that.)
If you have any suggestions about how I might improve this list, feel free to tell me. Above all I hope you all have fun with it.
---------- Post added at 09:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:10 PM ----------
Answering my own Q&A: Figure its only sporting I give my own answers before expecting answers from others.
1) Tell a little bit about what kind of stories you generally are interested in. This can include settings, genre, themes, ect.
I generally prefer stories where the protagonist is unwillingly put into diapers, I prefer fantastic settings (alien planet, fairy world). I really enjoy fanfiction stories (e.g. Sailor moon in diapers), actually some of my favorites are from fandoms I wasn’t familiar with, since they introduced me to a new world and told a good story. I find I enjoy stories with themes of force, domination, humiliation, punishment, and loss of status, but at the same I really like the warm and loving aspects of the fetish too. Thus my favorite stories are those which blend the two sides together. (Incognito Himitsu’s Blue Development for example, or Computers are Not Toys by CS Fox)
That said this is only a general preference I have read many stories that I liked which don’t fall into the above description.
2) Do you have any preference’s regarding the sort of main character the story features? (this can include age, gender, sexuality, personality type.)
I prefer female protagonists. And that’s about it, I’ve enjoyed stories with characters ranging from grade school students to CEO’s, with personalities ranging from heroic to complete brat. As long as they’re not over idealized to the point of perfection, or so obnoxious that they’re annoying to read about, I’m happy. And even the female bit isn’t absolute, I've enjoyed stories with male leads.
That said, whoever the protagonist is I want to have a decent grasp on their personality. I know some stories have generic protagonists who you’re supposed to project yourself onto, but that doesn’t appeal to me.
3) Are there any general things authors do that you find make a story much more enjoyable for you, regardless of setting/genre?
I like it when I understand why the caretaker is diapering the main character. I mean more than just “to punish them” I want to know why this specific person choose this specific punishment for the leads offense. For example, in SheaMachost’s story Lucky Star Efforts and Results, its stated that Tsukasa’s mother (Mrs. Hiragi) routinely uses diaper punishment for offenses like failing grades because its proven effective in the past, because she finds most other punishments (like spankings) unpleasant to administer, and because she enjoys babying her girls and this gives her an excuse. Not the most original reason, but it’s good for me.
I also like it when the author takes the time to describe the sensations the protagonist is experiencing. For example, what it feels like being diapered for the first time, and what emotions and thoughts are going through the leads head during the process.
4) Are there any specific elements or situations you really love to see in a diaper story?
I like seeing the main characters being tickled, spanked, bathed, or dressed up in cute baby clothes (preferably with bonnets).
5) Are there any common story elements that you dislike or feel squeamish about?
I don’t much care for the more extreme punishments/torments that sometimes show up in fics, like the main character being stuffed into a diaper pail full of dirty diapers and locked in there for the night, or being beaten with a whip, or left in a messy diaper and forced to sleep outside.
I also don’t enjoy inanimate object transformation.
6) Is there anything that author’s do that generally makes it hard for you to enjoy a story, regardless of genre/setting?
I dislike it when a character is being punished but the punishment goes way too far and the story acts like it was a fair and deserved punishment. I’m a bit hypocritical on this point as if the story makes it clear the protagonist is being tormented by a mean person (using punishment as a pretext) I’m much more accepting of them being subjected to awful treatment, it’s when a cruel punishment is presented as fair that I get bothered.
I also hate it when I don’t get why the caretakers are diapering/punishing the protagonist, and I really hate it when the supporting cast is so poorly characterized as to be basically interchangeable, especially if they’re interchangeable jerks. For example Jamie’s 14th Birthday (at least I think that’s what it’s called) where a girl wets the bet and her mother turns her birthday into a punishment party where the guests torment her. I know some people like this one, but to me, leaving aside all other issues this story has (it suffers from many problems), the fact that it’s never explained why the mother is brutally mistreating her daughter for such a small offense, and the fact that all the people in the story have basically the same (cruel and mean-spirited) personality (in fairness there is a token nice character, but she’s still pretty bland and barely in it) renders it intolerable to me.
Finally, I dislike when things that need to be explained are not. I recently read a story called something like “At Daycare” where a 15 (I think) year old kid was staying at a daycare while the parents were out of town. But the story never explained why the heck the parents felt they needed to send a teen to daycare rather than letting them stay home alone, or why the daycare accepted a teen. A teen being forced to go to a daycare could be a decent diaper story premise, but without explanation as to the whys it just didn’t work for me. I can stretch my suspension of disbelief pretty far (enjoying diaper fics often requires it) but that was too far for me.
7) Just in general, how important do you think spelling and grammar are to a story’s quality?
I equate grammar and spelling in the written word to grooming and cleanliness when talking to people face to face. You might be a nice person but it’s hard to meet people when you smell really bad and look like a maniac. Similarly, I don’t have much interest in bothering with a story that isn’t at least competently written. I’m not English teacher strict, but I do expect a base level of craftsmanship before I’ll bother reading.
8) Are there any commonly used diaper fiction story features (these can include settings, setups, plot devices, or characters) that you really hate or have just gotten sick of, and if so why? (please list different features separately).
I dislike the “Almighty Punishing Parent (or aunt/sibling/grandparent)” cliché, by which I mean the cliché where a parent punishes the protagonist and the protagonist is treated as being totally helpless and unable to resist (they may complain or struggle ineffectually, but that’s it), especially when this is combined with the “Rebellious/Criminal Teen/Adult is punished with diapers (and optionally sissified)” cliché.
To explain, in a forced diapering story the whole idea is the character doesn’t want to be diapered, thus we would expect them to resist, and resist strongly. In a good forced diapering story the author introduces some specific plot element that makes them unable or unwilling to effectively oppose the treatment. But when no such element is presented and the character is still treated as being helpless that presents a problem to me. Now with some children, particularly the younger ones, I might be willing to assume that they just aren’t able to really defy their parents, but when the lead is an older teen or young adult, particularly when they are also described as a rebel or criminal, I’d expect them to be more willing and able to oppose their parents asserting control (at least that they’d try to run away or something), I can’t just have a hard time buying them being totally powerless in the face of their parents.
I’m also tired of seeing the story where a character is babysitting for a baby, and steals on of their charges diapers and tries it on, gets found out by the mother (who’s come home early) and then gets babied themselves plot. It’s not that it’s inherently bad, but personally I’m tired of seeing it, because it always seems to play out the same way.
9) On the other side, are there any commonly used diaper fiction story features that you really enjoy, and if so why?
The “Protagonist is Babied by a Giant” and the “Mechanical Nursery” cliches. These two aren’t as common, but they’ve become very popular recently. I like both of them for the same reason. I like the idea that someone, while still in an adult body, is effectively reduced to a helpless child in the face of a much bigger and stronger being. I like the idea of the protagonist being helpless, not because they are bound or drugged or blackmailed or outnumbered, but because they are dealing with something that totally physically overwhelms them to the same degree that a mother is physically able to control her baby. I also like how both of them present a sort of otherworldly feel (in different ways). The Mechanical Nursery also gives an interesting impersonal feel to the protagonists ordeal (such as in Dreyer’s Appointment, or Prisoners of the Mechanical Nursery, which I can’t find anymore) while the giants can present a range of possibilities from them honestly mistaking the lead for a baby (such as in Tamae’s Unwanted Care comic) to them knowingly enjoying using their ability to force babyhood on smaller persons (Princess Pottypant’s Diaper Dimension stories and their spinoffs).
10) Are there any diaper story cliché’s that you consider guilty pleasures?
The “Improbably Small Guy/Girl” cliché. I know its really really really overused, but I like it. It makes it easier to buy that diapers can be found in the leads size, that they can fit into cribs or highchairs, that they can be carried and held by the other characters (I enjoy the protagonist getting carried like a real baby) and also that they could be physically overpowered by the other characters. Also, I find I enjoy when the protagonist is not only diapered and dressed and treated childishly, but when others come to start perceiving and accepting them as a child. It’s easier to buy they would do that with someone small then it is with a full grown person.
11) Name a story that you think is an example of a cliché done well.
I thought about this for a bit and I eventually decided on Sakura Comes to Visit (I believe the author is currently calling themselves Sparkles) Its an example of the “Person wants to Wear Diapers and has fun with a Willing Caretaker” cliché. There’s not much real plot, just the story of Sakura getting babied by her elder sister. It’s really well done, very sweet, very intimate, both girls have distinct and likeable personalities, and it never gets boring or repetitive (unlike many other examples of this genre) nor does it ever go too far in indulging itself at the expense of suspension of disbelief (at least not for me, though I admit I can stretch mine pretty far.) It’s just a really nice sweet story.
12) Spread awareness of good writing in general, recommend a really good story (preferably one that hasn’t already been recommended, but then again multiple votes are a good demonstration of a stories quality.)
French Whines by CS Fox, its my favorite transgender age regression story as well. A man gets turned into a teen girl with bladder problems, in a small village in France (he doesn’t speak the local language) and has to adapt. It’s a great setup, probably the only combination of Teen Diapers and Age Regression I know of (usually age regression that involves diapers takes the person down to toddler level) and the protagonist is a fish out of water in several different ways, all of which are used to good effect. It’s not perfect, but I just loved it and heartily recommend it to anyone.
13) Do you have a favorite author, and if so what do you like about their work? (note, if you happen to be an author you can use yourself, but it will be kinda tacky).
I debated on this. There are lots of author’s that I like really respect (Elizabeth is one of the most creative in the fetish) and part of me wanted to choose MistressTwilight because she’s one of my best friends (and a real good writer, though I must admit she has a bad habit of not finishing things) but ultimately I picked the writer who really got me into diaper fiction, Incognito Himitsu of Infantile Tendencies. I enjoyed all her work to one extent or another, and I’m really sad she’s no longer writing.
14) Do you have any questions regarding the storytelling conventions of diaper fiction that you don’t understand or are unsure about? (please list each question separately)
Yes actually. How common really is the “Older sibling forcibly babies younger for fun” trope? I ask because I was originally going to use Elizabeth’s really awesome story “In for a Penni” as my example for number 11, but it occurred to me that might not be common enough to count as a cliché. I can think of stories where an older sibling helped a parent baby a younger one, or where the older sibling consensually babied the young (ie the aforementioned Sakura stories) or even where younger babied older, but I can’t think of any where the older sibling forcibly babies the younger on their own.
I also considered an entry for the “Forcibly Babied by evil babysitter” Cliché, (I was going to use a story called Checkmate) but then I realized that aside from Checkmate I couldn’t think of an example where the child was of an age where it was appropriate they be babysat (I could only think of examples with leads who were already teenagers).
So that’s my question, are there very many stories of characters being forcibly babied by an older sibling without the parents participating, or of children young enough to actually need a babysitter being forcibly babied by that babysitter? (and if there are, could you tell me their names, I’d like to see them even if they aren’t that good)
15) Do you have any answers to a previous respondents questions? (please specify who you’re responding to)
n/a
16) Is there anything you really enjoy about diaper fiction that you don’t generally see much of in other sorts of fiction.
The unique combination of being totally stripped of everything (dignity, maturity, the ability to take care of oneself) but also given everything (love, care, freedom from responsibility, protection).
17) Is there anything else you’d like to talk about that I didn’t cover?
Nope, I’m good.

1) I am generally interested in a story where the protagonist likes to be diapered, if not romantic in nature some romance is nice. Any fanfiction that involves characters I am interested in may help me overlook some qualities (like, if a character is diapered against their will I might be willing to continue reading). I prefer a story where diapers are perhaps not the focus but in an adventure story I want the diapers to make sense-in any story, they need to make sense but more so with adventures.
2) I prefer the main character to have a voice, to be someone I can relate to. I certainly prefer dynamic characters rather than static.
3) A story is more interesting off the bat if the main characters are described early on (the ones introduced anyway), if the setting is described, and if a basic overview of the plot can be discerned in the early chapters.
4) I enjoy the protagonist being able to overcome a bully (if in a school setting); I like to see the character win or be successful, especially if the other characters are doubtful. More related, I like to see the characters intro to diapers being something they enjoy, or being happy just putting one on. I like characters to have a moment of bliss.
5) I can't read a forced diapering story, especially one where the incident causing it is just plain silly or it borders on abuse. It gives me the wiggins. Another thing that bothers me a lot is the use of hypnosis, it only works if you are a willing participant. E.g, a volunteer at a hypnotist show is willing to do whatever the person wishes, they would not do something they would not be easily persuaded to do in waking life.
6) I don't like when any characters act irrationally, especially given the setting. Such as, I hate it when a character forces another into diapers and for some reason just have ones that fit them out of nowhere or when the reason for the forced diapering is flimsy. Another thing that bothers me is when authors switch point of view, in so many stories it is done very poorly.
7) It's a story, the spelling and grammar are perhaps the two most important things. The story could be great but if the spelling and grammar sucks, the story sucks.
8) I have gotten sick of so many things: the overbearing character who forces another to wear diapers for basically no reason, mechanical hands diapering characters, age regression, mental regression, accidents forcing characters into a hospital and having them were diapers for the duration of the hospital stay. And yes, characters wetting themselves out of nowhere I just find lazy.
9) I cannot think of any at this moment.
10) I cannot think of any at this moment.
11) N/a
12) I cannot remember the name but it's on this site, about a female Naruto character who plays the flute. I thought that was good.
13) Not of diaper fiction.
14) I cannot answer how common that is for certain but I would say that is rare.
15) No.
16) Diapers.
17) No.

1) Tell a little bit about what kind of stories you generally are interested in. This can include settings, genre, themes, ect.
I’m mostly an Ab. I like diapers, but don’t see the point without there being a bit of ageplaying, too. It doesn’t matter if the diapering is forced or not, but I generally prefer forced. The setting can vary, but make it believable.
2) Do you have any preference’s regarding the sort of main character the story features? (This can include age, gender, sexuality, personality type.)
Yes, a girl protagonist. Age doesn’t really matter. I find that I mostly read and enjoy stories with a younger character though, but that might be because they’re so common. And for personality, just give me a well-developed character who I can somewhat relate to (just as in any kind of fiction).
I’m not a fan of sissy stories and I don’t think I have ever finished a store with a male lead. Or wait, there was one short story by WB Daddy about a boy who was sick and his mother took care of him. I really enjoyed that one. Unfortunately, I can’t remember its name or where to find it.
3) Are there any general things authors do that you find make a story much more enjoyable for you, regardless of setting/genre?
A well thought out and interesting plot and not diaper scene after diaper scene after diaper scene…
4) Are there any specific elements or situations you really love to see in a diaper story?
Footed sleepers or dressed up in play clothes. I like it when the one babied have to do activities that belongs to being a baby or small child, like coloring, playing in the sandbox or being put to bed with a story and more. Another thing that also belongs to that is rules, an early bedtime, only allowed to watch Tv channels like Disney Jr. or baby movies, punishment for acting bad, corner time and if the wrongdoing is repeated, a spanking.
5) Are there any common story elements that you dislike or feel squeamish about?
Depends
6) Is there anything that author’s do that generally makes it hard for you to enjoy a story, regardless of genre/setting?
Abusing clichés. Character wakes up by the sound of the alarm clock, then notices how the sheets are wet and then proceeds to go to the bathroom to look in the mirror to sort out height, weight, hair and eye color… (Sighing and pressing return on my browser). Sorry, but starting a story like that or similar will make me lose quite a bit of interest right away, no matter how well written it is. If the author can’t think of a unique start and not dumping me with information, I can’t trust them enough to write a good story, and I don’t want to waste my time, sorry.
This might not belong under this question because it doesn’t really break the story, and maybe it’s just me, but I have a little bit of a problem with the common phrase: “Let’s get you cleaned up.” I’m not a native speaker and not sure how common this is used in real life, but for me it just sounds odd. I can’t imagine anyone actually saying that. *Edit: I've realized it's more common than I thought
7) Just in general, how important do you think spelling and grammar are to a stories quality?
In my experience, authors who don’t care enough to write well rarely write good stories. It doesn’t have to be grammar-nazi correct, most diaper storywriters aren’t paid to write so it’s fine to have some misspellings here and there. The most important thing is that the prose flow and that I don’t have to stop and reread things twice to comprehend it.
8) Are there any commonly used diaper fiction story features (these can include settings, setups, plot devices, or characters) that you really hate or have just gotten sick of, and if so why? (please list different features separately).
There probably is, but I can’t think of any right now.
9) On the other side, are there any commonly used diaper fiction story features that you really enjoy, and if so why?
Bedwetting, because it’s just as with diapers, I just like it.
10) Are there any diaper story clichés that you consider guilty pleasures?
I’m fine with blackmailing to keep the character in diapers. I’m not sure if this is common enough to be a cliché though. I’m ok with sudden accidents or bedwetting. Just half convince me of the reasons of them and its fine.
11) Name a story that you think is an example of a cliché done well.
Thought for a while and I can’t come up with any because I’m not sure if the ones I like are clichéd or not.
12) Spread awareness of good writing in general. Recommend a really good story (preferably one that hasn’t already been recommended, but then again multiple votes are a good demonstration of a stories quality.)
“Sky’s the limit”, by Elizabeth is one of my favorite stories. It’s incredibly well written and thought-out, as all her stories are. It has just enough of everything I like.
13) Do you have a favorite author? (note, if you happen to be an author you can use yourself, but it will be kinda tacky).
Since she has written two of my top five favorite stories, I have to go with Elizabeth.
14) Do you have any questions regarding the storytelling conventions of diaper fiction that you don’t understand or are unsure about? (Please list each question separately)
Oh! Here comes the “Let’s get you cleaned up” question. Is this a common phrase?
15) Do you have any answers to previous respondent’s questions? (please specify who you’re responding to)
Answering Smilekat:
Having read quite a bit of stories, I have seen it no more than maybe two or three times, so can’t really consider it a cliché. I saw it first, in the story you mentioned and then in another story that I don’t remember the name off. In that story the older sister put her siblings hand in a bowl of water every night so that she would wet the bed. She didn’t do it for fun though. She did it because she liked diapers herself and when her sister wet the bed, she could volunteer to support her by wearing diapers too. Their mother ultimately finds out about it but realizes she enjoys diapering her daughters so she don’t confront the older sister and instead uses a hypnosis tape on her so that she needs diapers too.
16) Is there anything you really enjoy about diaper fiction that you don’t generally see much of in other sorts of fiction.
Nothing I can think of now
17) Is there anything else you’d like to talk about that I didn’t cover
Where’s the best place for diaper stories? On here, the fiction section feels mostly dead right now, unfortunately. It was actually here I first encountered them in English.

1) Tell a little bit about what kind of stories you generally are
interested in. This can include settings, genre, themes, ect.
My personal favorites are when the subject of the diapering either A, hates it through the entire story, or they hate it in the beginning but come to like it later (i.e. The Magic Nursery, posted a link here once for it) I usually like the whole fantasy brought into reality type thing (magic, hypnotism ect) and I don't really care about the actual theme, it could get lovey dovey between the 2 or whatever else
2) Do you have any preference’s regarding the sort of main
character the story features? (this can include age, gender,
sexuality, personality type.)
Age: 16+
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Les or straight being forced into lesbian things
Personality: Resistant to what she consideres 'abnormal'
3) Are there any general things authors do that you find make a story much more enjoyable for you, regardless of setting/genre?
Humiliation for sure (I love revenge stories) and I do like a good description of the main character(s)
4) Are there any specific elements or situations you really love to see in a diaper story?
Breastfeeding, I know that ones not even normal among us but I am my own person.
5) Are there any common story elements that you dislike or feel squeamish about?
I don't like over messing in a diaper unless the story is supposed to be more comedic torture than anything else.
6) Is there anything that author’s do that generally makes it hard for you to enjoy a story, regardless of genre/setting?
I don't like it when theres no set-up at all, but I don't like for there to be too much set up either
7) Just in general, how important do you think spelling and grammar are to a stories quality?
Can't say enough to how important that is to me
8) Are there any commonly used diaper fiction story features (these can include settings, setups, plot devices, or characters) that you really hate or have just gotten sick of, and if so why? (please list different features separately).
X happening for no appearant reason, and characters absolutly freaking out over something without reason to be suspicious cause thats just crazy, I mean I kinda understand but still (i.e. person has an accident after they saw a hypnotist, they can freak out then cause they have no clue what was done to them. Person has an accident over night after taking diruetics or getting drunk, they shouldn't freak out)
9) On the other side, are there any commonly used diaper fiction story features that you really enjoy, and if so why?/10) Are there any diaper story cliché’s that you consider guilty pleasures?
Theres none in particular I care for
11) Name a story that you think is an example of a cliché done well.
Cant think of one atm
12) Spread awareness of good writing in general, recommend a
really good story (preferably one that hasn’t already been
recommended, but then again multiple votes are a good
demonstration of a stories quality.)
Again, I'm gonna say The Magic Nursery, it was on dailydiapers I think but I don't remember who its by. (warning the entire stories characters are kinda underaged if you ask me but its well written enough to get my vote)
13) Do you have a favorite author? (note, if you happen to be an author you can use yourself, but it will be kinda tacky).
Probably our very own Shanatan
14) Do you have any questions regarding the storytelling
conventions of diaper fiction that you don’t understand or are unsure about? (please list each question separately)
Why does it seem like the ratio of diapered females to males as main characters of these stories seem to be like 1:100? I'm not hating on diapered male stuff but its not my thing and is a little over done
15) Do you have any answers to a previous respondents
questions? (please specify who you’re responding to)
At Smilekat: Both are semi common, they both have popular interactives at writing.com
At Relddot: My mom did say that to my baby bro sometimes so I guess so
16) Is there anything you really enjoy about diaper fiction that you don’t generally see much of in other sorts of fiction.
It generally has more unique ways of teaching someone a lesson
17) Is there anything else you’d like to talk about that I didn’t cover?
Not neccisarily

1) Tell a little bit about what kind of stories you generally are interested in. This can include settings, genre, themes, ect.
It varies. Also its probably worth mentioning I like at least try a story regardless of it's genre otherwise I miss discovering some new it turns out I do like. Something which is is quite previlant in my liking of a story though is a (well crafted) female protagonist and some TLC.
2) Do you have any preference’s regarding the sort of main character the story features? (this can include age, gender, sexuality, personality type.)
Hmm, I guess none of those factors matter so much as the main character simply being likeable and hopefully believable enough for the story to be immersive.
3) Are there any general things authors do that you find make a story much more enjoyable for you, regardless of setting/genre?
Surprising me. Creativity is an asset to ant story weaver but since I do feel diaper fiction can become a little repeatitive at times, original plot is a enjoyable for me. Er... though that may come under setting/genre?
Alternitively then I always like to read about what I see as the ultimate loss of control, diaper messing. It doesn't have to be graphic, I'm not into scat, I just think it's pure submission.
4) Are there any specific elements or situations you really love to see in a diaper story?
Cuteness. I like when the protagonist isn't allowed to dress themselves and becomes a baby doll.
[note: it'll finish answering these questions another time. cool thread.]

1) Tell a little bit about what kind of stories you generally are interested in. This can include settings, genre, themes, ect.
I'm usually drawn to more fantastical settings- sci-fi, fantasy, historical. I like stories that have a sort of 'tongue-in-cheek'ness; the characters treat everything seriously, but the writer(s) understands it's all little silly.
2) Do you have any preference’s regarding the sort of main character the story features? (this can include age, gender, sexuality, personality type.)
I like guys in diapers; its a shame the diaper fetish is so dominated by girls getting padded, I love a solidly-written male/male diaper story. I can enjoy a huge variety of character types, but I suppose my ideal diaper protagonist would be a grown man who's rather cocky and arrogant.
3) Are there any general things authors do that you find make a story much more enjoyable for you, regardless of setting/genre?
Adding in multiple characters getting diapered, and a strong plot that isn't just 'x happens, then y, now he's in diapers' is always a pleasure.
4) Are there any specific elements or situations you really love to see in a diaper story?
Forced diapering and humiliation- I love the idea of a character having an accident in their pants and being dominated by another.
5) Are there any common story elements that you dislike or feel squeamish about?
I would agree that extreme torture isn't my cup of tea.
6) Is there anything that author’s do that generally makes it hard for you to enjoy a story, regardless of genre/setting?
Yes, a character ending up diapered without any setup is awful, as is having characters acting very stiffly and blandly.
7) Just in general, how important do you think spelling and grammar are to a stories quality?
Extremely! A story should be well-written, although I understand that nobody's a perfect speller all the time.
8) Are there any commonly used diaper fiction story features (these can include settings, setups, plot devices, or characters) that you really hate or have just gotten sick of, and if so why? (please list different features separately).
Yup, again, characters having accidents/being diapered with insufficient set-up is no fun. There are also so many cliched responses to diaperings and such
9) On the other side, are there any commonly used diaper fiction story features that you really enjoy, and if so why?
The classic of a character resisting being diapered and being humiliated by his new-found 'caretakers' is still a lot of fun.
10) Are there any diaper story cliché’s that you consider guilty pleasures?
I suppose the same as the answer to the above question.
11) Name a story that you think is an example of a cliché done well.
N/A
12) Spread awareness of good writing in general, recommend a really good story (preferably one that hasn’t already been recommended, but then again multiple votes are a good demonstration of a stories quality.)
The works of lionstories from FurAffinity.net are excellent examples of well-written, erotic, m/m diaper stories. The world is a better place because of him.
13) Do you have a favorite author? (note, if you happen to be an author you can use yourself, but it will be kinda tacky).
Not really.
14) Do you have any questions regarding the storytelling conventions of diaper fiction that you don’t understand or are unsure about? (please list each question separately)
Why are anime/manga/cartoon characters so popular here? Compared to other fetishes, which use Original Characters or are fanfics of movies and television, diaper-fics seem to go hand in hand with knowing a lot about anime and such.

) Tell a little bit about what kind of stories you generally are interested in. This can include settings, genre, themes, ect.
I'm all for super powers, pokemon, bleach type stuff. I prefer stories where a bond is formed between two people.
2) Do you have any preference’s regarding the sort of main character the story features? (This can include age, gender, sexuality, personality type.)
Female all the way. Yuri
3) Are there any general things authors do that you find make a story much more enjoyable for you, regardless of setting/genre?
As long as they keep the story realistic. I remember reading a story once on a different site where this girl was mad at her mom about being in diapers so she drank an entire bottle of laxatives. I mean, really? Congratulations, you just killed your character.
4) Are there any specific elements or situations you really love to see in a diaper story?
Forced Diapering as a punishment as long as it stays a secret between the two. Diapered for medical reasons as long as they are not fully incontinent. Perhaps they just have a weak bladder and need to wear some kind of protection just in case and the character is very embarrassed about it.
5) Are there any common story elements that you dislike or feel squeamish about?
Where the character is like "Ohh let's have a diaper filling contest." ....lets not. I also don't like humiliation where one person is like look at this sissy baby and everyone joins in to humiliate the person. I prefer the diapering to stay between the two or three people, I think getting a diaper changed is embarrassment enough.
Furries. Enough said.
6) Is there anything that author’s do that generally makes it hard for you to enjoy a story, regardless of genre/setting?
If the stories not going anywhere.
7) Just in general, how important do you think spelling and grammar are to a stories quality?
as long as it's not completely horrible, it doesn't bother me that much. The whole thing with their, there, they're I totally understand, but when just a jumbled mess where you can't even tell what's being said then I have a problem.
8) Are there any commonly used diaper fiction story features (these can include settings, setups, plot devices, or characters) that you really hate or have just gotten sick of, and if so why? (please list different features separately).
1. I'm not a fan of males in diapers, and I'm especially not a fan of them being sissified.
2. Yaoi. What has been seen cannot be unseen...
9) On the other side, are there any commonly used diaper fiction story features that you really enjoy, and if so why?
Regression for the purpose to re-raise.
10) Are there any diaper story clichés that you consider guilty pleasures?
Potty chairs. they're embarrassing and juvenile and portable!
11) Name a story that you think is an example of a cliché done well.
skip.
12) Spread awareness of good writing in general. Recommend a really good story (preferably one that hasn’t already been recommended, but then again multiple votes are a good demonstration of a stories quality.)
I like Mistresses "Coast to Coast Exchange"
13) Do you have a favorite author? (note, if you happen to be an author you can use yourself, but it will be kinda tacky).
Hmm, I'd probably have to say ShanaTan. I enjoy the bonds she creates with her characters.
14) Do you have any questions regarding the storytelling conventions of diaper fiction that you don’t understand or are unsure about? (Please list each question separately)
Furies...why?

1) Tell a little bit about what kind of stories you generally are interested in. This can include settings, genre, themes, ect.
Hard to say. Its more there are some things that I don't like which will be covered below.
2) Do you have any preference’s regarding the sort of main character the story features? (this can include age, gender, sexuality, personality type.)
Not a full adult, though this is only a mild preference.
3) Are there any general things authors do that you find make a story much more enjoyable for you, regardless of setting/genre?
The more description of the diaper scenes the better. Some authors simply don't put in enough detail.
4) Are there any specific elements or situations you really love to see in a diaper story?
Once a character is in diapers, they have to use them for all intended purposes. Some respondents don't like messy diapers. I don't like it when characters never have to poop or get to use the toilet for that instead.
5) Are there any common story elements that you dislike or feel squeamish about?
excessive humiliation/harm. Making someone permanently incontinent (temporarily is less of an issue)
This one isn't common, but having the diapered character be instructed by the nanny to announce when they need to be changed or ask to be changed. I prefer it when the nanny
checks them and decides to change them based on weather or not they need it
6) Is there anything that author’s do that generally makes it hard for you to enjoy a story, regardless of genre/setting?
Story taking too long to start up is an issue for me. Example: In for a penni took at least 10 chapters. edit: (I skipped them and it didn't really matter)
Lack of description of diaper scenes as another one
Cloth diapers
Also, if the story is pitched as realistic fiction, it needs to feel physically realistic. EG, a typical nursery wouldn't have diapers that fit a 6 year old on hand for no reason.
7) Just in general, how important do you think spelling and grammar are to a stories quality?
If I can read it without straining my mind, its good enough. It doesn't have to be perfect
8) Are there any commonly used diaper fiction story features (these can include settings, setups, plot devices, or characters) that you really hate or have just gotten sick of, and if so why? (please list different features separately).
Excessive harm/humiliation. I don't like reading it.
9) On the other side, are there any commonly used diaper fiction story features that you really enjoy, and if so why?
Characters coming to enjoy being cared for.
10) Are there any diaper story cliché’s that you consider guilty pleasures?
supernatural regression devices eg a raygun that de-ages people
11) Name a story that you think is an example of a cliché done well.
"Tails back in diapers" by blacknightwing of deviantart
It starts off with a babysitter coming, but its a really good story.
edit: I take that statement back and fill now guilty about writing it.
12) Spread awareness of good writing in general, recommend a really good story (preferably one that hasn’t already been recommended, but then again multiple votes are a good demonstration of a stories quality.)
"Tails back in diapers" by blacknightwing of deviantart Its really well thought out. Edit: I take that back, if you look closely enough its abusive and its full of plot holes. I'll write a review to explain and link it later.
My new shout out is:
https://abdlstoryforum.info/forum/st...-happy-summers
Not because its a "favorite" as far as my preferences are concerned eg it has cloth diapers in it. I feel its worthy of recommendation because of how much thought the author put into making a story about teens being forcibly regressed be believable without having them be physically harmed eg spanked until they cooperated. This is stated early in the story that harming the "children" will not be tolerated but the way they forcibly regress teenagers doesn't leave gaping plot holes that are unusually filled with fear and threats of violence.
13) Do you have a favorite author? (note, if you happen to be an author you can use yourself, but it will be kinda tacky).
Unsure
14) Do you have any questions regarding the storytelling conventions of diaper fiction that you don’t understand or are unsure about? (please list each question separately)
none
15) Do you have any answers to a previous respondents questions? (please specify who you’re responding to)
@ enmano:
I enjoy art of both human characters and 'furries' so I'll try to answer this
There can be a few different reasons:
I personally have to see a character as being human like (EG Sonic or Tails) rather then animal like (EG A real world fox) to consider them for this
Sometimes a character who's human like mentally but not physically adds an air of fantasy to a story. This can allow one's suspension of disbelief to travel further. EG I can see Tails being stuck in a nursery machine like this:
http://diaperedanime.com/gallery/sho...achine/cat/500
because the technology of his world is advanced enough for something like that to exist
Some 'diaper lovers' also enjoy fiction media where such characters are common, and the two aspects blur together to create stories about those characters in those people's minds
Of course, everyone is different so someone else might have a different view.
Both of those
17) Is there anything else you’d like to talk about that I didn’t cover?

1) Tell a little bit about what kind of stories you generally are interested in. This can include settings, genre, themes, ect.
I'm really in love with fluffy and cute stories. I'm a sappy person,I need fluff to thrive xD I'm also a sucker for funny, comedic stories.
2) Do you have any preference’s regarding the sort of main character the story features? (this can include age, gender, sexuality, personality type.)
Guys. Guys all the way. I'm with Lihocan on this,it's kinda sad that there's so many stories and stuff about girls being diapered than anything else. But I can go either way.
Personality-wise,I really love cheerful characters that see a bright side to everything. Shy and reclusive characters too, they give me the blushu ^\\\\\^
Nothing else really matters as long as the character isn't A),underage (at least over 13 for me), or B),a complete bitch/Mary Sue. But I do have a thing for tsunderes...
3) Are there any general things authors do that you find make a story much more enjoyable for you, regardless of setting/genre?
I like it when the characters interact in all sorts of cute,caretaker-like ways. But other than that, nothing really.
4) Are there any specific elements or situations you really love to see in a diaper story?
COMFORTING. LOTS OF COMFORTING AND FLUFF. Oh yeah and comedic banter between the diapered character and the "caretaker" character.
Adult Baby themes? Immediate HELL YES.
5) Are there any common story elements that you dislike or feel squeamish about?
Hypermessing. Just the mention of it is enough to make me nope out and slam the back button. Also turning other, unwilling characters into diapers-and promptly using them.
6) Is there anything that author’s do that generally makes it hard for you to enjoy a story, regardless of genre/setting?
When the story takes way too long to get to the diapering. Obviously.
In fanfiction, characters that become extremely OOC.
Let's use Luigi as an example. He's normally shy and soft in-character,so reading a story where Luigi is/becomes an exhibitionist/secretly likes seeing his big bro desperate??? Nope. If you're going to change a character's personality,at least try to keep shades of their original personality.
7) Just in general, how important do you think spelling and grammar are to a stories quality?
ABSOLUTELY EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. If your story is pretty much a brick of text or line breaks galore, this makes me not want to even look at the title. Grammar/spelling is a HUGE plus-I do have Grammar Nazi tendencies..
8) Are there any commonly used diaper fiction story features (these can include settings, setups, plot devices, or characters) that you really hate or have just gotten sick of, and if so why? (please list different features separately).
Forced messing. *shivers*
9) On the other side, are there any commonly used diaper fiction story features that you really enjoy, and if so why?
Age regression, especially to infant/newborn age. It's just cute.
10) Are there any diaper story cliché’s that you consider guilty pleasures?
Mental regression...*blush*
11) Name a story that you think is an example of a cliché done well.
Haven't really read any mental regression fics lately so I don't know any.
12) Spread awareness of good writing in general, recommend a really good story (preferably one that hasn’t already been recommended, but then again multiple votes are a good demonstration of a stories quality.)
"The Amazingly Spectacular Adventures of Dr. SCIENCE",it's funny and a nice read if you like situations where a character wets and doesn't realize.
13) Do you have a favorite author? (note, if you happen to be an author you can use yourself, but it will be kinda tacky).
Hmmm...Too many. :3
14) Do you have any questions regarding the storytelling conventions of diaper fiction that you don’t understand or are unsure about? (please list each question separately)
Nah.
15) Do you have any answers to a previous respondents questions? (please specify who you’re responding to)
@AB Avery-Actually flip that around, female diaper works are a fuckton more common than male diaper works.
16) Is there anything you really enjoy about diaper fiction that you don’t generally see much of in other sorts of fiction.
Like I said earlier,comedic banter.
17) Is there anything else you’d like to talk about that I didn’t cover?
Fanfiction that's so well-written and all around amazing it makes you go "I'm not even in this fandom but I love it."
Crossover fics are a tricky one for me. I'm pretty okay with this as long as the crossover feels believable. Like if you're gonna do a Five Nights at Freddy's crossover fic,at least do it with another video game.
