Diapers in the Eye of the Beholder [Private RP]
This in particular, is a private thread for myself and Livingbylies. You're quite invited to read along.
Josephine Sinclair finally dropped back onto a couch. She'd spent her time chasing rug rats while her boyfriend was working on his newest project. Well, their newest project. Sitting down, she was slumped down in exhaustion. The toddler, his niece Annie, was slumped over in the play pen in a similar fashion, curled up for her nap. Jo brushed the hair from her eyes, and looked around just for a moment. "Hey hon, how's the project coming along? You think we can take a vacation?" It was a silly question, considering the nature of the science project itself, but there wasn't anything wrong with a good joke.
She glanced to a nearby mirror, and grinned. Teal eyes with mahogany brown hair. For the time being, it was pulled back into a pony tail to avoid a mess that so often followed with working with toddlers. For today, she'd chosen something simple, a plain white tee that sheltered the contours of her upper body, and a pair of jeans.

"Just... about... done!" Daniel called back. "Just... gotta... get this... thing... oh fuck." There was a loud crash as he dropped a particularly heavy lens. "Shit." He picked it up, looking it over and shrugging. Oh well, looks ok to me... lifting it into place, locking it in position. "Got it, we're all set." Rolling the device into the room. "And how are my two favorite girls doing?"
"Otay!" Annie said, lisping a bit and smiling. "We wa pwaying!"
Daniel smiled. "Let's get this puppy going." He flicked the power, and it whirred to life. "Got some stuff to test it on, Joey?" He asked, excited about getting the device going.

Jo was more than pleased while Daniel called back to her. Well... sort of. The terminology "Oh fuck" wasn't really terminology that people would want to hear in regards to a science experiment. The device itself rolled in, and it certainly made an interesting appearance. Jo rose again from the couch, and reached down into the play pen to withdraw Annie. Balancing the toddler on her hip, she stepped up to the machine.
"Course I do, Danny. What kinds of things do we need, exactly?" It was difficult to understand just what it was that he'd been looking for, so her bag had any number of things to check out. "How about a trip to the beach? We'll make sure it works, and then the three of us can take a 'trip'!" Excluding the little girl wouldn't be nice, but then again... It was untested technology.

"Just a couple of objects. A paperweight and a computer mouse, maybe, or an apple and an orange." He grinned at the suggestion of a beach trip, though. "That sounds awesome. Do we have Annie's swim diapers here, or should we pick some up on the way there?" That was Danny, always planning two steps ahead for whatever they were doing.
Annie didn't really know what the device was, but she knew what a beach was. "Yay! Beach twip! Beach twip!" She declared, happily. Daniel smiled warmly at her enthusiasm.
Grabbing some fruit from a bowl, he set it up on the counter. "Just flick the switch on the side and it'll run."

"So it's time for a quick test run, before we get Annie prepped," Jo inquired gently, before kissing the toddler's cheek and setting the toddler away from machine to begin with. Gently into the play pen with her toys, of course. "Swim diapers are a problem with a virtual trip to the beach?" Jo was flabbergasted with the idea... Since the sensation of water wasn't necessarily an issue.
"Flip the switch? Of course, I'd be happy to!" She sauntered pleasantly to the machine from the play pen, and began to motion like Vanna from the Wheel of Fortune. A grin and a wink to her benevolent boyfriend, and instantly, she flipped the switch, waiting instantly on baited breath.

David shrugged. "We could always project it, I just don't want her thinking she's all wet, taking off her diaper, and peeing on the carpet. Besides, I fdon't want to try projecting clothes right away." Standing back, the lens projected a bit, there was a whirr, and a loud buzz of electricity. The apple on the counter blinked, and was suddenly an orange. And then an apple again. And then the counter vanished, before reappearing as an orange, before the machine sparked and stabilized.
The effect was surprisingly good. David would have never believed it was an apple if he didn't know better. The room seemed to have shifted a bit with a slight orange hue, but a tiny glitch like that was understandable.
Annie had fallen asleep, but David grinned. "It worked! Let's go get some swim gear and have a virtual vacation, okay?" He beamed.

Jo was pretty confused for a moment, though it seemed that Danny knew just what it was to expect from the whole operation of the machinery. The apple into an orange... and then it was normal again. Then it came to the table top. Why was that an orange to boot? And then suddenly... the room itself seemed tinted.
"Is that something to worry about?" she inquired, looking about the room with its orange-like hue. Danny didn't seem to worry much on the whole ordeal, which made her grin. A baby monitor turned on, and even now, she smiled. "Remember, separate changing rooms." A wink, and a grin, before grabbing a hold of her bag. She had her bathing suit on hand, considering the briefing she'd receive about the project prior.

Daniel shrugged. "It's just a little bug. A tiny bit of orange feedback from projecting the apple into an orange. The calibration is probably just a tad out of focus, no biggie. I'll fix it after we run down to the shop, I want to get some new goggles anyways." He smiled. The project worked perfectly, and they had a free mini-vacation just as soon asthey got swim ddiapers for Annie. He wondered what her parents would think when Annie told them about their 'beach trip.'
Grabbing a handful of loose cash off the counter, not bothering with his wallet, he said, "Its just a block away, we can walk."

Jo nodded a little. Adjustments to come, after a trip to the shop, it had become a thought there. "Oh, right. We have to get Annie's diapers," the girl blinked, dropping the bag. "We can't leave her here, of course." The young woman dropped her bag casually, knowing the shop to be more important in this case. She carefully removed the toddler, so as to not jostle her from her nap. The stroller was sitting on the patio, of course.
"A nice little walk so we can go on our trip," Jo smiled, sitting the girl carefully into the stroller, and taking the customary place behind it. "Alright, Danny. I think we're about ready." They were going to the market for things anyhow. If something came up, they'd buy it there.

Daniel smiled, locking the door behind them as ythey strolled it. "Yeah, the lens just got bumped out of place would be my guess. Not a problem." He strolled along excitedly, eager to get to the store and back to test out their invention in a more entertaining fashion than free citrus fruits. Meandering, we waved at some neighbors, who waved back a bit un surely for some reason, as though he was out of place somehow. "We need to get the kind that hold all kinds of accidents, right? I hear Annie has been having trouble potty training."
