Dick and Bruce (Private: Slight and Diaperbuttwannabe)

"Mary and Josh, huh?" Bruce replied. He was a dull sort of man-- but his imagination did prick with wonder. What if the kid could speak to elephants? --or perhaps it was written somewhere and his detective eyes hadn't caught it? "Do they have last names?" he added with a smile. "What are they telling you-- I'm afraid I don't speak... elephant...ese?" It was his attempt at a Joke. Oh Bruce! Why did he have to be so DRY?! He'd get better at this kid stuff... but it was going to take a little bit. Placing his hands on his knees, he crouched down to be beside Dick.

"They're elephants. They don't have last names," He said shrugging. He then turned to them, speaking to them again.

Repressing a smirk, he enjoyed the confident way Dick dismissed the notion of elephants having last names. "They don't? Well, I suppose that shows you how often I speak to elephants. Quite a talent you have," he praised, squatting next to Dick as he minded the elephants.
He allowed Dick to remain as long as he wished. They'd done their clothing shopping-- really, they could have gone toy shopping, but that would come a little later. He'd gotten the boy a few things already. He wanted to see how the boy played on his own before he tried to guess what Dick might want.

Dick smiled, after about five minutes getting up saying, "Ok, I'm ready. Let's go."

Bruce straightened and stood with a stretch. "Is there anything else here you want to see? I hear there's a pretty good Bengal tiger exhibit," he tempted the boy. "Or maybe we could see if there's a memento at the gift shop?" He really did hope they had stuffed elephants... It seemed fitting for the kid to have one... or two.

"We could go see the tigers," Dick suggested, blushing. He gave the elephants, one big wave good bye, before falling Bruce.

(You know he already has a stuffed elephant right? Haly)

[ Forgetful mun is forgetful. <v<; but~ I imagine Bruce would be the sort to materialistically dote on a kid.]

"Tigers, hmm?" He replied. He was glad Dick seemed to like the idea. Straightening, he set into pace for the tiger exhibit. The only thing that delayed him was a little hot dog stand. Smirking, he offered the kid a little snack. "So? Feeling hungry yet? Or maybe we should hold out and find a nice place up town?" Whether or not Dick would enjoy the fine dining sorts of places he frequented remained to be seen. It was difficult to beat Alfred's cooking. Every once and a while he did eat on the run... Even Alfred needed a break now and then!

"Sure," He said smiling at Bruce, giggling happily. He was in a good mood.

Bruce ordered a pair of hot dogs, letting the vender load them up with whatever he felt was the best condiments for hot dogs. By the time he'd finished doctoring them up, they looked a little hazardous in the drippage department. "Hmm... Maybe we should sit down by the tigers to eat?" he offered. Rather than giving Dick a choice, he carried the dogs over to a bench in front of the Bengal exhibit and seated himself. Patting the bench beside him, he allowed the boy to get comfy before he handed him the frank. "Alright! These are... authentic zoo hot dogs, so I hope they're as good as they look." Ignoring his hot dog for the time being, he shook out a napkin and tucked it into the collar of Dick's shirt. No sense in letting him make ketchup art of his shirt!

Dick blushed at the napkin, but sat by him, taking a big bite out of his dog. "MMM," He said happy, getting it all over his face.
