The End of a Journey (w/Pyrogue)
Ash sighed as he sat in the lobby of the Pokemon League, his head buried in his arms. He had just lost to his life-long rival, Gary Oak, in the finals of the championship. After all of his training, all of his travelling, he thought he had a chance. But no such luck. Gary had made short work of him in their battle, with Ash only managing to take down two of his Pokemon.
The black-haired boy quickly looked up as the announcer spoke up over the speaker, announcing Gary as the new champion.
"So he did it... He beat me, then the champion..." Ash mumbled to himself. He was about to get up and leave before his phone rang.

Ash reluctantly picked up his phone. "Ashy! How ya doing?" He said in his usual cocky voice. Before Ash could answer Gary began talking again. "Listen, I'm proud of ya for making the league, so I was thinking how we go and celebrate how far you've come?" He said

"Uh... Sure." Ash answered in a somewhat surprised tone. He wasn't expecting Gary to be so sportsman-like over winning. He had expected a lot of gloating, but he was glad that Gary seemed to be a respectful winner. After the call ended he went to Gary's house for the party he expected.

"Heh heh, sucker" Gary chuckled as he hung up. Gary left to make the necessary preparations for this "party"

Ash arrived at the house, knocking on the door. He was a bit confused as Gary opened the door and no one else was inside. Shouldn't he have his fans stroking his ego at his own party?
"Was I early? I can go outside and wait if you don't really want to talk..." Ash offered.

"Oh no, please come in" Gary said with a malicious smirk. Ash being as naive as he was blindly accepted the offer

Ash nodded, taking his shoes off and sitting on the couch in the living room.
'Wow, Gary is loaded...' He thought to himself as he examined all of the expensive decor and furniture inside of the house. Why did this guy even need to be champion?
"So, um.... Congrats on winning." Ash told the brunette, trying not to sound envious.

"Oh thank you so much" he said with an egotistical smile. "So tell me Ashy, how long did your journey take you?" He asked

"Umm..." Ash had to ponder the question. It had been quite a long time for sure... "Maybe around a year?" He replied, still unsure about his answer. "Why?" He asked.

"Tsk, took me only 6 months to be the champion" he smirked. "Tell me, how many pokemon did you catch?"
