Exchange Student Needs A Change (for Ryuko Matoi)

"I understand, Victoria. I am sorry, we will get back to it later, fine?" Melinda answered with a soft smile. She led the young woman out and down the street. It was a perfect little suborbian neighborhood, traditional and calm. They passed by an old lady sitting near her house, a company of kids throwing frisbee... and a woman around Melinda's age, who was carrying the strollers with a girl looking roughly about 18 years old, wearing the onsie. Melinda seemed to know everyone, waving at them, smiling and greeting them as they walked.

Vicky abruptly stopped upon seeing the girl. She was a smart girl, and connected the dots very quickly. "That. Will I end up like that" she asks, in a grim tone, pointing at the girl. "Cause if so, I will be out of here before sundown" she adds swiftly.

[Jinchu]

Melinda sighed. "Let's discuss that at the restoraunt, shall we? You won't loose anything if you'll eat, ok? I will pay for the lunch if you've changed your mind already about this matter." As they walked, she continued in a soft, calmng tone. "You see, Victoria, here we belive that in certain matters girls grow slower - or they are supposed to grow slower. I know in the other parts many people will call that appropirate only for toddlers, but here girls are considered "toddlers", if you please, untill they are around 25. Yes, before you ask, I lived like that too, and everyone I know. You will still recive your education and everything, by the way, but we have certain idea about the lifestyle appropirate and needed for a girl of your age. You'll see every girl in teh college lives the same."
they reached teh little cosy restoraunt with a big wooden sign "Mommy's Soup" above the doors. It looked very nice and pretty normal, save for high baby chair of different sizes, in which the girls of all ages were sitting.

She stopped before the entrance. "Let me be, VERY clear about this. And I mean VERY clear. I'm 20. I'm mostly self raised. And I can do fine on my own. And if that's what it takes to get this education, then I am not doing that." she said in a calm, yet firm way.

[Jinchu]

"I've heard you, Victoria" Melinda answered in the same calm voice, looking up at her eyes. "You surely realise I cannot force you to anything. You coul proabbly snap my neck if you wished to. What if we sit here, eat some soup, and it's great here, and discuss our situation? You seem tough, so you surely are not afraid of me. I don't see why not have a chat then."

"Fine." she said sternly, as she sat down at a table in a normal chair.

[Jinchu]

Victoria was clearly frowned upon for doing that, both by the staff and the visitors. Melinda smiled to them as she was apologizing and sat by the girl's side, quickly asking teh waitress for two portions of mama's special soup.

"Ok, Victoria, I've been teh host for students before and i know the details. If you refuse to be an exchange studnet here, you also loose your place in your own university, no loans returned to you. It sounds harsh, and I do not approve it, but it's true, you can check by yourself. You won;t be able to visit the lectures here whilde acting and dressing like this - it's like you went naked to your regular calssroom. On the other hand, I promise to take good care of you. You'll be surprised how little you actually loose. Belive me or nor, most of teh students Ive looked after before you refretted leaving our town. It all seems unusual to you, I know, but I am sure you realise atht new and unusual doesn't always mean bad. I can guarantee no photos or anything like taht will leak innteh outer world while you're here, so it won't affect your future... as opposite to loosing your cahnce for good education."

"Why the fuck is this place so renowned then. It better be a really good school..." she said quietly.

[Jinchu]

"It is good. Belive it or not, many professors adore our lifestyle, so the local university has some of teh best minds in the country. And do not swear, please." Melinda frowned a bit.

Their meals arrived soon. Two big bowls with hot, very delightfully smelling soup were putten on teh table. "Enjoy your meal, sugar" Melinda smiled, atking the spoon. "It's worth going all teh way here."

She sighs, for now focussing on her food. She was deep in thought. Eventually she looked at her. "Look... I don't have much of a choice here. I fucked up with my last university... kicked a guy's teeth in. I'm running out of options here..." she said, her eyes a bit distant.
