Burnish and then Shanara are able to get close enough to the upstairs room to see that the room has furniture like the other floors had, but the ones in here are slightly nicer. On the other side of the room is a large double door that is closed. They find that there is 2 elves wielding two hand crossbows, one elf with a wolf, and an elf in a green robe. However was Cetishil makes her way to the others, the hand crossbow elves and the wolf notice her and instantly scramble.

(Roll Initiate. That would have worked too if only Burnish or Shanara or the both of them went ahead to scout.)

The elf in green robe will get right next to the wall (It'll take 70 ft. of movement to get to to him from where you are at now. He will spend 2 spell points to affect all of you with an effect that makes you all sleepy. (All of you make a DC 15 will save or you are put to sleep for 4 minutes. Targets who take damage automatically wake up, and other creatures may wake a sleeping creature as a standard action. If you are immune to it then just state it and don't roll.)

The elf with the wolf will try to order his wolf to attack (Handle Animal: (19) + 8 = 27). He will then set up to use Covering Fire on anyone who rushes the elf in the green robe to attack him.

The wolf will charge to attack Shanara as she's the closest that the beast is comfortable attacking. (Attack: (6) + 5 = 11.)

The first elf with 2 hand crossbows (Hand crossbower A for this combat to help not confuse) will move within 30 ft. of Shanara and then scout them. (Perception: (4) + 4 = 8, fail.) She will then attack her even though she's in a melee with the wolf. (Attack 1: (Nat 1). Attack 2: (13) + 2 = 15, Damage: (2) + 1 = 3.)

The second elf with 2 hand crossbows (Or Hand crossbower B for this combat.) will move within 30. ft of Shanara and tell the party in common "Surrender now and we'll let you go. Just drop your weapons and we'll stop attacking you." She will then repeat what Hand Crossower A did this turn. (Perception on Shanara: (10) + 4 = 14, fail. Attack 1 on Shanara: (19) + 2 =21, Crit Confirm: (10) + 2 = 12, Damage: (1) + 1 = 2. Attack 2 on Shanara: (Nat 20), Crit Confirm: (4) + 2 = 6. Damage: (4) + 1 = 5.)

Shanara was far too excited about finally finding a stronghold of these elves to worry about sleep. She shrugged off the spell, beak lashing out for the wolf that scrabbled uselessly at her superimposed bird form.

Burnish blinked when he felt magic around him, but then nothing happened.

"How about you surrender to us?" Burnish asked as he flew over to position himself such that Crossbowers A and B were in a line from him. He then used his breath weapon to fire a burst of flame.
