According to an article in Men's Health magazine (online version) one in six people have a fetish ->
http://www.menshealth.com/sex-women/extreme-fetishes. Debra W. Soh, a neuroscientist says that fetishes are actually common. The article further states that the Journal of Sex Research ->
http://www.sexscience.org/resources/..._sex_research/ has recently reported that one in three people have tried a fetish at some point in their lives. In her scientific work evaluating people using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging or fMRI ->
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Functi...onance_imaging (Involves performing brain scans and measurements of brain activity by detecting changes associated with the flow of blood within), she has found that many people have some kind of fetish including "Diaperism" - That's the layman's term that she used. I guess that she used it to encompass "Paraphilic Infantilism" ->
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paraphilic_infantilism for the ARs, ABs and ABDLs and "Diaper Fetishism" ->
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diaper_fetishism for the pure DLs (Those peeps that have no desire to pretend to be a baby but enjoy wearing diapers for possibly extended periods of time). I found that everything that she says in the section "Diaperism: Why Are Some People Into That?" (Scroll down in the article) holds true for many different people within our community:
ARDLs/ABDLs/DLs ...
"[are] turned on by how it feels to wear diapers and soil them." (Note: "Soil" can mean urinate and/or defecate, not just defecate).
ARs/ABs/ARDLs/ABDLs ...
"incorporate ... child-like items, such as rattles, baby bottles, and stuffed animals, into their lifestyles."
"[For active enthusiasts] Pretending to be a baby reminds these guys[/gals] of a time when life was much easier ..."
One of her studies' participants says that "It’s soothing to have someone take care of me." and wears diapers while masturbating and fantasizes about being treated like a baby. This might sound familiar to many of us! What does this all mean for us? Well for such an article to appear in such a widely read magazine, it may mean that our fetish is becoming even more visible in the eyes if the World and perhaps there will be more positive acceptance as it becomes even more and more common as time goes on! So rejoice! Someday, you may not be considered a "Weirdo" by others for having your fetish since it may be possible that it will someday be so common that most people will have one - Would that then make the people who don't have a fetish the weird ones? What are your thoughts on the matter? Please let us know!
