Fire Emblem: Past and Future Bonds (Private)

"Alright, that sounds- wait, what?!" Severa seemed shocked again, quickly realizing what her woman meant as she painfully sat up, pulled the skirt back, and saw the saggy, discolored, and stinky undergarment. The girl, now both frustrated and embarrassed at seeing this, lied back down and grabbed her pillow, picking it up and pressing it on her face hard as she started to scream and curse in mumbles.

"Severa, don't move so suddenly!" Cordelia exclaimed in surprise, dropping the shaker of baby powder she had just picked moments earlier up as the teenager jolted up in bed. Rushing back over to her side to lay her back down, her (somewhat annoyed) concern quickly morphed into pity as Severa yelled into her pillow. It was completely reasonable for her to be so angry about this situation...but screaming and throwing a tantrum about it wasn't going to help anything in the long run.

Waiting for a lull in the muffled expletives so the diapered teenager could catch her breath, her mother placed another hand on her shoulder to provide some assurance and let her know that she was there. "There's no reason to get mad at yourself about this dear. It's just something you coudn't help..." She said, trying to sound understanding. "What's important is that we focus on getting you through this."

After the girl was finished with this and felt the hand of her mother gently placed upon her shoulder, she took the pillow off of her face and looked to her. As expected, she looked red-hot, her face pink from screaming and her nostrils still flaring. But, strangely enough, there was something else. For a split second, the woman could see the morphing from fully-concentrated anger to absolute sadness, her facial muscles relaxing as her eyes glimmered and filled with tears. But before she could go any further with showing how she felt, she laid back down and shoved the pillow over her face again, moaning and hiding her true feelings with another pissed-off, usual display.

Even if it was just for a moment, the woman's heart still melted when she saw the gimmer of tears in Severa's eyes before she turned away and his herself with the pillow again. There was no way she was about to just forget about that look that told more about her daughter's feelings on this situation than everything she'd said about it in the last few days.
Letting her maternal instincts take over, Cordelia leaned over and gently lifted the girl (taking care not to mush around the mess in her diaper) so that her upper-half was now resting in her lap, pillow face and all. Then, she wrapped her arms around the distraught child and gave her a warm hug.

"Sweetie, I understand that you must be scared, annoyed and confused by all of this...But you don't have to face all these changes on your own. I honestly don't know about the horrible world you must have come from, but you aren't alone anymore. Whether you like it or not, I'm your mother; and I'm here for you. I want to help you dear. There's no pride in turning away the people that love you." She said sincerely, keeping the girl with her face in the pillow close while she spoke.

Severa didn't cover her ears during this, so she heard everything the woman said. Part of her wanted to cover herself up more... but as she listened, she grew more emotional, a sight the woman couldn't see. The woman was really the only one truly successful in cracking through her stubborn shell, though really it was more like chipping away piece by piece. The two had shared emotional moments before, but it was nothing to make the girl admit everything about herself and her past life. It was mostly stories of herself being on the battlefields on her own as a mercenary... but she usually gave little to no details of the jealousy she felt towards Chrom in considering that it seemed she gained more attention from her own mother than she did... the bitterness she felt from not being able to live up to the ridiculous expectations of such a seemingly perfect woman... and, of course, her death.

All of this came back into mind, and all of it came flooding back to her. She still didn't want the woman to see, however, so she kept the pillow pressed against her face... but now, she couldn't take it anymore, remembering all of that shame and fear she felt just from a few of the woman's words and the close position she was in now. So she started to cry softly, trying to press it in harder to muffle the sound out as much as she could.

Despite her efforts to the contrary, it was pretty obvious that Severa had burst into tears behind her pillow. Her mother had been somewhat expecting a reaction like this, so she simply cuddled the poor little thing closer and began to soothingly rub her back as a way to help calm her a little. " It's okay honey...Let it all out...That's it...I'm right here, okay? Mama's right here for you..." She cooed lovingly, letting the child cry herself out in her arms. While it was clear that she had a lot of emotions built up inside her, Cordelia still wasn't quite sure what they were. She didn't know about Severa's feelings of jealously and inferiority towards her, as well as just how much it had hurt when she had left her daughter's life. But for now, she just comforted the crying girl the best she could.

The girl was now kicking herself with how the woman immediately knew that she was crying, not knowing that to just be another motherly instinct. So she just gave up trying to hide it and cried until eventually she tired herself out, moving her hands away from the pillow as she sniffle and convulsed with every breath.

Though eventually Severa's sobs calmed down and her tear-streaked face finally emerged from under pillow, the motherly knight only gave the sniffling teen a gentle smile; continuing to comfort her. Now that she wasn't holding the cushion, Cordelia cuddled her child up against her warm body, continuing to coo assurances to her until she was fully calmed down, or at least stable. Once her tears stopped, the woman moved her hand up and gently dried any stray ones that still remained on her cheeks. "Remember sweetie, I love you, and I'm here for whenever you need me. Don't think you have to deal with everything on your own..."

Severa just allowed a moment for the woman's words to sink again, silently looking up to her for a few seconds, before sniffling and looking away once more, not wanting to say another word during this whole exchange.

Whether or not her words made an impact on the teen, the woman had said all she wanted to say, giving Severa one last hug before laying her back down on the bed and standing back up. "Now just let me get you changed and I'll start on dinner. You'll be tasting that nice, juicy steak before you know it." She assured, gathering the changing materials yet again that she had dropped when the girl had her tantrum. Reaching under the bed, Cordelia grabbed a fresh diaper for her before laying out the towel she usually used as Severa's changing mat.
