Gray Future (For Silvertip)

It was far in the future of the world with pokemon. At this point, technology ruled over everything. Pollution was heavy and forest were a thing of the past. Now all one would see is tall, metal buildings, dark, gloomy clouds that threatened to constantly rain. It was difficult to tell if it was night or day because of those clouds.

So humans had basically had began to not care much for the environment again, or the pokemon in them. People rebelled and as did legendaries, but with human numbers so high, it was hard. With humans constantly adapting, they found ways to contain them or weaken them just to show was really on top here. Some pokemon even went against humans. Leaving their trainers, attacking random people on paths and so on. This lead to more things being done. Time kept going, cities grew and eventually, pokemon were basically lost and evil organizations started being seen as good guys now.

In the future, augmentations was a common thing for those who could manage to get their hands on them. Money or stealing. Pokemon battles were still a thing, but under strict regulations that made it so a trainer could risk their license and their pokemons' lives. Now you would likely only see them going on in underground events and as official sports. Needless to say, things were quite restricting.

And as you can imagine, with so many humans, there was multple people who didn't agree with this, but they were coping with it. However, then tyrannical leaders began to take over and started to shape things to be how they wanted them. Lets just keep it simple and say things were bad, real bad. The guy apparently hated pokemon and was just all sorts of greedy, inconsiderate of the people. Needless to say, with how things already were, resistances started popping up. They were by no means peaceful because at this point, people knew that being gentle just wasn't going to work. They needed to use force to get what they wanted.

Pokemon and trainers alike were on both sides of these civil wars. Augmentations were heavily used, but sometimes they came at a cost. Maybe a limb or an organ, maybe part of someone's mind. The most common one was someone's continence. Humans weren't suffering as much as pokemon were because these augmentations were primarily made for them at first and then pokemon later. Diapers, since they were still used, started being made for all pokemon who dealt with this issue.

One of the many resistances that was a more popular, but still under the radar, was the Gray Lances. Seeing public assaults from them was uncommon because they liked to operate in secrecy to avoid serious losses on a more common scale. They endorsed augmentations until it was a common thing to see in both pokemon and men. One of the high ranks in the places was a young man, twenty three years old, that went by the simple nickname of "Strider". He was augmented to have a high agility, making him able to have higher reflexes, run faster, jump higher and so on. Unfortunately, this came at a cost of his heart. Not keep his mod. charged could result in his heart stopping from him suffering from cardiac arrest. He had a Lopunny who he called "Hopper". She was unfortunately one of the many incontinent pokemon in this resistance, and she was easily embarrassed by it too. Her augmentation was strength. Together, these two handled hit and run operations very well.

At the moment, these two were about to go on a different kind of mission with some fellow team mates. Neither Strider or Hopper were serious people, but Strider tended to be quiet a lot of the time while Hopper was a lot more social.

Strider wore some simple equipment. A light vest under his thin, black jacket. His skin was a pale white and his eyes gray. He stood around five feet and a few inches, making him quite small. He wore simple running shoes black and white with jeans. Kneepads and elbow pads were on him for whenever he pulled off a slide of sorts. Oh, and he did have a backpack that carried a variety of things in it. His most iconic thing was that blank face mask he wore out on missions. It was a ballistic mask with elemental resistances, think eye lenses that were flash resistant and radio communications.

Meanwhile, Hopper was in her usual white diaper. She also wore some kind of black body suit with thin plating on it for protection. Then there was that short, white tattered scarf she wore. She also had a bandage wrapped around one of her ears.

At the moment, both of them were getting set up in their small portion of the abandoned subway base.

A skinny man in his late 20s and dressed in a t-shirt and jeans walked along the subway platform. Trash littered the long-abandoned station. A delirict subway carriage served as a bridge that connected the two platforms.

He pried open the door and stepped into the carriage. A Raticate chirped and bolted. He kicked aside a beer bottle and stepped through the destroyed door opposite the one he entered.

"Gimme your poké ball!" The man turned around to see a disheveled looking man who reeked of alcohol and urine. In one hand was a bottle of some cheap liquor. In the other was a rusted metal spike.

The man made a quick gesture and the would be mugger was suddenly tossed into metal beam. Before he could get up, a large cement block smashed itself into his face.

He rubbed his forehead. The man's telekinetic powers were not natural; he had undergone augmentation to gain them. This earned him the nickname "Sabrine"...a constructed masculinized form of Sabrina -- the Saffron City gym leader with tremendous natural psychic powers. The drawback to his implant was that he needed an external power source...which currently took the form of a black box occupying his belt next to his poké ball containing "Fafnir -- his Dragonite.

Like himself, Fafnir was a cyborg. He had been augmented to boost his reflexes to rival that of a Ninjask. The augmentation didn't take, leaving Fafnir slightly faster than a normal Dragonite but completely destroying his continence.

Sabrine looked around the moldering subway station. Where was the person he was supposed to meet?

Strider looked back at his pokemon, Hopper as she was charging up her arms with a small generator. Some time back, when Hopper's augmentation was small, she lost her arm in a freak accident involving a wild electric type. She was better now, but Strider had decided to go ahead and make sure to be somewhat more defensive now.

The human then got his mask on and seeing that Hopper was ready, nodded toewards and returned her into a worn heal ball before sticking it in his pocket and then moving on. He hopped down from a ledge that could be climbed with the rusty iron bar ladder. After that, he listened for any rumbling to make sure nothing big was coming. Once he cobfirmed it was safe, he got onto the walk way on the side of the tracks and made his way to his destination.

After a minute or so, he had got there. Strider, seeing the man with a smashed in face and then Sabrine, knocked on a pipe lightly. "I see that not everyone in the neighborhood is friendly." He said as he stepped over the mugger's face. "You know, killing people like him isn't the kind of thing we should do."

Sabrine turned to Strider. He looked the man over and nodded. This was indeed the man he was supposed to meet.

"Not like I had a choice," Sabrine said, looking around for anyone else. "He threatened to stick me with a rusty spike if I didn't give him my poké ball."

He cracked his neck and shoulders. "You're Strider, right?"

"Yes I am. I'm guessing that you're Sabrine." Strider stated before looking the guy over. "I hope the augmentation you have has some reach on it because we may need it to get some things that are further away." Strider said before walking pass the guy, not wanting to waste much time here.

He then opened up a door, rusty hinges loudly screeching as he forced it open. Walkng outside and open the wet metallic stairs. "It isn't too far from here. Follow my lead once we do."

Sabrine nodded. He followed Strider, taking care not to slip on the water-slicked metal staircase. The distinct industrial tang of the city began to reach his nostrils as he ascended into the murky sunlight.

As he did so, he tensed up, ready for action. But seeing as this long-deserted area of the city was mostly crumbling from neglect and abandoned with the only signs of life being some Rattata, he relaxed slightly.

Nevertheless, he still kept his guard up, watching Strider's every move.

They weren't going to be in the abandoned portion of the place for too long though. Strider made his way over to a large stone blockade that was meant to keep people on the poor side out. He looked back at him before saying, "There's a ladder for you to use up there." He said, pointing too a loose fire escape ladder. After saying that, he crouched down and jumped up up, grabbing onto the ledge of a window sill. Then he leaped over the wall, landing on the other side with a splash. After that, he patiently waited for Sabrine to follow.

On the other side, buildings were better maintain and technology was certainly less... old. Advertising signs shined brightly on the crowded streets and cars cruised by on the road. Above, a long system and magnetic train tracks occasionally sparked above due to poor maintenance. The buildings off to the side had markets, apartments, bathrooms and so on in them. Very few pokemon could be seen roaming the streets, and the few that were were water typed enjoying the rain while their owners allowed them the wander around.

Strider adjusted his mask and continued to move on.

Sabrine pointed at the ladder. He felt that familar pressure in his forehead as the ladder levitated slightly and lowered itself to the ground. The man quickly scrambled up the ladder, following after Strider. Upon reaching the top of the wall, he looked around. Not having the reflexes or agility of Strider, he simply opted to carefully lower himself down onto a closed dumpster and then leap onto the ground. Even then, his landing was less than graceful as he kicked up a plume of water.

When he caught up to him (no easy task thanks to Strider's superhuman agility and speed), Sabrine looked around. Compared to the shitty apartment he and Fafnir called home, the glistening apartments that loomed overhead were practically mansions.

"So this is where those anti-augment jackoffs live," he muttered.

Strider looked to him and nodded lightly. "Basically, this is where they all stick around. Staying in their rooms and spewing out empty insults at us quote monsters unquote." He said, doing the hand gesture and everything as he walked down the side walk calmly, not wanting to attract attention to either himself or Sabrine.

Eventually, he rounded a corner and stopped at an alley way and began to go through it. Passing by a dumpster and over a foul man hole cover, he stopped at an iron door. "Okay, here are the details. We're to go in here, fetch some information, get out. Nice and clean, but we have to make sure to disable all security and try to remove any evidence of us being there." He told him as he stood to one side of the door. "Open it, but keep it quiet." He then said to him.

Sabrine scowled. "They should look in the mirror," he muttered. "We're letting people upgrade if they want to. We're not forcing people to upgrade but they've been calling for the upgraded people to be killed."

When he followed Strider out onto the avenue, he saw numerous pokémon...most of them were classically "cute" species like Eevee or Poochyena. He also noticed a fair number of them also wore diapers. Hat was something odd to him since he figured they hadn't been upgraded. Shruggingx he wrote it off as a quirk of these bigots.

As he rounded the corner down a dirty alleyway wih Strider, he found himself facing a large iron door. He looked at it...no doorknob. Apparently, it was an emergency exit.

As Strider gave the mission rundown, he nodded. "Give me a minute or so." He looked at the door and concentrated. He felt his forehead aching as he telkinetically pushed the latch open and pulled the door open. Sabrine wedged his fingers in the gap between the door and frame and pulled with his body and mind.
