The GREAT and POWERFUL Babysitter (Private with deathshadow)

I lived that day, everyday. The day when things took a turn for the worst. It had been in my mind since it happened; everything I had worked for, earned through blood, sweat and tears, had been whisked out from under me faster than I could say my own name. The fear that settled knowing I had nowhere to go, my self-esteem falling ever so slightly, although one wouldn't notice, and the humiliation, oh, the humiliation that day took on an effect like no other.

The day that dreaded Twilight Sparkle decided to upstage me in front of everypony.

She could have walked away, perhaps lost the battle, but no, Twilight just had to vanquish what I claimed to have vanquished. Well, no, she beat an Ursa Minor. The GREAT And POWERFUL Trixie massacred an Ursa MAJ- ...oh, what's the use. I have nothing left anyway. I continue to live this day in my mind, pondering it, examining every detail. She couldn't have, but she did. Impossible, but I saw it. SHE DESTROYED MY HOME And...I...have never felt so much rage in my life. I have rerun that day many times but now...now isn't the time for thinking. Now is the time for action. Soon Twilight, soon you will regret ever upstaging THE GREAT, AND POWERFUL, TRIXIE! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Trixie, the young, yet talented show magician, sought out a spell to defeat her nemesis. She cared not of the results, nor how long it would take, but with several tomes of ancient magic and a variety of spells at her disposal, it was only a matter of time before the Canterlot Library offered her the perfect revenge opportunity. She would then stride back to her bridge overpass, which granted just the perfect breeze, and sleep beneath it after many hours of practicing her priceless spell. Soon, her revenge would bloom, and she would finally be able to sleep peacefully. A smile grew on her sleeping form, already basking in the praise that was her returning fans.

Twilight had completely forgotten about Trixie. To her that one day was just an incident that happened. She didn't think it was a big deal. After that event she had simply gone on with her life. She had spent her time with her friends, learned so much about magic and friendship, taken several trips, and even defeated two incarnations of evil.

It was what Twilight considered to be like any other day, the sun was shining, the birds were singing, and it was a pleasant day all around. She happened to be strolling in town square, doing a bit of shopping before she went back to her house to study for a bit.

Trixie, at long last, had perfected her spell. It had taken much less time than she had thought it would, though. She was satisfied, having already started her journey to Ponyville on hoof three days prior, since she had no bits for any other transportation. At any rate, it would only be a few more hours until she finally arrived. However, Trixie stopped momentarily, realizing she had no plan. Well, she had her spell, but how to use it? When? Where? Starting at a light trot once more, she began to form the basis of her approach.

Yes, Twilight must be humiliated like I was. I want her to feel the burn of a thousand laughing ponies. This will be a public event, and should take place as soon as possible! Many ponies will flock to me to see the destruction of Twilight Sparkle!

By the looks of it, she would arrive at Ponyville in possibly three hours, meaning she would be there by 2pm. It was the perfect time to prepare what she needed. Smiling now at her evil plan taking form, she slowly rose to a gallop as she continued her way to Ponyville.

Twilight was completely oblivious to the plan of Trixie. She had no reason to think about a one time event. Twilight wondered what book to read when she got back to the library. She didn't care; all the books in the library were good books.

After finally arriving at Ponyville, Trixie spent most of the afternoon preparing the show. She was able to slip some fireworks off of a seller's stand when he wasn't looking, aquire knowledge of a stage that would be in Town Square for the day (traveling street performers), and was able to secretly set up everything by 4pm. Soon, everypony would be making their way home after work. It would be the perfect time to enact her revenge. There was only one problem, though: how would she persuade Twilight to meet her here?

Apparently, Trixie didn't think this through. However, luck appeared to be on her side. As she pondered this, a small yellow pegasus happily skipped her way past her. At first, Trixie didn't acknowledge her, but then she remembered this particular pony. She had been one of Twilight's peers! This was good. As the pegasus went about her business, a sly-looking blue pony in a wizard hat closed the gap between them, with a malicious smile, and a rope aquired from near the stage.

It couldn't have been past 4:30, but if one was paying attention, they would've seen a cloaked form whisk by the door to Ponyville Library, sticking a piece of paper to it and knocking loudly, leaving as quickly as it came.

Twilight opened her door to see no one anywhere nearby. She caught a glimpse of a note on her door and took it off to read it.

Hello Twilight,
You probably don't remember me but I am THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE! If you care to show your face, I have one of your acquaintances hostage and the Town Square's main stage. She'll be released eventually, but you can release her now if you show up. I'll be waiting for you.

Twilight was furious once she read the note. How dare some random person harm one of her friends? "Spike I'll back in a few. If I'm not back in an hour, get Rainbow Dash, Applejack and Pinkie Pie!" Twilight run off to meet her opponent at the stage.

Although she knew Twilight had received her ransom note, Trixie was growing impatient. Maybe she was just a faster runner. In any case, the blue unicorn sat bored by the stage in the square. Little did anypony know, she had hostages underneath. Well, one hostage...the other three being the original owners of the stage. She couldn't have them show up to ruin the entire ordeal, could she? As she sat, she eyed the horizon to the library every few seconds. Finally, after a whole minute and a half, she could see the form of a small purple unicorn. Time to get the show on the road!

"Fillies and gentlecolts!" she declared loudly, standing upright on the stage, "I hereby invite you all to see the world's most amazing faceoff of magic ever to be seen by anypony since the war of the princesses!" This received a few disapproving looks, but others seemed curious, and made their way hesitantly to the shouting pony. "This battle of magical ability will be brought to you by the world's most skilled magician, yours truly, the GREAT and POWERFUL Trixie! ...and some bookworm who runs a library." she continued, adding absolutely no emphasis on that last part. "Oh, and here comes the opposer now! Let's all welcome her to the stage!" Trixie pointed to the approaching Twilight in the distance, a small firework popping behind her as a show of enthusiam.

Twilight was filled with rage as she heard the opposing unicorn ramble on about her "amazing" powers. Twilight was sure that this annoyance wouldn't pose a problem to her and she would be able to rescue whoever was captured, which was more than likely Fluttershy unfortunately. She couldn't really see Apple Jack or Rainbow Dash getting captured at all. Rarity would have been a hell of a fight as well. Pinkie Pie would have been too annoying which left the timid Fluttershy to be her hostage.

Twilight arrived at the stage and stopped to confront this "Trixie." "Trixie how dare you take one of my friends hostage! That's a felony here in Ponyville. The Canterlot Guard is already on there way to arrest you. I suggest you stand down and release Fluttershy and whoever else you have immediately in order to gain leniency."

Trixie's eyes widened. "What is this? Do you not recall in your tiny little mind the GREAT and POWERFUL Trixie in all her glory? Do you not remember when I helped defeat the dreaded Ursa Major that attacked this poor, helpless town?"

"I'm pretty sure Twilight did that," came a skeptical male cry from the crowd. "It was an Ursa Minor," came another.

"Oh, hush up you!" Trixie pointed randomly to the growing crowd. "I'll have you know it was I who did most of the work, but never you mind! I have come to settle a score, so now that you know Twilight, it's time to introduce the main attraction for those of you who just arrived! The winner of this battle of spells will be none other than I, the GREAT, and POW-"

"We already heard this," came a female voice from the crowd.

"How DARE you inturrupt my GLORIOUS introduction!" Trixie boomed. "I'll have you know, I am a world-rekno- Suddenly, Trixie was cut-off again as dozens of fireworks went off behind her, surprising just about everypony. They boomed and exploded into several colors, finishing with a small finale that impressed many young fillies and colts. Trixie just stared in awe at her ruined presentation, but quickly shook herself, regaining her composure. Pointing again to Twilight, she finally reached her proposition. "Alright, you know the deal. You beat me in this challenge, and I shall return your friend! You lose and, well...I might release her anyway or...not," she finished, smiling snobbishly.

"You better not harm ANY of my friends! If you do, so help you Celestia I will banish you to a different dimension!" Twilight was filled with anger but she was able to stay composed and stayed calm. "I don't think you even know who you're up against." Twilight was becoming a bit cocky, perhaps due to the fact that she backup on the way within minutes. "I'll tell you what, I don't know who you are really Trixie, but I'll let you have the first shot." Twilight scoffed at her and turned around and smacked her own flank. "Come and get me."
