I'm at a odd cross road
So as of the last few years or so I've been at a odd cross road of sorts. This crossroad is the fact that theres been no anime coming out that i care about.....no I'm not joking in the last several years the only anime that has actually gotten my attetion was Kill La Kill. Now with the recent news that Bleach will be ending soon it got me thinking and well its sad to say but I think I might be behind the times I guess would be the way to say it. I grew up watching DBZ, Sailor Moon, Outlaw Star, Naruto, Bleach, Yu Yu Hakusho and the like but outside of Dragon Ball Super(which gets a instant watch) And Kill La Kill my anime experince over the last few years have been kinda bad. I've watched other Anime sure but each of them either didn't hook me or just fell flat on there face. hear are some examples.
Sword Art Online came to toonami and looking at the comercial's I got excited since it looked like a more action filled Dot. Hack and it was...for like four episod's then it was mostly drama with the only character I liked becoming less used and more the support. Asuna was cool...till she actually got with Kirito who fun fact like almost all MC's I wound up hating. I Never even finished Gun Gale Online.
One Punch Man........fell right on its face for me. The fights while stunning...where so god damn pointless. Saitama was boring and Genos who I like was the Krillin of the show so yeah...needless to say I stuck around for the music and that was it.
My Hero Aci-what ever(I can't spell that)......I haven't seen the show but I have seen the art style and some of the characters....not a fan and I hate Super Hero type shows so nope.
Berserk.....instant skip since the only character I like in the old anime is still mind fucked. so nope.
One Peice.....meh I can watch it but at the same time I have no investment. I honestly don't like anyone on the crew and all the villians are meh to me as well. Some of the power's are cool though.
JoJo BA.......no..just no. The art style...well more the way its shaded and colored in a lot of what I saw just hurts my eyes. plush I genuinly don't like ANYONES design.
so as you can see I'm in quit a pickle. it should also be noted that I really prefer long running series over shorter ones with the ONLY two anime that got past that being Outlaw Star and Kill La Kill both of which I still feel where far to short for there own good.
So Yeah with my current taste in anime I more or less feel like I'm a out dated fangirl who's been left behind.
I should also state that theres a really high chance that I won't watch an anime unless it's has english voice's. Yes I'm basically a dub only person.

I think you kinda need to outsource from the mainstream shonen and the female version of Shonen(I forget what the female version is called) I know thats in general countering the fact you did say you in general aren't into shorter series but thats about the only way you are going to find anime you are into I think. A main problem you have though is most animes aren't long running and very few long running ones get dubbed for one reason or another
Also Bleach anime has been over for ages unless maybe the dub is soon going to be over or the manga(which I don't know if the manga is ending soon or not)
, I would suggest for afew anime you try that are mainstream but I got hooked thanks to me liking action is being Kenichi the mightiest disciple and Tenjou Tenge albeit that last one does get to alot of drama but its more of a interesting kind in my books as its more fight and backstory drama then anything
I must ask this though why aren't you into subtitled anime much if at all? I may prefer dubs but I will watch subs aswell is why I ask

I like what I like. super cute looking anime make me cring funny enough. Like for example Luck Star.....the hell is with the fact that there teenager's yet they look like six? Drama isn't my thing since it just reminds me of crap thats going on IRL. comedy is great but if it's the only thing in a anime then I get board fast. I don't really enjoy mecha anime with the exception of Gundam Wing and G Gundam(I've seen Big O and other mecha anime that people love and I either wound up lossing interst or just hating it all together). I realise that I sound very unlady like when I say this but I need good fights AS well as characters that I can get attached to or else I lose interest.
As for why I mostly ONLY watch Dub its very simple. I have a bad attetion span. And since I watch fighting anime I can't follow the fight and read subs at the same time. There's also the fact that I just tend to find a lot of sub voice's either annoying or just bland. and example would be how Goku in the sub version of DBZ has a voice that actually makes me want to mute the tv. Even Vegeta and Piccolo sound stupid to me in sub's. Naruto's voice bothers me in it as well. Honestly the only Anime I can actually watch subbed is Bleach and even then I dislike certian voices.
I've seen Tenjou Tenge and it's anime was half assed comepaired to the manga which went WAY past where the anime stopped. Like I said I don't enjoy short anime and 24ish epsiod's is short.
I've watched a few episode's on the Kenichi as well and it didn't stick. Wasn't a fan of the desigin's and the over all idea for the story didn't hook me.

I don't call a 24 ep anime series short as most animes stick to in general the 12 to 24 ep format

A lot of the ones I've watched though where MUCH longer. like I said the only ones on my top ten list that are below 50 epsiod's is Oulaw Star and Kill La Kill and even then I was unhappy with how short they where. I honestly don't watch much if any tv ouside of a few anime I record on Toonami so the longer the series the better since it give me something fun and enjoyable to watch. I don't live a very eventful life dear so i need things to do.

Fair enough and Toonami does go for longer series as its cheaper in the long run to have longer series. Heres a question if a series has like each ep a hour long without factoring in commercials? but is about 10 or so eps would you still look into it ?
Also same here on not living a very eventful life, matter of fact I hardly got anything to do most of the time so I'm big on things that are action or make you think

*Cracks knuckles* I guess it depends on the types of rp you like. Stuff like YuYu Hakusho and Dragon Ball isn't going to come around as much anymore, aside from the continuation of Dragon Ball. A lot of current animes are about ghouls, aliens, children who seem ready for sex..........and just all kinds of goofy stuff. Honestly all the ones about death bore me. Like attack on titan, tokyo ghoul, death note.....etc.
Some animes that are coming out are SOLELY comedy based. One Punch Man is a satire on previous animes, which is why it might sit well with you depending on the light you shine on it. It's an anime where the main character is just a normal human and for no reason (so far) can hit enemies once and kill them. His life goal is to find someone he can fight without instantly killing them. So the side characters and overpowered villains are the joke. They spend so much time charging up and evolving, just to be blown to bits.
My Hero Academia is an interesting developing story of the greatest hero passing his skill and knowledge down to a class of kids becoming heroes. It has a very slow start, but the comedy gets better and you learn a bit about characters from time to time. It has really good music.
One Piece is very good, now granted there are ALOT of episodes that you can just skip over and not miss a thing. In its entirety though, it is very entertaining and helps you to want to keep watching it. I am glad I caught up with it. The main character Luffy is so strong in each individual portion of the arcs, so the joke is that he's always sidelined for some dumb reason until he can come back and power up to face the final boss in way or another. So some story lines are a bit tedious and drawn out, but in general I like it.
You're gonna just have to kinda give an anime a chance and see how it goes. I am watching older stuff so I have things to look forward to, but as far as new things coming out, I'd say you can pick one good anime out of the handful they come up with.
