Eventually, the two made it to one of the nearby apartment complexes. Fortunately, it didn't seem to particularly stand out among the others, as it was a relatively compacted area that would surely be hard to thoroughly search if the cops even cared enough to pursue them.

After entering and rushing up a few flights of stairs while holding the girl's hand, the boy dug into his pocket and pulled out his keys. Fishing through them, he pulled one in particular out and used it to unlock the door. After opening it, he sighed in relief and slowly brought himself and the girl inside, turning the lights off and closing/locking the door. "Oh, that was close..." Finally, the boy let go, breathing heavily from the fear of being killed and the exhaustion of running as he landed on the couch. "You... saved me..."

"No, I just ruined your life," Emma said as she sat down on the floor and placed her face in her hands. "They'll find you eventually and kill you without hesitation. I don't know why I even protected us; we're going to get caught sooner or later. I only delayed that!"

Craig, yet again, stood up and went toward the girl's side, sitting down and this time lightly holding onto her shoulders. "Don't say that. That's not an absolute guarantee, at least not yet. Now the last thing I want you to do is worry about it now that you're in here and actually sort of safe... so please... just calm down... please..."

The girl refused to calm down, but at least listened to Craig; enjoying the safety of an actual home was something she was dying to experience again. She had thought she was doomed to forever live in the streets, being threatened by the troops and the natural elements, not to mention finding food and clean water in a city of all places.

The girl sighed, accepting that the troops must have lost them, but that didn't stop her hands from trembling. Looking at Craig, she asked, "D-do you have a shower I could use...and clean clothes to wear for now?"

Craig had a feeling that completely winning the girl's trust would be close to impossible... at least for now. She was still scared out of her mind, unable to control the fear of being caught and killed and for "involving him", as she thought.

"Yes I do..." Craig softly replied, helping the girl to her feet and holding her hand again, unable to control his light blush as he led her to his bedroom. "Right this way... I hope you're alright with wearing... um... guy clothes. I live alone, so I sort of don't have anything for women... but a shirt, a pair of my pajamas and boxers should actually be enough..."
Gently letting go of her hand, the boy opened the door and pulled out a towel from a cabinet underneath the sink, folding it and setting it on the closed toilet seat.
"Alright, just let me know if you need anything else, okay? I'll be close by if you need me..." Craig stated with a smile, walking away once he was sure the girl was fine.

The girl nodded, soon closing the bathroom door and disappearing from Craig's sight. It was silent for a few moments, but that was soon broken by running water as the girl turned on the shower.

Craig quickly went to the kitchen, preparing a nice, hearty meal of macaroni and cheese for himself and the young woman. He made it as quickly as possible, wanting to give her a bit of a surprise as well as to attend to something else; her clothes. The poor girl was wearing fairly decent clothes, though unfortunately they were dirtied and partially tattered in some spots. Washing them would remove that, however.

After setting out the bowls of macaroni and cheese along with some silverware, Craig crept into the bathroom where Emma was still apparently showering. Noticing the pile immediately, Craig took the girl's tank top, bra, and shorts... only to discover a particular, white, thick undergarment neatly folded underneath. Blushing heavily, the boy left that where it was and slowly walked out of the bathroom, quietly closing the door and taking the clothes to be washed.

The girl... wore diapers?

After a few minutes went by, the shower was turned off and wet footsteps sounded inside the bathroom. The girl soon let out a gasp as she discovered her clothing missing. It wasn't so much that she didn't have anything to wear now, but obviously one would spot the clear diaper in order to retrieve her tathered and dirty clothes. She knew instantly it had to he Craig who came in, now both red in the face from embarrassment and anger. Quickly putting on the clothes she borrowed along with the diaper, she wxited the bathroom and began to search for Craig.

Craig, at this point, was sitting at the table, eating the portion of his meal while his face still remained a bright shade of red. It was strange that his biggest concern now wasn't his possible execution at the hands of the government, or that he was exiled inside his home with a girl with genetic superpowers... but that said girl wore diapers and he had managed to accidentally discover it! So for now, he decided to eat and wait for the girl, though looking toward the hallway as the noise of the shower stopped.

The girl soon popped into Craig's view, making him see the redness of her face matched his own. She crossed her arms before speaking to him in a flustered an annoyed tone. "Y-you should have knocked before just barging in and taking my things. What kind of person just walks in on a girl in the bathroom? Now you...know...or I assume you know now."
