Mikka noticed the change in weather about the same time that Luke did, and was going to comment on it before Luke mentioned something below. "Huh, what do you..." Mikka leaned in. Sure enough, there did seem to be something down there, very faint from this distance, but it had a shape and she could even see some sections that didn't have snow on it, although the implications for why didn't cross her mind.

As Luke started down the side of the ridge, Mikka felt a lurch inside. "Uhh, hey Luke... Be careful. I've never been down this way before, there could be loose rocks..." She started to climb down after him, trying to give him enough space to step and descend. It wasn't a particularly steep fall, but you never know what the snow may hide, so she'd learned to stay alert. She'd kinda wished that she'd been faster on the draw, and gone down first, but there wasn't much stopping Luke once he started in on something.

They reached the bottom safely, to Mikka's relief, although she wouldn't show that to Luke so easily. She looked over the snow covered object in front of her, unsure of it's true nature. Was it a building? It certainly was shaped like one... But it was rather short looking to be a building. "Hey, lets be careful..." For all of her hesitations, she was bouncing with excitement on the inside. Had she worked up the courage to go over this ridge herself, she would have found this place ages ago.

She approached it in a steady manner, Luke right at her side, towards the icey idol of the ridge base... She could have sworn she saw the snow flittering faintly in spots... Almost as if it was being pecked at by faint lights. Surely there was nothing out here that could cause that though, right?

A the boy approached he could see more of it. Although most it was either buried in snow or encrusted with ice. "Hmm , looks like something was here" he said looking at the slightly odd shapes peaking though the snow. If it was a building it was pretty low down. Looking around he saw a small rectangle , he would have is taken it for ice if it had not been so smooth. Treading over to it he saw it was a window, a small window very near the ground. Kneeling down he wiped away some built up snow and peered in. It looked like a storage closet , only he was looking in from the creeling of the room. Maybe the whole thing had sunk down a level. "There's something in there" he said , it was maybe two rows of shelves , packed tools and cans , and a door "come on , help me with this will you" he said trying to clear the snow to get it open.

She'd looked up at the ridge for just a moment, but her eyes locked on the top when she'd realized just how high up they'd climbed down from. From this angle, it was hard to imagine that you could get back up the side, but she's sure they'd find a way back when they were done exploring.

Mikka's fixation on the ridge was broken when Luke announced that he'd made a discovery, causing her to whip back around. "Really? Like what...?" She marched over quickly to take a look, seeing the small window buried in the snow. A little light was pouring from it, very faint, but sure enough it was there. Was there someone living in here? "Oh yeah, sure." She said excitedly in response to his request, although a little nervous to comply. She leaned down and started to help him clear the space in front of the window, trying to uncover a latch or something to open it with.

"What do you think's in there?" She asked while wrist-deep in snow, not bothering to look up from her task.

"Dunno , lets find out" he said finally clearing the ice away and pushing it hard enough to break the latch and pushed the window open. Lying down in the snow he managed to slip in feed first , getting inside feet first and stepping away a bit "you coming , or staying out there scardy cat." he taunted as he looked over the cans and tools , they were pretty dusty , probably really old too by the dates on the labels, certainly older than he was. Opening up the door he found a metal stairway , it stretched down in a spiral , looking through the gaps in the steps it looked to go on a fair bit. There was only some glow strips by the steps to light the way , no other lights of any kind. Maybe it was an old power plant , judging on the size of the place , although he was sure there had never been anything of the sort on the continent.

After clearing a bit more of the snow, Luke motioned for her to move out of the way a little. As he cleared the last of the ice, the latch could be seen... From the other side. Mikka's heart dropped for a second, but Luke simply pushed his gloved hand into it and the latch broke with little effort. Mikka kept herself quiet, surprised that he'd managed to open it with such ease.

She watched him slide in, finding his footing inside. She was looking through to the inside, now having a clear view, when Luke taunted her. "H-hey! I am NOT a "scaredy cat"." She corrected haughtily. They knew each other's buttons at that point, and beckoning Mikka was one of her easiest. She quickly broought herself through the window and planted herself inside as Luke was opening the door. She looked over his shoulder at the strange spiral, nudging him forward a little by accident.

"Uh... Hey, calling me scaredy cat, but then blocking the way? Comon, lets go!" She said, drinking down her fear. She wasn't exactly enthused by the thought of wandering into this strange dark place, but she'd been challenged, and had to assert herself in any way she could. She gave Luke another gentle shove, showing that she expected him to lead the way. The window behind them creaked closed again, silently, but it did noticeably close out the cold.

Or perhaps that was Mikka's imagination? There was something about the doorway... It was... warm? A very faint, gentle warmth... No, it was likely just Mikka's body playing tricks on her.

"Fine fine" he said as he stepped down the winding stairwell , it went a fair bit down and at the bottom they came to what looked like the hull of the ship , the engine room , lots of huge metal pistons and large circuit boards. Looking up the cables and tubing stretched up until he couldn't see them any more and it just vanished into the dark. The floor was still metal grate and his boots clanked along the walkway until they came to some cross roads with a sign on the side. "Lets see , left control room. Where we came from , repair supplies, right for exit to social , straight ahead for other mechanical areas" he said wondering what what kind of place they had stumbled into. There was a map to the other side , it showed a tower split up by floors "floor 1 exit , floor 2 living and recreational area, floor 3 living area for children, floor 4 living area for adults, floor 5 control and governance , floor 6 garden and food production, floor 7 excersize area, floor 8 life support ,storage and archives" he read "huh, how about we go to the control room , turn on the lights and have a look around this place , maybe it was a hotel that flopped or something." he said , this was by far the best find. Luke was feeling a little hot under the collar , must be from being deep down, he unzipped his jacket to try and cool down a bit.

She looked around a bit at all of the massive objects fitted to the walls and floors around her, Mikka staying close to Luke the best she could. If the two got separated in some place as dark as this, it'd be a hassle to find one another again. What little light they did have was low and gentle, resting near the floor. A functioning guide in the dark, Mikka silently marveled that anything could still be pulling power down here. They stopped in front of the floor plan, which Mikka glanced at from over Luke's head.

"Sure, sounds like a plan." Mikka said, already marching in the direction of the Control Room. She spun around in place to make sure that Luke was still following, her exaggerated footfalls onto the metal causing a bit too much noise to hear Luke. When she turned around, she saw him pulling down the zipper of his jacket, to her surprise. "Easy there, you exhibitionist." Mikka chided, actually feeling rather warm herself. She didn't know why the place was so warm, but sure enough after they descended the stairs, the temperature down here was less harsh, although warmer didn't mean it was necessarily a household temperature.

Mikka waited until Luke passed her, bowing a bit and holding out her hands sarcastically like an usher to let him pass before briskly following behind him, more excited than nervous. She began to undo her own overcoat as they walked, feeling a little relief from the interior's air as she did so.

Luke plodded into a rather small room , switchboards lined the walls , large blank T.V sets and a large control board with a single chair sat infront of it. Curious he turned to look around and saw a large leaver painted yellow and black with a dial next to it. The dial had small text inscribed above it "low power use" he said , the dial had been moved a little , he guessed that was why it was warm and they had a little light. "I'm guessing this is the mains power then" he said reaching up to the leaver and trying to tug it down. It was stiff and creaked a little but the boy couldn't move it in any significant way. "Come on , help me out here" he said nodding up to the leaver he still had his hands clasped around.

Mikka walked into the room slowly, taken aback by the age on the monitors around them. She could make out a tiny dark reflection of herself in one of them through the dust, but it was distorted. She turned her attention back to Luke whenever he mentioned the dial, briskly walking over too him. "Tch, come on Luke... This thing can't be... *grunt* that... *urgh* tough...!" The two of them struggled to pull the level down, it taking all of Mikka's effort to get it to budge. As soon as it did though, it shot straight down, all the way to the bottom with a loud crashing "clunk". Luke had let go of the lever whenever they came down, landing on his bottom.

Mikka almost fell atop Luke when this happened, causing her to blush as she caught herself with the level, maintaining her balance. "Uhhh, well there ya go. Don't say I never did anything for you." She said, standing up, offering a hand to the toppled Luke. "Here, come on." She said gently, being sincere about helping him up.

Luke offered a hand and lifted himself back up onto his feet , pulling back with all of his remaining strength. He bent over and took some dee breaths after that "o-okay. That's the sights on" he said taking his jacket off and throwing it over the chair "you never do anything for me" he chuckled cheekily. the sound of turbines wirrling to life emanated from the machinery as the place lit up like a Christmas tree. Looking over at the screens he could see rooms in what looked like a house "I think this was a hotel , would make the most sense" he said seeing the bedrooms and kitchens , they looked a little retro , and went a bit overboard with the stars and stripes , wasn't a single room without a flag. Other than that it looked nice , reflective and with primary colours everywhere. "Okay , I think this place exited into 'living areas" he said opening the door for Mikka "after you" he said , mimicking the gesture she made earlier.
