I wonder if it will smell fishy since it has jellyfish in it.

I'm sure that like most disposable diapers, during the manufacturing process any unpleasant smells that are inherent in the absorbent materials will first be neutralized and then perfumes will be added so that any possible fishy smells will be absent before consumer use. Besides for some peeps, it won't matter since they themselves already smell fishy down there!

I have some good news that will really make you smile, SariaSmiles!
This may all come sooner than later to the consumer market! The Israeli company Cine'al has already completed the Research and Development phase of their proprietary Hydromash production process (Read the good news on the company's webpage) -> http://www.capitalnano.com/portfolio/cineal (They even have a picture of a cute little baby girl modeling what appears to be a prototype diaper)! All they need now is some financial backing (In the form of orders) from one of the major disposable diaper manufacturers to get into full production and the jellyfish diapers will soon be available for sale to the mass market~!

That's super-fancy..!
I really like the idea of a diaper that biodegrades in a month--five centuries is an awfully long time to stick around for something people throw away like diapers.
Oh! Also I was reading up on Jellyfish, and it seems like the Jellyfish diaper news hit Wikipedia!
That said, I don't think this will fully replace how we currently make diapers...Considering the number of diapers people use worldwide, I don't really think that it would be sustainable--we would catch up to the jellyfish population before long if the idea really took off.
...Though, we could probably use the technology to make diapers last less time, which would be a huge improvement too. Sure, it's no 30 days, but at least it would no longer be half a millennium.

IMHO, whether this will fully replace how we currently make diapers or not would depend on the economic conditions and consumer spending habits in the future. Initially, the consumer cost of Hydromash (Jellyfish) based diapers would probably be higher than the consumer cost for the pure plastic disposable diapers since the pure plastic ones are now mass produced on such a scale that they are relatively inexpensive for the average consumer while Hydromash based diapers would still probably only gain a niche share of the market in the beginning due to the higher initial production costs and relatively smaller market involved (The manufacturers would have to launch one huge and clever marketing campaign to convince consumers that their product is really worth the initial extra cost for their product). Back in the late 1950s and early 1960s, when pure plastic disposable diapers were first introduced, they were an expensive luxury item with cloth diapers still being the preferred choice by most consumers for their re-usability and average price per use when factored over time - That and the softness factor of cloth (See post #4 here) can't [Still] be beat by that of the plastic disposable diapers. But as time passed and the economies in developed countries, consumer demand for pure plastic disposable diapers and production increased, the average price of the product decreased.
The economies in many developed countries are still growing slowly (Some of us are still recovering from a recession, though prices for goods seem to be rising). If enough eco-conscious people were to buy Hydromash based diapers instead of the pure plastic disposable diapers, perhaps the manufacturers will take notice and increase production. Then the average price of the Hydromash based diapers could drop to such a point that the product could eventually be competitively priced against the pure plastic disposable diapers. Perhaps if the use of Hydromash in disposable diapers becomes popular enough, the manufacturers of the pure plastic disposable diapers will have to start to incorporate Hydromash into their products as a standard feature or face being made obsolete (And driven out of business) by their competitors who do use it. Conversely, if the economies in developed countries take another downturn like they back in 2008, consumers will tend to go with one of the least expensive alternatives (i.e. Pure plastic disposable diapers). Only time will tell.

That scenario might not necessarily have to come to pass even if consumer demand for Hydromash based diapers increases significantly. Perhaps a new industry of farmers could raise jellyfish in "sea farms" and harvest them under controlled conditions for sale to the Hydromash (Cine'Al licensed?) manufacturers or the Hydromash manufacturers themselves could farm their own jellyfish to lower production costs, so that the jellyfish population would never reach endangered levels. Just like humans now sustain-ably raise cows, pigs, chickens and other animals for food, so too could jellyfish be sustain-ably raised for diaper material.

While certainly an interesting piece, I would have to stay with the classics, I think. It's not that I don't care about absorbancy - I do. But there's something about the feel of plastic that calls to me. To be frank, I would have to feel these new synthetics for myself before I felt confident about them.
It's sort of the same way with cloth - I always hear cloth is such a better option than disposable, but it's just not for me. I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way.

Honestly, I don't want this. While it is more economically and biologically friendly, I think I would miss the feeling of a thick, plastic diaper around my waist
