To say that Busan, Korea was a city living in fear would be an understatement. For years the once lively and bustling city has been ravaged by the gwishin omnnics from the sea. Appearing every few years or so the omnics would rise from the waves of Suyeongman Bay and tear the city to shreds.

Many people moved further inland or even out of Busan because of it. Leaving behind whatever was deemed unimportant or not worth the hassle of relocating. Unfortunately for some, that meant a rise in orphans as hundreds of people either left or died by the omnics.

Orphanages were overrun with children who no longer had a home. One of them was Hana Song, overall she was a spunky 5-year-old who hated losing any game she played. She was loud and sometimes bossy, surprising for someone with her petite frame. She had to be though. She learned a long time ago that you either are on top or you lose. She hated losing.

Even now as she played against her best friend, Yuna (7 -years her senior) the little girl was winning their battle of checkers.

"Checkmate!" Hana declared triumphantly in Korean, scattering the makeshift board and all of its pieces across the floor.

"That's not even how this game works, Hana." Yuna was patient with her.

Dr. Angela Ziegler paced back and forth in her hotel room. She had only been in country for a few days and her nerves were shot waiting for the okay to go to the orphanage with her wife, Fareeha.

"Fareeha, I dunno how much more of this I can take." She groaned

No sooner had those words left her mouth Angela’s phone rang, it was the Orphanage.

“Are you going to answer it???” Now Fareeha climbed over the bed to get to Angela. Her picturesque calm was shattered.

Fareeha wrapped Angela in a huge hug. "This is finally it." She grinned, letting her excitement show. "We're going to have a family." she planted a kiss on Anglea's cheek. It has been their dream since marrying 5 years ago to adopt a child. After a long and grueling process they finally made it.
