Miststueck von einem Sohn (private for thelonegrunt and Sami-Chan)
(As mentioned before, this is a private RP. Do not post if your name is not listed. Thank you.)
The current date: December 25th, 2012. Usually a seemingly jolly and festive time, there was nothing felt. No happiness, no sense of loving compassion or anything else of the sort; just an empty and hollow feeling which complimented the desolate wasteland of a small California town. From the looks of it, there was no one in site; as a bustling and developing town in the Golden State, this absence of activity was something which was hardly ever felt. If anyone else knew of the dramatic circumstances leading to this point, they would completely understand why the town was in this stagnant state of solitude.
Over the last few years, the common interests of the People's Republic of China, Russia, North Korea, and other countries which either currently or previously practiced communism, formed an alliance known simply as the Communist Regime. With the combined power of several nations, the influence spread throughout Asia and a bit through Europe, with smaller communist factions spreading up South America and growing in size, before stopping the advance somewhere in Mexico close to the U.S. With the alarming threat of communism slowly inching its way closer to the United States, the President and Congress both needed to react to the growing threat which was soon to rear its ugly head in the head of democracy.
With the pressure mounting, the President appointed around 15 spies to secure intelligence of the Communist's plans. Only two returned home, as the others were either killed or imprisoned for there actions. The two loyal spies were able to verify this: the Communist Regime was planning the first invasion, on December 25th, 2012. Stricken with complete paranoia, both the President and Congress unanimously agreed: war was eminent, and it was time to get ready for it.
For the first time in more than 60 years, the first atomic bomb was dropped the city of Moscow on December 22nd, 2012, the main location of the Communist Regime's newly formed headquarters. This was then followed with a communist retaliation, with the bombing of America's largest city, New York. Now with the two sides going back and forth, the end of the world had begun.
In only three days, billions of people were dead, either due to the radiation or the initial blast a nuclear bomb brought about. Right now, the advance of the Communist Regime was at a stalemate, as advancing in the now barren wastes of America was far too costly for the communists to risk. Right now, it was best to assume that the will of America was diminished into almost nothing, as nationalism was non-existence for a nation which was now dealing with such life-altering turmoil.

Everything was destroyed throughout the world now, with absolutely nothing left. what should have been a peaceful Christmas morning was now a fight for one's life. Nobody was even sure what the population of the Earth was anymore. What used to be major cities and highly populated areas were now wastelands, with nothing but the wind left. Lakes were reduced to mere acidic puddles, water now extremely valuable to anyone who came across it, and the remaining survivors were forced to scurry along the rubble like rats and cockroaches for food.
Amongst these survivors was a 13-year-old German girl named Gabi. She arrived at California on the 19th to visit and stay with a relative of hers for Christmas, for she barely got any time to spend any time with one another. That relative was now dead because of the war, something that she and everybody else wish they could have done something to stop it. Gabi was just like any other child in the world; happy, playful, not afraid to speak her mind. Now she was forced to change that, and to grow up within these few short days quickly, since she knew that if she didn't, she surely would not be alive for very long. Her only goal now was to return to her parents in Iowa, and only hopes that they would still be there, waiting for her until she came back. With a backpack strapped onto her back full of everything she needed, she trudged onwards, heading in the direction that felt natural to follow.

At the same moment, there was one other person sustaining himself in the town. Jason, a young 15-year old boy, with dark, buzzed hair and a decent build for someone his age, was now surfing the web, headphones on at full blast for seemingly hours, as the boy kept to his room as much as possible. He was waiting for dinner, as unknown to him, everyone, including his parents, were being evacuated from the town and to a safer, more remote location, where the threats would be subsequently diminished.
Right now, he was blissfully unaware that this town remain stationed, with little to no signs of life around to disprove this fact. He, at this point, was waiting for dinner, as it had been since noon (and before the swift evacuation) since he had eaten a single morsel. This didn't come to much surprise to the boy, however; it seemed his parents cared more about re-stabilizing their once broken relationship to care more about the force that brought them back to begin with; himself. Ever since Jason realized this change, he started to slowly resent his mother and father, unknown to them as the anger-induced thoughts transpired within his mind.
Soon enough, his hunger was at a breaking point. He calmly removed his headphones and went outside of his room to investigate what was up. "Hey mom, are you making dinner yet?" He questioned, to no immediate response, as silence filled the air as soon as his voice echoed off and down the hall. "Mom? Dad? Hello?" Something seemed very strange; he would have heard the slight creaking of his father's rocking chair, and smell the succulent meal being prepared by his mother normally at this time, but this was not sensed by him at all.
Jason searched through the home, looking for any signs of his parents, which he could not seemingly detect. It seemed that they were both gone, but something did not feel right at all; usually when they both left to do something, they would inform him on where they would be and what they would do. If not, they would have sent him a text with the information, and when he pulled out the smartphone in his right jean pocket, he had received nothing of the sort.
With a bit of concern, the boy now walked outside, opening the door slowly and taking a gander outside. The first thing he was able to detect was the absence of the streets; the town looked completely deserted, and it became quickly apparent why this was; Jason was fully aware of the nuclear holocaust being imposed on humanity, but did not expect this town would feel the effects of it so quickly. He did overhear earlier plans of an evacuation, but he did not know the forces would work so rapidly without him being aware. If this was the work of the armed forces, they apparently left him behind.
"Hello?" He yelled out, causing his voice to be heard through the form of another echo.

Gabi had heard this yell, but it sounded to far away from her position for her to care. She planned to be a line traveler for her entire journey, knowing that she was very capable of taking care of herself. Still, she would be awfully lonely the entire way, with nobody but herself to keep company if she chose this path the whole way. She wasn't sure who she should trust at this point of time, for the answer for that was no for now. If she were to side with somebody, it would mean working twice as hard to survive, and to double and share resources. That wouldn't be good on her part. If someone happened to come by, she had a pistol ready that was laying in her pocket, something her relative had. There was only one clip inside it, but it should be enough until more ammunition were to be found along the way. She hoped she would not be needing it anytime soon.

Jason, at this point, was stricken with complete confusion. Exactly why was it that he was left behind, whereas everyone else was taken off of the streets and to safety? Right now, he realized he would need to do something; either he stay here and simply contemplate everything that might be happening now, or take some form of action and search around town for any clues of the disappearances of the citizens, and try to find any others left behind.
With nothing being seen or detected by the boy, the choice was quickly made; going near the head of the door, Jason went back to his room to slip on a pair of socks. He then went to the rack near the door, slipping a warm hoodie over just in case. He then went and slipped a pair of his good sneakers on, before going around and turning everything electronic off in his home. As he was not completely sure when he would or if he would return, he grabbed the lone house key from his room, now heading outside. He then shut the door and locked it, slipping the key in his empty pocket and heading down the stairs of his apartment complex and into the streets.
Unknown to the boy, the quiet German girl was walking near the bottom of the steps...

Gabi gasped as the two suddenly collided when Jason had opened up the apartment complex door, instantly drawing out her gun and aiming it at the boy. She wasn't goog to shoot him, for he had only startled her, but she didn't know who he was, making her become very concerned for her own safety and the whereabouts of the boy, and the reasons why he was here. She wasn't Goin to speak to him either, and let her pistol do the talking. Gabi wasn't just going to apologize for wha happened, even if she would have any other normal day. It wasn't though; it was an apocalypse. She remained in a pointimg position, refusin to let her guard down until she knew it was safe to. "Was wohin du gehst, du bastard!"

As Jason was about to open his mouth once again to out into the void, he was quick to realize the end of a shiny piece of metal shoved near his cranium. He quickly jumped and shrieked at this, now looking to the wielder of the weapon, a much smaller girl who appeared to have no restraints of killing him right now if he so decided to make a poor choice of judgement.
"Woah, woah, woah, take it easy with that!" He said, very fearful and focusing more on the loaded pistol then the girl and the foreign language she spoke. "Calm down, I'm not going to do anything! Just don't shoot, please!" He pleaded with her, slowly motioning his palms to indicate that he meant no trouble, as he so very slightly backed up.

"Bewegen sie sich nicht." Gabi warned, now walking away from Jason slowly. She knew that the boy most definitely didn't understand a single syllable that she was speaking, and she knew English very well, but didn't want to unless she could absolutely trust somebody. The reason for this waste avoid anybody learning any information that she knew, and risk loosing that information to someone else, for example if she said where a source of valuable water was located at. She didn't plan on looking at Jason ever again, and didn't care either. She had a goal, and she intended to reach it. Walking away with the gun still pointed at the boy, she didn't lower it until she was a good five feet away from him. "Und folge mir nicht nach."

Jason, although he was not a speaker of foreign languages, could easily pick up on the hint of German given off from the girl's voice. It was apparent that he could not directly communicate with her (unknowing of the girl's understanding of the English vernacular), but the actions she displayed easily conveyed her annoyances towards him. However, he was still concerned that every single soul in this town was gone, and the only one left besides him was walking in a seemingly aimless direction.
"Hey... just listen... all right, that's better." He said, sighing in relief that the gun was no longer pointed at his face. "I know you might not understand... but I will not hurt you. I have no need to do so." He spoke more relaxed as he very delicately approached her, with no bad intentions in mind.

Gabi gripped her gun tightly, ready for anything that Jason would end up doing as he drew nearer towards him. Though barely knowing the kid, Gabi could tell that he would be a neusance if he stuck around her; his appearance just screamed stuck-up and self centered, to herself at least, and judging how his clothing were clean with no trances of stains or dirt on them unlike her own told herself that he just now figured out about the current world situation. That was slightly baffling to her, considering that the town where she first started her quest was just 5 miles away from where they stood now. That also pointed out he was a clueless fellow as well, making an even bigger point that she shouldn't team up with this boy. Still, he at least should hear him out before making anymore assumptions on his character. "Ordnung. Was auch immer die holle sie wollen, machen es schnell."
