She was looking better by the minute. Matt liked how the miserable mess she was when he took her out of that place was turning into a cute neko girl by the minute.
The response to his question hit like a hammer, though. He was started to wonder if she was programmed this way. Well... most programs could be altered, and after all he was quite a good programmer himself. This time though he couldn't just hook her up to a computer through a USB port. This time he needed some elaborate hacking.
- Well, you need two things. First, you might wanna clean your pretty face now that your hands are free and your nails are done. The second thing is more important though: you need to stop thinking about what I want from you, and rather think about what you want. You aren't with your previous owner any more, here you're allowed to have your own thoughts and desires as long as you do not deliberately oppose me. - he explained, sitting on the side of the tub.
- Come over here. - he motioned for her.
- Back in your room, when I held you, that wasn't because I wanted to hurt you. We humans have this thing called a hug, when we hold someone close, but not too tight because we don't want to trap them, just to comfort them. - he reached over to take her hand and slowly pulled her in a hug, seating her on his lap and wrapping his arms around her, starting to gently stroke her back.
- You don't have to be scared the tiniest bit when I do this. You can break free any second if you feel uncomfortable, and I won't be angry if you do.

So, he wanted me to clean myself up. That would be easy, and I would have done it right away if not for him motioning me over. Which I followed and went close to him. Then he began to explain what he had done earlier. A hug. Then he pulled me into a hug. Telling me that I could break away whenever I felt uncomfortable. I broke away about two seconds after he gave me permission to do so.

Matt didn't really expect her to stay in the hug for long. He hoped so, but didn't really expect. She clearly had problems and wasn't used to contact. Touch probably always meant something abusive for her in her life so far. He let her go without any problem.
- It's OK... clean yourself up. When you're done, could you try tell me what made you pull away? I'd like to understand how you feel about contact.

I didn't answer him, or give him any indication of what he wanted afterwards. But I then quickly went to clean my face up a bit, it was a fairly standard thing to do. As, most Mimi's were dressed up, or mostly covered everywhere else in decoration, the face was usually the most well kept area, as that was the area most people got to see.

He just sat there, watching her getting cleaned up and trying to figure why she was so aversive to any contact.
Then it dawned on him. He thought he was getting an idea what she had to go through. He finally realised that's not the case, he probably never will be able to comprehend that. It suddenly all made sense. The quiet, how easily she got scared, why she didn't want to communicate but thought so much about what he wanted.
- You were... they used you for... they did that... I didn't know, Kayla. I truly didn't know. I honestly don't know what to say. I would never touch you like that. You should know what, since I already had the opportunity. Think about it - if I wanted to abuse you, why would I remove your restraints, why would I give you perfectly normal clothes, and why would I simply pass the opportunity when you were completely naked in front of me? Because the thought never even crossed my mind! - in fact, he found it deeply disturbing. He was trying to find a way to make her understand.
- Kayla, you were conditioned for some things, right? By your... makers. Like, the word that makes you fall asleep. Well... I was "conditioned" too, in a way. Taught by my parents, teachers, family, for more than 16 years, not to ever harm a child, human or not. I'm as capable of hurting you like that, as you are to hold your... fluids. I couldn't bring myself to do it even if I wanted to. Can you understand that? The worst I could possibly do to you is putting you back in restraints, because my training doesn't let me harm you. - hopefully, explaining it this way would make her understand better that she will not be harmed as long as Matt has her. Or she might not even listen - or just think that's a lie. There was quite a chance for these two scenarios to happen knowing how she previously reacted.
- When I went to buy you, I wanted a pet. Then I saw you and I wanted to help you, to get you out of there. I never wanted a... a sex slave.

I listened as he went on. Hearing everything he had to say. And it was right, it sounded right, it even felt right to hear it. But even so. It was still a caution for me. Even if he promised, said he couldn't do it, that wasn't always the truth now was it. "I know, I, know that. People, act certain ways, are taught certain ways. And, become who they are. It was the way with us as well, on, less time goes into it. It leaves us, vulnerable. On the edge of what is, is right and what is wrong. For, the longest time, when I first went out, I assumed everything done to me was right, cause, I understood my implications, I knew what it meant to have to buy me, I was there for the process. So why wouldn't they treat me right? And, even if you do say, that. You were raised to not be able to hurt me, to, not want to wrong me. Well, I was raised to obey. And between you and me, when you raise someone, or anything. There always will be a large margin for error. I mean, look at me. I am the large margin for error among my species." I told him. Feeling terrible. Knowing that speaking out like this, could possibly cost me my life.

She finally started talking. Matt immediately shut up and listened carefully to every word she had to say. She got his full attention, even though it was really tough to hear all that. But, it all made sense, even from someone who was essentially, still a child. When she finally finished, Matt actually smiled.
- You know... I was waiting for this. For you, to finally share your thoughts. To finally get a small chance to understand you better. About what you said, you're right. There is a margin for error. I am, who I am. And you are, who you are. With all our good things and flaws altogether. And that's what makes one unique. When I went there for you, I knew you were returned there. That someone thought you are a faulty product. So what? Nobody's born perfect, not even those who are genetically engineered. I am prepared to accept that, because I don't expect anybody to be perfect. I understand you're cautious. After all you've been through, you have all the right to be. Neither that, nor speaking up to me, will change my mind and make me send you back to that hellhole. You never met anyone who actually cared about you, your well-being, your comfort, your needs. Hell, I too would have a hard time trusting anyone with previous experience like that. Still... I'll remain. I'll take care of you, I'll feed you, dress you and even change your dirty diapers. - he smiled at the last part, pausing for a little before continuing.
- And, should you decide to finally allow yourself to lean on me, you'll be welcome. - he finished, standing up and walking towards the door.
- Are you hungry? I certainly am, and as I recall, you haven't been eating all day either.

After hearing his speech, I felt. Oddly calm. I wasn't sure, but he seemed to be trying to be a very nice guy. And, well, he seemed to genuinely care for me. So, giving him the benefit of the doubt would be the best I could do for now. As he began to leave her asked me if I was hungry. In all honesty I was quite famished. And I nodded my head profusely in response to his question.

Seeing the nod, he started thinking about what could he give her for food.
- So... I never thought I'd give you cat food, but I guess you still like meats? What's it gonna be, pork, beef, chicken, fish? I got everything here. My fridge is almost as big as my closet - he snickered, heading donwstairs to the kitchen. He honestly didn't expect anyone with kitten traits to be vegan. He didn't have a tail and still liked to munch on something that was eating grass a couple days ago...
- Or we can be lazy as hell and order pizza. - he stated the alternative. Because seriously, who doesn't like pizza?

"Yes my main dietary preference is meat. But I am capable of being an omnivorous creature." I said to him, this conversation felt far more standard. As figuring out a feeding schedule is usually the first thing you go through when bought. "Also, I am not sure what this, pizza, is. But if that is what you want me to eat, then I shall." I told him, I didn't know what pizza was, but it must have been some type of food, or why would he be mentioning it at all?
