The new pet (private for Liten)

[Matt_Bradock]

- I see. - That answer was expected from an android, not a kid. She really had a lot of programmed answers, Matt had to realise.
- Well then, pizza it is. - he smiled, reaching for the communicator.
- Hello, yes this is Matt Sanders. I'd like to place an order... two mediums. One Hawaii style, one with tuna and olives... yes. Sure... you say 20 minutes? All right. Thanks. Good bye. - He turned back to Kayla.
- So, 20 minutes until we find out. Want something to drink in the meantime? I got water, O.J., soda... - He was really trying to comfort her - and he was really clumsy at it...

[Liten]

"I don't know what OJ and soda are, water would be acceptable." I told him after watching him place an order for this pizza thing. Hopefully it wouldn't be anything awful. I was certainly looking forward to be able to eat something that tasted good, or at least didn't taste bad. And something to eat in general would certainly just be super welcome. I wondered what this pizza stuff would even be.

[Matt_Bradock]

- Well then it's time you found out. - he settled the drink matter, reaching for the orange juice and pouring her a glass.
- I hope you'll like it. You can still ask for water if you don't. - he added, making sure she knows he doesn't expect her to drink it up at all costs.
- I have no idea how you were fed back there but I'm not gonna make you eat or drink from a bowl on the floor or that. You'll be eating at the table like I do. Well... like I mostly do when I have time for that.

[Liten]

I looked at the glass of orange liquid. It seemed fine, looked like water, except that it was orange. I didn't know what to make of it exactly though. Sniffing at it yielded less results as it simply smelt like a fruit. Grabbing the glass with both hands, to make sure I wouldn't drop it. I sipped some of it. It tasted rather sweet, it was an oddly acidic flavor, but it tasted fine. I liked it. It certainly had more of a flavor than water did.

It was fun to watch her experiencing this kinda drink for the first time.
- Did you ever drink anything other than water or maybe milk? - he asked, watching her taking her first sips.
The doorbell came a couple seconds after his question.
- Well looks like you can try another new thing in a few moments. - he smiled, going to answer the door and pay for the pizzas, leaving a tip - and making sure the delivery guy didn't see Kayla.
- Here they are. - he said, putting the boxes on the table, opening them up, and then slicing both pizzas up.
- Go ahead, grab a slice. - he motioned, serving an example as he took a slice and started munching on it.

[Liten]

"Uhm, no. Not really." I said to him as he asked. I had never really been allowed the freedom to have much choice. So what I wanted to drink was definitely not a choice I usually had. I watched as he brought in the cardboard boxes and then opened them up. I could smell the aroma already. It was a pleasant smell, though one smelt far more enticing than the other one did. I went over, looking at the pizza. I poked at it, immediately pulling my finger back. It felt squishy, and was somewhat hot.

[Matt_Bradock]

- I guessed. - he replied, feeling sorry for the neko. How she's been kept was practically slavery. While here... he treated her more like an adopted daughter.
Soon the pizzas arrived too, and the cardboard boxes revealed their contents. Matt sliced 'em up and watched Kayla poke at one, inducing a chuckle from him.
- They don't bite. They are kinda hot though, so be careful. Also, hold the slice like I do because it's kinda soft and the topping might fall off. Come on, it's best when it's still warm.
With that, he took another bite. It surely couldn't be bad, or laced with anything, if he was eating it that naturally.

[Liten]

I watched as he did. Picking up a piece. Then, I took a small bite of it. It was, a wonderful flavor, something I had never tasted before but that I wish I had. Having very little self restraint for these matters, I quickly devoured the slice of pizza. Though I did not take another. I waited, to be sure that it was okay for me to take another slice. I couldn't be too careful.

The speed of her devouring the first slice left no doubt about her hunger, and something else. Matt blinked in surprise a few times before remarking.
- I guess that means you like it. - he cracked a smile, trying not to chuckle.
- Well, go ahead, grab another slice if you want, but try to slow down a little if you don't want to have a hard time battling with your aching stomach. The pizza won't run away, so no need to rush it. - he added, giving the somewhat fatherly advice.

[Liten]

I listened to him and quickly grabbed another slice. Then, I began to eat slower, I couldn't tell if this was an order or just a suggestion, but you could never be too careful. But, it certainly didn't seem like an order, oh well, at least the pizza was good, and he let me have another slice of it in the first place. Her old owner probably never would have given her food like this, or let her eat it with her hands.
